View 3 Replies View RelatedI've added a folder onto the homescreen and added direct message contacts to it, which is exactly what i wanted, better than the HTC People widget for me. How do you rename the folder? Because I'd like to call it texts and set one up for calls. But when I create another folder, it is again called "folder". So you can't differentiate between the two.
View 3 Replies View RelatedDoes anyone know if there is a way to rename the icons/shortcuts for apps? Do these icons reside in a folder within root somewhere? I wonder if renaming the icons/shortcuts would allow us to reorganize the way they are sorted in the app tray (since it is alphabetic).

View 5 Replies View RelatedFor example, Gensoid Lite, a Sega Genesis emulator, allows you to create homescreen shortcuts to launch specific ROMs inside the app. Are there any internet radio apps that have this same functionality? I'd like to create some icons to access my favorite stations right from the homescreen instead of opening the app and going through there. I've tried XiiaLive, Cherry rPlayer, Google Listen, and TuneIn Radio and none of those have this functionality.

View 16 Replies View RelatedI updated to 2.1 recently, and I am using Helix launcher with 5 screens. I let a friend use my phone the other night and when she gave it back, it was messed up. I mean, it seems to work the same, but there are 5 small screens at the bottom of my home screen that look as if they are previews/shortcuts to the other screens. I cannot seem to figure out how she got that on there, or how to get rid of it! It's really annoying. Anyone have a clue??
View 3 Replies View RelatedI wish to change the 2 shortcuts at the bottom of Gingerbread default home screen (Phone, Browser) to something else (Messages, Gmail). But I couldn't find a way to change those icons either by press and hold on the shortcut, or by dragging icons from the Apps screen.
What's the best way to change them without using 3rd party launchers?
I use latest Nova launcher (Premium) and CM11 (nightly). But the same happened with CM10 stable and nightlies.
When I install new app - shortcut doesn't appear on my homescreen. I remember long time ago (I think that was in ICS stock launcher) - shortcuts would appear. But not anymore.
Automatically add widgets checkbox is checked in the Play Store Settings.
I even reinstalled fully Nova. No success.
I've discovered what may be a bug in the "app2sd" feature of Android 2.2.I haven't been able to find any information about it using the usual searches. My app will create a home screen shortcut in the usual way. Inside its intent that to be launched is a few extras describing the action to take. One of the extras is a string array. Now apparently, if someone creates a shortcut with my app, then moves the app to the sdcard, Android will strip out the string array intent from the shortcut.Other extras are left intact. This of course renders the shortcut useless to the app since key data is missing.Moving the app back to the phone doesn't restore the missing data.If the app is already on the sdcard and a shortcut is then created, it's OK.But then if the app is moved back to the phone, the string array extra is stripped again.I'm just going to take a wild-ass guess and say that Android does something to an app's shortcuts when it gets moved to and from the sdcard (maybe re-constructing it?) but it's not copying the string array extras. Is there any merit to this guess?

View 1 Replies View RelatedLeading up to my purchase of the new EVO I familiarized myself with some battery-life-saving tips. One of the tips was associated with reducing the number of Widgets on the Home Screen(s) that are pulling data in the background.
QUESTION: if one doesn't use widgets but uses App icons and Shortcuts does the addition of those NON-widget items cause the associated apps to launch by themselves in the background MORE THAN if they were NOT "short-cutted" onto the Home Screen pages??
I'm trying to determine how/what I'm doing that might cause apps to launch in the background when I don't really want them to. I'm using Advanced Task Killer to see what is running in the background and have NO CLUE why some stuff is turning on when they do. A recent LARGE list of running apps that I did NOT turn on coincidentally coincided with some Home Screen short-cut non-widget add-ons I recently placed.
Is there anyway to rename a shortcut on any of the Scenes? i.e., I have the built in "Voice Dialer" on my main home screen and its listed as "Voice Dial..." which for some reason is bugging the crap out of me.
View 2 Replies View RelatedDoes anyone know how to setup shortcut icons to specific home screens? This includes using any launcher out there. I know you can't do it in TouchWiz, even though if you press on any of the home screen indicators (the dots at the top) you can fast path to that screen. I tried launcher pro - but could not figure it out - that could be user error. The reason I want this, is to keep my home page clean and have a few icons at the bottom to get to certain pages without having to scroll. (examples music, tools, car, shopping).
View 8 Replies View RelatedI recently rooted my Epic 4G following this guide: joeykrim-SDX Permanent Root for Epic (and Verizon Fascinate).I then went ahead and removed some of the "bloatware" applications using this guide here: [GUIDE] How to Remove Pre-Installed Apps for FREE - xda-developers.I did successfully root my phone, and the applications I removed are no longer there, but now the shortcuts that can be placed in the Home (or any section) no longer remain after I shutdown the phone. Widgets and Folders on the other hand do get saved by the phone and remain after a reboot. Is there something that I may have removed that shouldn't have been? and if so is it easy to recover? Would a custom ROM fix this situation? Or is there a program that I can use to restore all the default applications (without un-rooting).
