Android :: Resource Not Found Errors For Images - Button Selector XML File

Jan 5, 2010

My 1.6 app works fine in both portrait and landscape modes on the default HVGA device. I'm now trying to support it on QVGA devices and am encountering build-time errors I don't understand. In my res/drawable-ldpi directory I have:

startstopin.png startstopout.png and a selector file
startstopbuttonimageselector.xml
which contains:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<selector xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android">
<item android:state_pressed="true" android:drawable="@drawable-ldpi/startstopin" />
<!-- pressed --> <item android:drawable="@drawable-ldpi/startstopout" />
<!-- default --> </selector>

I've 'fixed project properties' and done a 'clean' build, to no avail. The error I get is:
Error: No resource found that matches the given name (at 'drawable' with value '@drawable-ldpi/startstopin').
Error: No resource found that matches the given name (at 'drawable' with value '@drawable-ldpi/startstopout').
I've tried adding a layout file in res/layout-small that explicitly references this selector file, but this triggers a similar build error and fails to address the original problem:
Error: No resource found that matches the given name (at 'src' with value '@drawable-ldpi/startstopbuttonimageselector').

Android :: Selector Resource Use A Color Defined In A Style?

Sep 21, 2010

I'm trying to use a color defined in a stlyle in a selector but it is causing a Resources$NotFoundException.

First I added a new attribute to attr.xml:

CODE:..........

Then I defined that attr value in styles.xml:

CODE:..........

Then I tried to use that attr in my selector definition:

CODE:................

Lastly, the activity uses the ThemeNoTitleBar style theme in the manifest.

I've also tried creating a color in colors.xml and having it use the new attr but that also fails.

I'm obviously missing something but am not sure what to do to fix it. My intent is to create multiple themes and have the selector use the color in the currently selected theme.

Android :: No Resource Found Error

I got "no resource found that matches the given name(at 'id' with value @id+/textview')" my main.xml file looks like this: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <TextView xmlns:android=" http://schemas.android.com /apk/res/android" android:id="@id+/textview" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_ height="fill_parent" android:text="@string/greetings"/> Any idea what I am missing? Android : Possible To Refer To Internal Resource Without Errors In Eclipse

Dec 4, 2009

Dianne mentioned we can use "@*android:type/name" to reference resource added to framework-res.apk at "what's the best way for OEM to organize it's own resources?"(http://groups.google.com/group/android- framework/browse_thread/thread/e9974bd5a42af10a/1f7055086f5489a7).

And I did see it is used in android source and looks like it is used to refer to internal resource not public, am I right?

I wonder whether it is possible to refer to internal resource without errors in Eclipse. I tried but adt reports error.

Android :: Error - No Resource Found That Matches Given Name

Jul 16, 2010

I am new to android, I try to create layout so that I have background image, and have a ImageView with animation start from bottom right of screen and along with a TextView stay on top of this ImageView. (Hope my describe make sense).

My problem is when I try use "android:layout_above="@id/flyobject"", the eclipse alway say: error: Error: No resource found that matches the given name (at 'layout_above' with value '@id/flyobject'). But as for sure I have defined flyobject, and I can find it's in my R class.

Here is my XML file:

Android :: Bitmap Resource Not Found On 1.5 Platform AVD

Nov 2, 2010

I have a bitmap that I want to display in my Android app.This works fine for platforms with version number greater than 1.5 but not for 1.5. When executing the line below an exception is thrown stating that the resource couldn't be found.

Bitmap bmp = BitmapFactory.decodeResource(mApplicationContext.getResources(), R.drawable.arrow);

I have put the bitmap in all density-folders (hdpi, mdpi, ldpi) and scaled them according to the documentation (the mdpi-bitmap is 25x25 pixels and the ldpi-bitmap size 75% of the mdpi-bitmap size and the hdpi-bitmap size 150% of the mdpi-bitmap size).
Any idea what is wrong here?

Android :: How To Use Resource Within A Custom Xml Resource File?

