When I add a bookmark shortcut to my home screen, sometimes the website's favicon is full size and others there is only a small preview of the favicon on a red flag. (How) can I make it so they are always full size?

Running Droid 2.1 stock with Dolphin HD.This is a new problem as I never had it before with Dolphin. Just changed to Dolphin HD.When I try to make a bookmark shortcut to the desktop, the bookmarks it shows me are from Browser, not Dolphin. In Dolphin HD, I see all my bookmarks, but they are not choices for screen shortcuts.

I want to push a bookmark/internet-shortcut to a user's home screen as a result of them clicking on a link-via their browser of choice.
I know they can usually set the bookmark themselves and then choose to put it on their home screen. But I'd like to provide a link like "Put a shortcut to this page on your home screen" that takes care of everything kind of in the background/underneath.
What parts of the framework would I need access to to make it happen?

i cannot for the life of me get it back. verizon says it was lost after the upgrade. i put the "people" icon on my now when i need to call a friend who is on my "favorite" list, i hit that icon, it brings me to all contacts and at the bottom i then have to depress favorites which brings up groups, then hit favorites. like 4 steps to make a phone call?
anybody figure out how to get the favorite icon back on the phone screen?
To can you understand my question I will give you example with windows XP. The desktop shortcuts in winxp are stored in folder C:Documents and SettingsUserDesktop. If I save this folder and later I lost all shortcuts I can restore it.mI have this problem with the apps shortcuts in my phone home screen. My question is where is the location of this folder, where android store the shortcuts in the home screen? My phone is root and I have root explorer installed.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI am designing a home screen widget. I ran this widget on a HTC Hero device, which has a screen of 320 pixels * 480 pixels with mdpi. It ran perfect on HTC Hero. The widget takes 3 cells * 2 cells space, i.e. 240 pixels * 200 pixels.Then I ran this widget on a Nexus One device, which has a screen of 480 pixels * 800 pixels, mdpi. Since Nexus One also is mdpi, so I though 240dip is equivalent to 240 pixels on Nexus One and 200dip is equivalent to 200 pixels on Nexus One, so the widget will not take 3 cells * 2 cells space on Nexus One device. To my surprise, when running on Nexus One device, the widget take exact 3 cells * 2 cells, about 360 pixels * 300 pixels, on Nexus One device.I am confused. The layout xml above specifies 240dip in width and 200dip in height for the widget, but why did it take 360 pixels * 300 pixels on Nexus One Device? What am I missing?

I'd like to create some icons to access my favorite stations right from the homescreen instead of opening the app and going through there. View 16 Replies View RelatedI updated to 2.1 recently, and I am using Helix launcher with 5 screens. I let a friend use my phone the other night and when she gave it back, it was messed up. I mean, it seems to work the same, but there are 5 small screens at the bottom of my home screen that look as if they are previews/shortcuts to the other screens. I cannot seem to figure out how she got that on there, or how to get rid of it! It's really annoying. Anyone have a clue??

I use latest Nova launcher (Premium) and CM11 (nightly). But the same happened with CM10 stable and nightlies.
When I install new app - shortcut doesn't appear on my homescreen. I remember long time ago (I think that was in ICS stock launcher) - shortcuts would appear. But not anymore.
Automatically add widgets checkbox is checked in the Play Store Settings.
I even reinstalled fully Nova. No success.
From Android widget screen guidelines,we know that, home screen has 4*4 cells, and in portrait orientation, each cell is 80 pixels wide by 100 pixels tall. I think these are for baseline HVGA screen. How about for large screens and hdpi screens, do they still have 4*4 cells for widget and each cell in portrait orientation is still 80 pixels * 100 pixels?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've discovered what may be a bug in the "app2sd" feature of Android 2.2.I haven't been able to find any information about it using the usual searches.My app will create a home screen shortcut in the usual way. Inside its intent that to be launched is a few extras describing the action to take.One of the extras is a string array.Now apparently, if someone creates a shortcut with my app, then moves the app to the sdcard, Android will strip out the string array intent from the shortcut.Other extras are left intact.This of course renders the shortcut useless to the app since key data is missing.Moving the app back to the phone doesn't restore the missing data.If the app is already on the sdcard and a shortcut is then created, it's OK.But then if the app is moved back to the phone, the string array extra is stripped again.I'm just going to take a wild-ass guess and say that Android does something to an app's shortcuts when it gets moved to and from the sdcard (maybe re-constructing it?) but it's not copying the string array extras.Is there any merit to this guess?

I think it could be cuter if it were possible to get a surface view that mapped to the home screen icon for the app and animate that when the app is running and the icon is visible. Is that possible? I remember way back in the days of Windows 3.1, that when your app was minimized, it was possible to draw to the minimized icon as though that were the app window (actually, I guess it may just have been the app window). Right now if my app is in the background and I press the icon on the home screen, the app restarts with my Main Activity. Once here, if I press the back button the app resumes from the activity it left off before it was put in the background. If it's running in the background and I hold the home button and select my app from the current running apps, it resumes correctly. How do I avoid my app from going to my Main activity when it is selected from the Home screen or app picker?
