Sprint HTC Hero :: Mobile Network Settings - Hybrid Mode?
Oct 9, 2009I'm playing with the Hero and under mobile network settings, mode of operation you have 3 choices, Hybrid, EVDO only and 1X only. Does anyone know what Hybrid is? It's the default selection. Will selecting EVDO only help with battery life?

Jul 11, 2010Recently purchased the Desire and am happy as larry with the purchase. One small problem. It would appear it has issues with my networks APN settings. I'll it admit that I'm a little puzzled after staring at the APN settings for a while and adding the ips etc still not getting any luck. 2degrees (my provider) have attempted ota delivery but no luck. Here are the settings:

HTC Desire :: Mobile Network Settings Menu After Call
Jun 29, 2010I am experiencing the following problem: I initiate a call, and after hang-up I end up in the "Mobile Network Settings" menu. Has anyone else encountered this? Found only one post about this on google, but its relating to a CyanogenMod ROM. I have stock Andy 2.1 with (non)Sense.

Aug 30, 2012I am running a CDMa Sense 4.0 rom which has missing options inside the Mobile Network Settings and was wondering which is the file /apk which you have to change from a different sense 4.0 file?
Basically, which file edits the Mobile Network Settings options inside the Settings app? I tried using a different System.apk file with no luck. the options i need are still missing.
HTC Desire HD :: Mobile Network Widget - Switching Off/on Mobile Network Setting From Home Screen
Oct 29, 2010I have been trying to find a way of quickly switching off/on the Mobile Network setting from the home screen. When searching Google there's loads of pages stating that it is an HTC Widget that can be added. I have checked all the widgets on the Desire HD and cannot seem to find it anywhere. I am using an unbranded handset.
The Desire HD manual even states "You can also add widgets that allow you to quickly switch on or off certain settings of your phone, such as Wi-Fi, Mobile Network...".
Does anyone else with an HD handset have this widget ?

May 6, 2010all of a sudden my phone will not connect to a mobile network.it was working fine today and when i checked it just then it just wont connect. Ive tried turning it on and off, removing battery and sim but nothing is working. My apns are all still correct. did install phonemypc today which was working fine, and when i tried to use it again just then it wasnt working. Anyone had similar problems?hanks in advance

Jan 14, 2010I would like to use my Hero (unlocked, unbranded UK version, 2.73 software on T-Mobile) to access the net when out and about with my MacBook (10.6 SnowLeopard).
Will this work just by connecting a USB cable and enabling mobile betwork sharing, or am I going to need the PDANet app?
(I know I could just try this when I get home, but I'm sure someone else must have tried and can save me the trouble )

Feb 25, 2010I am having a few issues with my Hero on Vodafone and am looking to see if anyone else has ever experienced any similar issues, as they're starting to drive me crazy!First and foremost is an issue of trying to dial out and make a call. A simple function that's failing to play ball.Basically I try to make phone calls and the phone just beeps and refuses to do even try, it just simply ends the attempt. This has been happening for the past few months and I've found the remedy to be simply switching off the mobile network option. However this is highly annoying when trying to make a call in hurry, or having done this not being able to have apps running in the background as I've forgotten to turn the network back on!I am having this issue even when there are no downloaded apps running at all, simply the com.htc.provider/calendar/messages, etc. I am using TasKiller to monitor this and therefore there should be NO mobile network activity.Any help or suggestions would be most appreciated.Finally has anyone been able to get mms to work on the Vodafone network yet? I've have tweaked the APN's sooo many times and have tried the settings that are in the sticked thread. Any thoughts, as Vodafone and HTC support offer no help whatsoever.

Oct 4, 2010I recently brought a HTC Hero from Three (3) mobile on PAYG, unlocked it with no problems and got myself a sim only contract with T-Mobile.However I am trying to access the internet over the t-mobile network and it wont let me get anywhere, always bringing up the 'Web page is not availiable' screen. I have no issues running the internet over wi-fi and I am receiving calls and texts over the t-mobile network so I assume its not a sim issue (the contract includes data allowance btw). Also the sim that 3 mobile gave me with the phone accesses mobile internet perfectly.Does anyone on here have any suggestions as to what things I could try to rectify this problem.

Jun 24, 2010Is anyone else having issues connecting to mobile network?I'm running Fresh 2.1.2. My network hasn't connected any today. I can't even toggle the mobile network widget.When I go to Settings Wireless, Mobile network is grayed our and it says "Turning on..." below it.I saw in another thread to cycle the network off and on. I have to do this through a long press on the power button, but it doesn't ever connect.Is this a phone issue, or could there be network problems in my area?

Dec 14, 2009I got my HTC Hero the other day and am very very happy with it. The only problem is that I cannot connect to the internet through "Mobile Network". I am on a "3" contract and I am able to access "my 3" which is where I can look at my account, look at my last bill, check my usage, etc. I can also connect to 3 - Home - that loads fine. But any other website (google, bbc, facebook, etc.) will not load - it just times out after a while.
It seams obvious to me that this is an issue with my account on 3. I don't know how many hours I've been on the phone to these guys. I have gone through all the settings with them, more than twice - replaced my SIM card and tried my SIM in another phone. So Three are now looking into it and have passed my issue onto the network's team, now they said that it may take up to 21 days for someone to get back to me!

Im trying to do something and i realize i cant because my mobile network is off, i dont use wifi because i want to save battery life. This issue is very annoying because i dont know how to stop it, i want it to be ON always.

Dec 31, 2009I don't know if it was a settings app (Quick Settings by Sergey) from the android market that caused it, but after uninstalling that app (the only other one i use right now is the lock screen widget - which i just uninstalled), i can't turn the mobile network on. i've tried the airplane mode trick, gone into settings, soft reset, etc. any ideas in the manage applications? i'd rather not do another hard reset (had to for the google account). i called htc and they were useless - with no trouble shooting, they recommended a hard reset and to not download apps! btw, i'm on a non-rooted phone.

May 7, 2010I leave my network off to conserve the battery. but the mms will show in my sms threads but wont notify me unless i have the mobile network on. is there any fix? seems like if it knows i have an mms without the network on it should know to notify me. my whole family has heros ( 7 including me ) and its the same for everyone.

But I am not able to connect via GPRS or EDGE or HSDPA. the APN settings get connected but the mobile network state always displays "Disconnected". HTC Hero :: Google Maps Accuracy - Wireless Network And GPS Settings
May 4, 2010I've got a Hero recently unlocked from the 3 network and I'm using a O2 SIM card in it, I have put in all the right settings to get my MMS and Internet working and everything is cool, however I seem to get really vague accuracy when using Google Maps, sometimes "accurate" to within 2400 metres. I think if somebody asked me to guess where they were in the world I reckon I could get closer than that! Anyway from searching the forum I have read a few comments saying to turn off the Wireless network setting in the Location menu and just leave the GPS one selected, which I have done but then even after waiting a few minutes in an open area it fails to find my location.
I know a couple of times with both wireless network and GPS settings enabled it has been accurate enough to be able to pinpoint my location and display the arrow next to the blue dot to show which way I am facing, which is really helpful if you are in a unfamiliar area and trying to navigate to somewhere. Any ideas why it's so poor at picking up my location and are there any apps to help the GPS get a lock? Would this be something that is fixed in the 2.1 update? Which doesn't ever look likely to come out.
