Nov 4, 2010I alternate between two wifi networks on my HTC Desire running Android 2.2 ( I think!)On one network I need to specify the network IP/subnet/Gateway and so on, on the other network I can use DHCP.Is there any way to tell Android that whenever I connect to one wifi network it should use the static IP and on the other it should get an IP automatically?I am forever going into advanced wifi settings and changing them back and forth. I'd love for my phone to remember the settings used on each wifi profile.

res/values-de/strings.xml
res/values-fr/strings.xml
res/values-ja/strings.xml
when a user runs our application, the Android system selects which resources to load, based on the device's locale.
So basically I want to add language option in my application and save user language preference, then load text resources based on user preference.
Is there any way to do this?

Jul 29, 2010I just bought Beautiful Widgets for it's compact time/weather widget, (gained another row of icons on home screen) When you first create a widget with this, there are many configuration options, but it appears the only way to change something is to delete the old widget and create another one. Is this true, or is there a way to edit the options for an existing widget? EDIT: Found the answer in another forum. Tap the weather icon. then menu. I'd delete this, but I can't find an option to delete my post.

Nov 11, 2010Can someone tell me if there is way to write an SQL query to get list of contact names from phonebook which matches its english name given that the phone language is set to Spanish.If I write a query to get a contacts whose last name ends with "Dad", but for some contacts the last name "Dad" will be stored as "papá" in Spanish.So the query where I write to match for lastname="dad" will not work as they are different characters. Is there a way in SQL which takes care of language translation as well while quering?

I go in and change the notification settings to Notification Sound "On", and then, sometimes, a few hours later, when I notice that I haven't heard any emails come in, I'll check the settings and see that Notification Sound is now "Off." Same thing with download frequency and delete email on server.

May 3, 2010My phone will not update profile and connect to the Sprint network. It is completely useless now. I downloaded Launcherpro plus. After that I lost my data connection and checked under settings to see if the mobile network got turned off and it was so I tried to turn it back on and it was stuck in Searching for network. I called Sprint and tried to troubleshoot the problem and couldn't so the tech had me do a hard reset. (everything gonzo now) After 4 hrs on the phone with Sprint. I can't even make a phone call. The phone is completely useless. When I try to connect to the network it just gets stuck in searching mode. It won't update my profile or connect to anything. The whole start up process is not working.

Sep 11, 2012I'm modifying a stock ROM for work to have everything setup and ready to go after flashing the tablets (currently we flash and run a setup app) and have run into an issue I can't seem to find an answer to.
I need to be able to set certain system settings, such as "USB Debugging", "Unknown Sources", "Display Timeout", and a few other things.
I presume its one of the files inside the system.img.ext4 but can't find one that has anything like this.

Apr 13, 2010I will try to explain a simple app scenario: My app goes right to a 'main view'. In this main view I have inserted a 'TextView' which displays current settings created by way of the PreferenceManager. For simplicities sake, let's say I have a checkbox in my settings. When I first start my app - the TextView on my main view shows my checkbox setting correctly (true). Now I go to the settings menu, it pops-up, and then I change it to false. I go back to the main view and...no change. It still say's true even after I changed it to false. If I end the app and then re-start it - all is well and it shows my change.
Apparently the main view just stays in the background while I'm changing settings? How can I redraw or update the main view after I change settings?

Nov 9, 2010This is my 3rd week with my Captivate and the first week that I'm on call for work. We use a paging system that sends me texts when I get paged.Last nite, unfortunately, as I slept with the phone next to the bed, I kept hearing notification sounds when email came in, and had to check my phone to make sure I wasn't getting paged.Is there anyway to set the notification bar to only notify me when a text comes in? Or is there a way to shut off the sounds for email and other notification messages over nite?

