Nov 6, 2009Is there anyway to rename a shortcut on any of the Scenes? i.e., I have the built in "Voice Dialer" on my main home screen and its listed as "Voice Dial..." which for some reason is bugging the crap out of me.

Sep 17, 2010Does anyone know how to setup shortcut icons to specific home screens? This includes using any launcher out there. I know you can't do it in TouchWiz, even though if you press on any of the home screen indicators (the dots at the top) you can fast path to that screen. I tried launcher pro - but could not figure it out - that could be user error. The reason I want this, is to keep my home page clean and have a few icons at the bottom to get to certain pages without having to scroll. (examples music, tools, car, shopping).

Sep 11, 2010I just got my droid 2. All set up and rolling. However, I am adding shortcuts to my contacts on my desktop (ala the d1) by pressing and holding the screen, then Shortcuts > Contact. I scroll to the contact and select it. and it adds them to the home screen. Unfortunately, it adds them with the WRONG icon. It IS an existing icon for a user just not the user I am selecting. Also: It is only when I add it to the home screen as a shortcut when it gets jacked. Anyone else seeing this or have a solution? Also, I use google to sync all my contacts. I use Gmail to set the icons. There is only a certain size which can be used. but on the D2, the same contact icons/images seem to be blown out. Like I COULD use a bigger size image, bug I dont think that Google allows it? Anyone know what size contact image the 2 can handle and a way to use that image through Gmail? So far, moving from a D1 to a D2Im not completely impressed. but it is faster and works well. except for this issue. And the moto blur crap. Also to note... when using the (HORRIBLE) motorola contact widget the icon/image IS correct. but cmon, is this widget even useful? How many people have only one number? And I need a 4x4 widget for one contact... mobile, home, text, email, etc.. BS. Really the function on the D1 of adding a shortcut to a contact is much better. add em, click the icon, then it asks you what you want to do (text, call, email, talk, etc)... the D2 still does this but you have to go into Contacts and click on the person first before getting the options.

Nov 7, 2009Most of my time with my new precious has been obsessing over how to arrange my screens.
Why the flip do the widgets lock into such ridiculous places!? Sometimes you could fit a whole other line of regular icons in the space that they leave!
So my question: Do any of you have OCD about how the screens are set up, and how do you set it up to work?

Dec 17, 2009I found a easy way for you non-rooted/non-Home++ to capture your screens. Download the Steamy Window app. Run it and close it right away. Go to the screen you want to print. Press and hold the Home key. Run Steamy Window. Wipe away all the steam. Hit the menu button and save the image. It seems like a lot of steps, but it is pretty quick and easy. The only thing the pic won't capture is the notification bar.

However, when I restored helix, none of my apps were restored to their appropriate home screen like it normally is. It's a pain to drag them all one by one again to where I want them. Jan 3, 2010On Saturday evening, I went to look up a score and found my Droid's homescreens wiped clean. I mean nothing was there. Folders, shortcuts, widgets, all gone. Nothing but my background. I thought I hit some reset or a magic delete function. After a few minutes of befuddlement, I cycled the power. Lo and behold, everything was back. Now, I'm very patient with glitches, so I didn't really think anything about it. Until this morning, when buddy texts me having the same exact problem. I advised him to reboot. Screens came back So I'm not hearing anything about update pushes, so I've gotta ask if anyone else saw this bizarre behavior in the past 24 hours.
