After "clear data" for "MEDIA STORAGE" application(i wanted to reset the library for Music)
I have now only one ringtone.
Im sure along with this, other necessary things got deleted.
Is there any way to recover all of Media Storage without doing a factory reinstall?

Besides clearing the media storage, what are the ways to force a rescan? My rescan service seems to have stopped and everything in the gallery is blank. I tried some third party rescan but all fail. GT-N7000

I've been using the stock music player to trim songs and then set them as my ringtone, however every time I mount my SD card the ringtone reverts back to stock and I have to reset it. Is there a way/app that can let me trim a song, store the trim on the phone (not SD card) and then use it as a ringtone?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have installed some apps from Android Market to my Galaxy y. I needed to reset the factory settings and all the apps in the phone was erased. I only wanted to delete the email account. I tried to go to Android Market to reinstall. But it won't get in my phone anymore even when I click on install. There is a button that says installed. I checked on "manage account" setting and none of the applications are there. From Android market, when I click on "My Library" I see all the apps that I have downloaded before.
Question: Is it not possible to reinstall these free apps again? If so how do I do it?
I've had some odd problems since my Froyo update, calls going straight to voicemail and people not hearing me when I make or receive calls - all intermittent of course! I've decided I'm going to reset to factory and just back up texts and contacts, I'll just reinstall the apps afterwards - probably don't need half of them anyway.. Question is they are all installed on my SD card now, will factory reset get rid of them from the mem card? I want them all gone and to start again...I'd hate to think they were wasting space on my SD card....otherwise I'll have move them back before reset..
View 1 Replies View RelatedI finally decided to apply a lag-fix to me phone. I used the RyanZA fix available in the market. I'm not exactly sure on the stock partition configuration on the Captivate but if I understand the lag-fix, an ext2 partition is created and the system files are moved to that partition. Thinking ahead for when Froyo arrives, I'm wondering if I can format all of my internal storage and reinstall a ROM. If I format the internal storage, do the necessary partitions need to be created manually or does installing a ROM create the needed partitions? I'm fairly new to Android so excuse me if my terminology is off.

I was trying to multitask and ended up wiping Internal Storage through TWRP. Is there any app / process I can use to recover files? Undelete[app] errors out saying it's not a fat filesystem Disk Digger[app] only searches for specific file extensions, which would cover things like my TitaniumBackup & TWRP Backup files
When I plug it into a computer, it shows up as a Portable Device, and no problem that I've downloaded (Recurva / PCI / EUSUA) is able to search on portable devices, only physical/logical drives.
Is there anything I can do to attempt to get data back from the sd card?

View 12 Replies View RelatedI had some photos in the phone's internal storage, my friend did a factory reset on it, and now all of them are gone. I have tried nearly all available android applications like Undelete, Hexamob and Disk digger etc but no luck. Disk digger only found 3 photos.
The Huawei Ascend P1 has mass storage option and I have all the drivers installed but it doesn't mount. Only If I insert an external SD then it mounts. So recovering files using a PC software isn't working either.
Is there anyway to recover from forgetting your credential storage password? I haven't attempted 3 times so I'm not locked out or anything, but I want to change the password and can't remember the original. I'm I looking at a hard reset?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI kept getting a low on space warning so I decided to go into the 'Managing Applications' menu and found some apps had a large 'Data' reading.The Twitter app in particular was using just under 10mb.I decided to click the 'Clear Data' button and it warned me that this would clear all my account settings etc but I thought I'd give it a try.Anyway, it brought the data level right down to virtually nothing and my Twitter app didn't lose any of my account settings. I didn't even need to sign in again and everything works like it did before and I now have some free space.I did the same with the Facebook app. The data has come right down, I was required to sign in again with this though.I had about 13mb of space left before, now I have 45mb.
View 17 Replies View RelatedI am trying to recover text messages from a factory defective Droid Razr. I need to send the phone back on a warranty return, but I'm hoping to pull all my text messages before I send it.
Here is the problem...my phone will only stay on for like 2 minutes max at a time before it power cycles. I have SMS Backup+ installed, but I can only recover like 5-10 messages per power cycle (its takes a few seconds to startup the wifi, app, and login).
Is there anyway I can use a USB cable to transfer the texts to my new phone? Or can I use the "My Files" utility to transfer them directly to the SD card? Or any app that will transfer the texts to the SD card (instead of backing them up online)?
(Additional info: I am running the standard, non rooted ICS)

I am rooted and have successfully copied .ogg .wav or .mp3 ringtones to system/media/audio/ringtones, notifications or alarms folders. I can even play them from those folders on press.
My hassle is I am not able to select these as my tones. They don't show up in the menus. I want them in the root because if I am connected to my pc and an email/text/call comes in that is assigned a Custom tone on sd, then my tones revert back to a default tone and I have to reset them all when i disconnect from pc
I have heaps of added apps on my Galaxy Gio, as a result of which (despite rooting and moving all I can to SD card) I'm forever running out of memory (I presume this means RAM - I'm a bit new to all this!). Sometimes I can't even do an update of an existing app without it aborting due to low memory.
So today I went through the apps list and cleared the data for every app that I thought I didn't use. BUT all my carefully arranged home screens (full of my own app icons) disappeared, and reverted to the phone default icons!
I can eventually rebuild my several home screens, but I'd like to learn which particular app's data stores that information (home screen layouts), so I don't ever clear it again!
If I boot into clockwork recovery and clear the cache/data and/or the dalvik cache and then boot back into my rom, will it still work?
I recovered my rom without clearing it beforehand and now all sorts of minor weird things are going wrong. its fine, just annoying.

Just as I said in topic - I runned out of memory on my SGSII on internal and sdcard and moved some pictures to /data/myfolder by using Root Explorer, then I've accidentaly deleted it. Is there any way to get the data back?
1) I cant mount /data so it can't be visible on My Computer
2) I couildnt find any app on Market which could recover deleted files from /data partition

Maybe there is a way to make a FULL IMAGE of data partition so I could scan it from my PC with some software for lost files? somehow?
I notice that my app's data on external storage (i.e. SD card) gets deleted during an "adb install -r". While this is normal for uninstall (and then afterwards install optionally to notice it), I do not understand why this is the case for reinstall (and thus for Market updates as well). I could have sworn this was not always the case.

So I am writing and reading data in "/sdcard/Android/data//files/somefolder/data". My preferences do stick.
@Commonsware: The problem is not so much with getExternalFilesDir() IMHO as I see my data is written where I expect it. It just does not stick. I am using a.o.:

I'm developing an app that is a shell in which a user will purchase and load business information from 29 separate, purchasable regions in the US. These regions are database driven, and I'm still modifying the database for 2014 data. This is a test environment. The problem I'm having is that once I've simulated the purchase of a region (let's say, Chicago), my device apparently caches that data, so that when I update the database, the updates don't push through. I've tried clearing the cache on the app, erasing all the app data, and disabling the Backup & Restore feature on the device, then completely uninstalling the APK. But when I reinstall a the APK from scratch, it installs with the Chicago region already showing as having been purchased, still showing the old database data.
how can I get the APK to reinstall as if for the very first time, with no previous purchases or downloads, so that it pulls fresh data from the DB?
How do i log off gmail and gtalk. I tried disabling the data traffic and clearing the cache.
