This may have been covered but if so, I can't find it. Is there a way to set home screen shortcuts without labels? I think that would really clean things up when you have several.

If I save this folder and later I lost all shortcuts I can restore it.mI have this problem with the apps shortcuts in my phone home screen. I'd like to create some icons to access my favorite stations right from the homescreen instead of opening the app and going through there. I've tried XiiaLive, Cherry rPlayer, Google Listen, and TuneIn Radio and none of those have this functionality.

View 16 Replies View RelatedI updated to 2.1 recently, and I am using Helix launcher with 5 screens. I let a friend use my phone the other night and when she gave it back, it was messed up. I mean, it seems to work the same, but there are 5 small screens at the bottom of my home screen that look as if they are previews/shortcuts to the other screens. I cannot seem to figure out how she got that on there, or how to get rid of it! It's really annoying. Anyone have a clue??
View 3 Replies View RelatedI wish to change the 2 shortcuts at the bottom of Gingerbread default home screen (Phone, Browser) to something else (Messages, Gmail). But I couldn't find a way to change those icons either by press and hold on the shortcut, or by dragging icons from the Apps screen.
What's the best way to change them without using 3rd party launchers?
I use latest Nova launcher (Premium) and CM11 (nightly). But the same happened with CM10 stable and nightlies.
When I install new app - shortcut doesn't appear on my homescreen. I remember long time ago (I think that was in ICS stock launcher) - shortcuts would appear. But not anymore.
Automatically add widgets checkbox is checked in the Play Store Settings.
I even reinstalled fully Nova. No success.
When I add a bookmark shortcut to my home screen, sometimes the website's favicon is full size and others there is only a small preview of the favicon on a red flag. (How) can I make it so they are always full size?

I would like to know how to add/register one of my program activities in "Home Screen -> Menu -> Add-> Shortcuts" (or on Hero "Home Screen -> Menu -> Add to Home-> Shortcut") so that user will be able to add it to his home screen. Is there an Intent Filter or any other way to achieve that?

I will be on the Main home screen and then it will start jumping Home screens as if I'm swiping to the left but I'm NOT swiping! Once it is on the last screen to the left it won't let me switch back to HOME. I can almost never do anything when this happens. I haven't dropped the phone. I've reset the G-Sensor. Has anyone experianced this? I've even done a Wipe of the device.

I've discovered what may be a bug in the "app2sd" feature of Android 2.2.I haven't been able to find any information about it using the usual searches.My app will create a home screen shortcut in the usual way. Inside its intent that to be launched is a few extras describing the action to take.One of the extras is a string array.Now apparently, if someone creates a shortcut with my app, then moves the app to the sdcard, Android will strip out the string array intent from the shortcut.Other extras are left intact.This of course renders the shortcut useless to the app since key data is missing.Moving the app back to the phone doesn't restore the missing data.If the app is already on the sdcard and a shortcut is then created, it's OK.But then if the app is moved back to the phone, the string array extra is stripped again.I'm just going to take a wild-ass guess and say that Android does something to an app's shortcuts when it gets moved to and from the sdcard (maybe re-constructing it?) but it's not copying the string array extras.Is there any merit to this guess?

View 7 Replies View RelatedSo through a weird assortment of events i managed to crack the screen on my Eris. But this is the trippy part, I didnt break the glass but the touch sensors underneath. So now i am unable to use the menu or home buttons and the entire left part of my screen and more. I am unable to unlock my device in anyway that i know(menu button, the slider). Is there any other way to unlock it? I now have 11 unread texts and 4 voicemails that I desperately want to view. Oh and I know some of you won't be happy about what I'm about to say but.... I took the leap to the moto droid. I had the chance to get it on a 1 year because I didnt get insurance and I went for it. I will really miss my Eris but the keyboard lag was just killing me.

This gets really annoying when using apps that require such actions. Anyone else having this issue or know what I'm doing wrong. Maybe an app that's causing it.

Before on 1.5 OS, all I had to do was hold down the "Home" button to display my most recent 6 apps, then hit the button again to pick if I wanted "Home" or "HTC Sense".Now, that does not work.

Right now, I'm trying out Helix launcher. I like the fact that I can add any shortcut to the bottom row next to the launcher. Open Home seems to have the most skins available. I like the clean look of the generic Android Home, but 3 screens is a little lacking.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to go through these threads and nothing is making sense. I was a long time bb user and they seemed so much easier than this phone. Problem #1: When I hit the home button it used to ask if I wanted to go to the home screen or the HTC sense now it doesn't ask, how do I get it to ask again? Problem #2: Which is better to use the home screen or HTC sense? Why? Problem #3: I see that there is a new upgrade but when I go to the system upgrade it tells me my system is up to date? It currently reads V 1.5. I just wish I had a manual that I can just sit down and read and a tutorial to show me all the advantages of this phone over my bb.
