View 3 RepliesI have heaps of added apps on my Galaxy Gio, as a result of which (despite rooting and moving all I can to SD card) I'm forever running out of memory (I presume this means RAM - I'm a bit new to all this!). Sometimes I can't even do an update of an existing app without it aborting due to low memory.
So today I went through the apps list and cleared the data for every app that I thought I didn't use. BUT all my carefully arranged home screens (full of my own app icons) disappeared, and reverted to the phone default icons!
I can eventually rebuild my several home screens, but I'd like to learn which particular app's data stores that information (home screen layouts), so I don't ever clear it again!
If I boot into clockwork recovery and clear the cache/data and/or the dalvik cache and then boot back into my rom, will it still work?
I recovered my rom without clearing it beforehand and now all sorts of minor weird things are going wrong. its fine, just annoying.
I have a Galaxy S3 on at&t (i747)
I kept getting a low on space warning so I decided to go into the 'Managing Applications' menu and found some apps had a large 'Data' reading. The Twitter app in particular was using just under 10mb.I decided to click the 'Clear Data' button and it warned me that this would clear all my account settings etc but I thought I'd give it a try.Anyway, it brought the data level right down to virtually nothing and my Twitter app didn't lose any of my account settings. I didn't even need to sign in again and everything works like it did before and I now have some free space.I did the same with the Facebook app. The data has come right down, I was required to sign in again with this though.I had about 13mb of space left before, now I have 45mb.

I'm looking for a method or an application for android tablet, which allows me to quickly reset the device deleting any data (from the Internet cache, and the cache to the photos of the various programs such as facebook, twitter etc ...) and that does not allow any modification of the operating system. I need this solution because I have a restaurant and I want to put a tablet on each table for guests to make him see the menu (full of photos and videos), surf the internet and play with the kids.
is there an app that allows this? or is there a quick way to do this, such as a multiaccount management ? I remember, for example, that for windows there are applications that completely erase any unauthorized modification, files and cache, at the time you restart the operating system.
I am a newbie and just started coding in android. I have got a task on which I want a little help from you all. This is the problem :"Track web browsing and browsing related activities including user's total time spent online, complete URI's and timestamps, downloads initiated from the browser. Differentiate between main , embedded and redirected URI." I dont know where to search and how to go about it. Any kind of help would be really helpful. Please post your expert comments and help as early as possible.

I am able to find and connect to my Wifi Network at home, but internet connection between my new Android Tablet and Wifi is slow. My apple devices connect to the same router and are able to browser fast, the android tablet also browses fast with other Wifi network. There is something between the combination on the tablet and my wifi router that is making the connection slow (the google homepage takes forever to load so does other sites).
Tablet runs Android JellyBeans 4.1 and Wifi is secured using WPA-PSK (tired AES, TKIP and even open connection)
I was reading the Apps and Games section searching how to retrieve one of my games' save data, and I found it's probably on
/data/data/com.square_enix.android_googleplay.FFIII_GP
However I cannot access it normally, it's phone's internal memory. After few more searches, I came to a little idea: maybe using adb.
Then the question is, can I use adb to browse my device's internal and external storages, just like I browse through my PC using command line? (In my case I use Linux, so my terminal is Bash).
Can I copy from internal storage and write on it without root using adb? I don't want to root my device for a series of reasons...
I've been scowering the depths of Android music players trying to find an app that will simply let me browse SMB shares, sort according to ID3 track number tags, and play/queue music files.
The only app I could find that could come close is Xenoamp Beta, but it's buggy and often crashes when I point it at SMB shares with thousands of songs.
Otherwise I've come up with nothing.
Popular Music Players like Power Amp and Rocket Player etc, won't allow me to add SMB folders to their libraries. I've heard of solutions to mount smb shares into the "sd card", but such actions require root, which I don't want to do.
Popular Media Players like BSPlayer can browse SMB shares perfectly, but it won't parse ID3 tags and allow me to play according to track number.
Excellent File Managers like ESmanager will browse SMB shares with ease, but also won't recognize track number tags.
I've recently been experiencing a series of pop-ups in an Android dialogue box occasionally when I click links that I know are clean.A lot of them are dialogue boxes that say "Congratulations, your US number has been chosen for a gift - press the OK button to continue"
and the only way out is to either press the Okay button or force stop the browser. The browser it most recently happened with has been with Dolphin Mini browser - can't remember if it occurred through my Android's native Internet browser or not, either way it takes me to a site called Mobgifts(dot)org
I did some research and some said it was a virus, but I have Lookout installed on my device and scan it weekly and just did a scan yesterday - all was clean..
TL;DR: Internet links in browser lately have been unescapable diallogue boxes that say "Congrats you won this" and you have no other options than to either force quit or press Okay then exit.
With all the ads in games these days taking you out to the internet to browse and buy things, is there any way to disable internet borwsing from an actual browser while still leaving it open for things like Youtube? I can't uninstall the browser itself I don't think but if there's a way to disable it, or even just to disable downloading files from the internet, I'd be interested in that.

I have a Nexus 4 with a considerable amount of "pinned" music in the Play Music app taking up storage space. This pinning seems to have taken on a life of its own, and I'm finding that the app is permanently storing music locally that I never wanted downloaded.
So my question is this: what's the best way to completely clear everything that's been "pinned" so far, and start over? I knew how to unpin music in the app before the recent design refresh, but now I'm not seeing it anywhere. Is there a way to just unpin everything through the app? Or can I use a file manager or connect the device to a PC and just delete the music files?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have the following scenario:
1. My app opens a web view, with a web page that requires a username & password.
2. The user writes his password, and on the Android popup to remember the password he chooses "remember".
3. Now the user wants to log in with a different password. But the web view always remembers his last password and doesn't even show him the login page.
How can I programmatically clear that saved password? Assuming that I know the host URL. I tried webView.clearCache(true), webView.clearFormData(). But it didn't work.
to ensure that nothing is left in the history and back button behaves as usual.Unfortunately, this code doesn't work for me and the _articleView.canGoBack() still returns true. Implementation of clearHistory method is quite complex and uses asynchronous mechanism, which may not work immediately, but no matter how much time I wait the history is still there.