Aug 3, 2012My MMS is not working after flashing a custom rom ( HTC ONE X on VirginMobile Australia ).I realize its to do with the APN settings , I have updated them manually but the MNC field needs to show : 02 , currently its set to 029 - if I change it , it deletes the whole new APN I have put in and Im left with no connection at all.
Is there anyway to change this MNC field? I read on another forum that there is a way through ES File Explorer... going into system/etc and the APN file - but I tried that , and there is def. no APN file in system
HTC Desire :: Incorrect Timezone - Network Keeping Changing
Nov 23, 2010I have been lurking for a few months now but have finally registered as i have an issue i just cant figure out. Me and the wife both have a Desire. When the time is set to automatically update from the network it keeps changing to GMT -8 Las Vegas time. it even says Las Vegas in the current clock.(and i cant delete it We have never manually changed the clock to Vegas time. The freaky thing is that we used to live in Las Vegas, BUT we didn't get our Desire's until moving back to the UK. I have made sure all my router, modem and PC settings are all GMT UK Time. the only thing that i can think is it is Gmail doing it as we made our Gmail account whilst in Las Vegas. its very annoying as when it changes to Vegas time obviously all our alarms and calender entries go "pete tong".
Also if i set the clock to manual it loses time pretty quickly as i left the wifes on auto and mine manual and within a few days mine had dropped 2 or 3 mins. We have the same gmail account synced to both phones. we also use Launcher Pro I thnk that is all the info i have for now.
Samsung I7500 :: Changing MNC In Settings Makes Whole APN To Disappear
Jan 27, 2010I just updated to Galaxhero and I love it except one quite big and annoying problem with internet connection. Problem occurs when I try to set up the APN for my service provider. I have to change the MNC from 05 to 21. So I did put all the settings in and pressed save. What happens I found out the whole APN is gone.
Played around a bit with it, and noticed that if I touch to MNC setting and change it to other than 05, it causes that very APN to disappear from APN list. Is there any way to fix this? Somehow maybe modifying the "default" MNC to 21 if there's no fix for the disappearing one? Sad thing is that I don't have 3g without it.

HTC Hero :: Changing LCD DPI Settings - Affect Battery Usage Or CPU
Aug 23, 2010So I changed my DPI setting to 150 since in launcher pro I use 5 rows instead of 4 so it doesn't overlap etc. And wanted to ask if changing the DPI setting may affect the battery usage (recalculating screen) or CPU (making it slower) or the games will lag? etc.
Changed it back, I think was lagging and the text boxes were smaller not on the whole page. And the confirmations had green lines in the middle.
How I did it:
1. Root Explorer , mount R/W in system
2. Open in text editor.
3. Edit the build.prop line with ro.sf.lcd_density=150 and save the file
4. mount R/O and reboot
Still if someone knows something about the battery usage and cpu etc. So I know in future if I should play around with this one.
HTC Hero :: Changing Search Button Default Settings
Mar 10, 2010I Just installed the Dolphin browser instead of Steel as I was using before. So uninstalled Steel, but have a little problem now. When I press the search button on my home screen and search for anything, it opens the default browser and searches, and not Dolphin. How do I change this? Thought it would ask for which app it needed to execute the order with, as it did at other places it would go online, but not here. Has been in the manage applications and delete the default browser to be default, and inside settings in the dolphin browser and the check it to be default, but it does not work.

Jan 5, 2013I'm running a Galaxy Nexus, and the ROM I'm currently on has a performance option in the Settings Menu, which gives control of the kernel and stuff. However, I'd rather use TricksterMod, and I would like to be able to launch TricksterMod from Settings instead of the Performance app.
So far, I've decompiled my Settings.apk, and looked through the files, and I'm not sure what to change.
I have to change settings esxmlsettings_headers.xml, correct? Specifically,

I would also have to change settings esvaluesstrings.xml, specifically, the string referenced by "@string/performance_settings_title" so that I can have the correct name, correct?
And similarly, settings esdrawable, for the icon.
The big question is, what do I replace with for "com.android.settings.performance.PerformanceSetti ngs"? Do I need to move TricksterMod somewhere specific, or what would I reference? dataappcom.bigeyes0x0.trickstermod-1.apk?
After making all these changes, I'd simply recompile and push the Settings.apk back without signing, correct? Have I missed any steps?
Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 :: Network Coverage Doesn't Appear / Keyboard Keeps Changing - Fix These?
Jul 3, 2010Not only will the app 'maps' not complete loading but I have major problems getting the Internet. I have checked the network coverage and it doesn't appear to be that but sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't.
Also my keyboard keeps changing too i even get Japanese on it.