Aug 3, 2010

I have an XML resource file:
<resources> <section>
<category value="1" resourceId="@xml/categoryData1" />
<category value="2" resourceId="@xml/categoryData2" />
<category value="3" resourceId="@xml/categoryData3" />
</section> </resources>
Using XmlPullParser, on the START_TAG, I can use:
int value = parser.getAttributeIntValue(null, "value", 0);
to get values 1, 2, 3...however:
int resourceId = parser.getAttributeIntValue(null, "resourceId", 0);
doesn't work...it just yields the default value 0, or whatever I change the default value (3rd parameter) to be. Does anyone know what I am doing wrong or if this is possible?

Android :: 9-patches In - Selector - Drawable For Custom Button Style

Nov 28, 2009

I'm having a bit of a problem with a custom button style. I have the button states (9-patch drawables) set up in a <selector> drawable. The style I'm going for is a button that looks like it gets pushed down, i.e., you can see the front edge of the button until you press it. It works fine for the button itself, but the contents of the Button (or ImageButton) don't move when pressed, even though I have the 9-patch areas set up to move the content area for the depressed button states. It seems like it's keeping the same 9-patch areas no matter which image it's showing.

Here's an animated GIF to help make the problem a little clearer, since I'm awful at explaining things: http://www.crappytools.net/button_problem.gif The button moves when pressed, but the icon inside stays still. I played with the Draw 9-Patch utility, and it shows that the content area in the depressed image should be shifting downwards like intended.

Android :: Set Image Resource As Package Path In XML For Runtime Images

Apr 19, 2010

Set the image background path as package:imageName Example. At runtime , my package is com.test.android .Inside that i have an image whose path i want to mention in the XML layout file as android:src = com.test.android/img1 for an ImageButton.I saw an SDK reference for ImageView as android:src = @[+][package:]type:name.But i am not getting how to use it.I think it must not be possibe , but if there is any way , please specify.The reason why i want to do this is that,when i specify a drawable at runtime for my image buttons, i change the images according to Focus received, or onKeyup, KeyDown.. but its not working as expected.When i mention the same thing as style under drawable, it works fine. So if my theme is going to change at runtime, i want to set the drawable at runtime, keepnig the path same in the xml.

Android :: Drawable Resource Images - JPEG Files Supported

May 28, 2010

Can I have sub-folders to hold my drawable resources. For example can I store an image in, say, 'res/drawable/content/images/myimage.jpg' and then find that resource via a call to:
id = context.getResources().getIdentifier("com.mycompany.myprog:drawable/ content/images/myimage", null, null);
I have tried this and it doesn't seem to be working (but I may have something wrong). Is it supposed to work or do all the resources need to be in the root drawable folder? Also, are jpeg files supported and drawable resources?

Android :: Android's Gallery Is Finding Resource Images

Jan 17, 2010

I have an application that uses a lot of png textures. There are too many to store with the app, so they are installed onto the SDCARD instead. The problem is that the default android gallery is seeing the png textures and is cluttering up the user's gallery screens with them. Is there a way to mark this resource folder in a particular manner so that Gallery will skip over it? Ideally, i'd like this to be something that my app can set so that the user doesn't have to do it.

Android : Can SAX Use A Local Resource XML File?

Jul 26, 2010

All of the android examples for XmlPullParser pull from a local resource file, and all of the SAX examples pull the XML from a URL. I've been told SAX is faster, so I'm trying to use that to pull data from a local resource file (res/xml/thefile.xml)

The example code I'm working off of is here. So in that example, the code I want to change is:

URL url = new URL("http://example.com/example.xml");
...
xr.parse(new InputSource(url.openStream()));

Instead of using URL, I want to use getXml(R.xml.thefile)
Is that possible, or does SAX need to get data from a URL?

Android :: Read Text File As Resource

Sep 14, 2010

I am trying to read a file "words.txt" from a resource. It is a very simple, but large (2 MB), text file that I want to read line by line. I have put the file into /res/raw/words.txt, and try to open it with the following code:

CODE:...................

However, I get a java.io.IOException. This is not a "resource not found" exception, so the resource is opened correctly, but the readLine() produces the error.

I tried using the InputStream itself, with the result that read() produces -1, which stands for EOF, as if the file was empty.
