Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 :: Data Roaming And Data Traffic
Nov 15, 2010With the 2.1 upgrade, I have a little question about mobile network settings.I do not have 3G and do not have a monthly data plan. In 1.6, all I had to do was tick off "data roaming" in the Mobile Network Settings to make sure I do not ever connect to the 3G network.In 2.1, there are "Data Roaming" and "Data Traffic". If I were to tick off "Data Roaming", would that mean that the "Data Traffic" is no longer in use either, even if its ticked on? I do not want to tick off the "Data Traffic" option because it leaves a huge ugly picture on the notification bar.Any help would be greatly appreciated, as I do not want an abundance phone bill due to this!

Nov 18, 2010I'm just trying to work through my phone after updating to 2.1, it's like having a new phone and starting all over again! On the new 2.1 if you got to Settings, Wireless and Network, Mobile Networks....the top two are "Data Roaming" and "Date Traffic". Is DATA TRAFFIC equivalent to the Internet/MMS application on 1.6? If I click Yes to Data Traffic it warns me that "addtional charges may apply....." etc etc. I didn't get that warning on 1.6? Is this just the standard internet connection?

Is this advisable and will it have any bad effect (such as phone deterioration and lower battery life) on my phone?

When the "Data Traffic" arrow is selected in the Mobile network settings the icon disappears from the toolbar at the top, but when it is not selected the icon appears. I cannot access the internet or download any of the Apps. Can it be sorted out.

I recovered my rom without clearing it beforehand and now all sorts of minor weird things are going wrong. its fine, just annoying.

May 26, 2010Im currently using Handcent SMS for my texts but just one thing that bugs me, is there any way of disabling receiving 2 texts when you receive one, what I mean is one goes into Handcent SMS and the other goes into the normal SMS inbox??? Is there a way to stop this??

Sep 11, 2010Googled this issue and can't seem to find the resolution. I am using the Gmail app which came pre-installed on the phone. I have entered my account details, I can send emails but I don't get a notification when I receive an email to my Gmail Inbox. I have checked the settings and I have setup a ringtone and selected the option to flag up an icon in the notification bar. However the only way I know I have an email is if I open the app. I have a task manager and Gmail is on the ignore list.

I later set up gmail from the gmail icon.Now, when I receive email it shows in one..I open/read/close and it opens immediately in the other. Sep 2, 2010I put all my contacts on my phone from my sim card, great no problems, then opened a gmail acount which was usefull for editing and adding email addresses to the contacts. But I now have a problem where, if I add a new contact to my phone, say a name and mobile number, it will soon disapear when the phone synchronises with gmail. The only way I have found to add new contacts on the phone is to put them in gmail first on my lap top. I know It is possible the stop synchronisning but surely gmail shouldnt take contacts off my phone?

Aug 18, 2010I'm having "fun" with syncing my X10 with gmail. Like an idiot I turned on the sync with the default "All contacts" setting and discovered that it'd hosed my phone's contacts (because I didn't have any in gmail - it's a new account). So I put some of the contacts back in and switched to the MyContacts/ Starred Android Contacts bit. Gmail contacts then seemed to be saved to the phone, but there was no exchange the other way. This morning, I tried a manual contact sync (from Settings) and it 'spins' for about 1-2 seconds and then stops, leaving the symbol up on the screen, and the last update time isn't updated from last night. Needless to say the new contacts from the phone aren't being sent up to gmail. A quick check of the phone logs (Android System Info app) isn't helpful.Edit: forgot to mention that Calendar sync works fine - with events being exchanged between X10 and gmail just fine. I know there's 'issues' with the initial sync (according to Google's support forums) but anyone out there had the same problem and - more importantly - got a resolution.

I then tried Moxier coming with the X10, surprisingly Gmail push works in it, and a very good function in Moxier is that you can customize the periods of pushing and polling mode within the day. But I still want to know why Google sync does not work in my X10, any other people have similar problem? I actually have a Moto Quench, which could push Gmail in the beginning, but suddenly stop pushing without a reason. Finally, can someone explain how the Gmail push works in Moxier. As Moxier is based on Microsoft Exchange server, I wonder how Microsoft Exchange server synchronizes with Google, is Gmail built based on Microsoft Exchange server?
