Just got my Evo a few hours ago. I have read a lot of threads about these two apps and everybody seems to like them both. Can you guys give me some pros and cons of each so I can figure out which one I should download?

Why does it seem to me that using my 54mbps wireless adapter with WIFI tether on my fascinate seems faster (and gets better speed tests) over connecting to USB2.0 over PDAnet? shouldn't USB connection be faster?

View 7 Replies View RelatedOk, first of all I am using one program right now called "easy tether" but i had pdanet and it worked fine on the trial part, that expired and I tired to connect to it and kept getting an error code "633" so I thought it was just because it was the trial program and not the real thing so I purchased the damn thing and I still can't get it up and running. I didn't mind paying for it as I said it ran pretty good before and just thought I would stick with it but I can't seem to get it up and running. I downloaded the easy tether and it runs good too but since I paid for pdanet I would like to at least try and see if I can get it up and running so can anyone tell me what I might be doing wrong by getting that code? If I can't get it going I need to request a refund and I am out of town right now and that is why I need it so I can access the internet while I am gone, I can't go a month without internet!!! So can someone try and explain if they can what might be going on for pdanet not to run. Like I said I am using the easy-tether right now as we speak but it is a trial version too so don't want to have to pay for another one to avoid not being able to access secure sites.

I can find my phone under devices but it has nothing listed under device function or bluetooth services. I was able to send my phone a file from my computer via bluetooth. My phone also says under bluetooth devices it's paired but not conectected to my computer. I'm running windows 7.

View 4 Replies View RelatedWith much headache I've gotten PdaNet to work with DroidX via Bluetooth, despite some part of the Bluetooth driver not installing correctly/missing driver component.I've got the thing to what seemed to be the connected state on my dad's laptop, because he wants to browse at work, anyway.. I think the Bluetooth connection is working, but Verizon seems to be able to tell that its a tether because it pops up that Verizon page asking me to get a payed subscription for the tethering service (the site that shows the pretty chart where they say they want $30 more) no matter what site URL I type in.Any ideas why this happens? suggestions?Is there another solution that people have confirmed working for DroidX or am I doing something wrong? Also, I read that to use the USB connection to PdaNet I had to install the PdaNet Desktop app, which I tried to but kept failing install using the Motorola and Generic driver options, but I think despite this, PdaNet seems to not work right because of that page keeps popping up asking me to purchase the HotSpot plan addon. What do you all think? Thanks for help beforehand.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am having issues getting the 2 wifi tethering programs to work correctly. I just rooted for the firstt time today. Both programs start up correctly and allow me to enable to wifi tethering but I can't get any device to see the wifi connection they are creating. I have tried both scanning for the network and trying to manually connect to it by typing in the SSID but I can't get any device to see the network. I am using a Droid X with the official 2.2 update rooted.

View 4 Replies View RelatedWhen connecting my Evo to a computer, there is an "Internet Sharing" option. I am curious to know, does this cost extra monthly? I know the wifi tether is the extra $30 a month, but will this charge me the same?
I only have interest in rooting my phone if it's the only way to share internet with my Netbook. Wifi isn't all that important to me, and seeing as I've completely and utterly failed at doing the Unrevoked method for rooting... I'm hoping I won't actually have to root my phone after all.
Where did pdanet go? I seen it in the market on a friends phone, I got my nexus one yesterday and looked for it and it was not there. Do I need to get it from the website? I hope I can do this without rooting.

Download unsuccessful - Cannot Download. The content is not supported on the phone.
After looking into this it became apparent that the PHP Magic, that handles the downloads from the website, recognises the file as a .zip file rather then a .apk file and sends the it a .zip, that the phone does not recognise.
Does anyone know a way to get PHP Magic to recognise the file as an apk so that file extension does not get changed and the phone can recognise it?
I know this is a noobtastic question, but I have to ask. I was at a crappy hotel the other night and I used PDAnet to check email and what not. If I use the VZW tethering do I have to pay for it? Is it a one time fee like PDAnet or is it a monthly fee? If I use PDAnet am I going to pay out the wazoo on my next bill?

"Fail to launch PdaNet background service 2, err=61"
I'm running Snow Leopard, but it did the same thing before I upgraded from OS 10.5.
I'm using PDAnet on my HTC magic and speedtest on my computer is reading 1.7 mbps. I am also sharing the connection with my xbox360 to get on live. But Live is laggy. What am I doing wrong.

The reason I ask is because i'll be using it to tether to my laptop. When installing on the laptop...certificate warnings pop up.. the same when installing on droid. (USB debugging warning comes up saying it has to be turned off) which basically means data can be transferred wherever.

View 1 Replies View RelatedJust started happening last week. I have everything up to date. Whenever I text, on my pc the app pops up and says "reconnect failed". If I click 'connect', it says to enable USB tether on the phone, which IS enabled. Whenever this happens, I need to go to the phone, turn off PDAnet and then turn it back on. Everytime. So frustrating.
Anyone else have this problem? Using it on an LG ally btw
So i downloaded the application pdanet on my phone and my computer, but i decided i didn't want it anymore so i uninstalled it on my droid and then i uninstalled it on my computer, but when click on my internet connections (on my computer not my phone) it still shows "PdaNet Modem" in my list of internet connections, but uninstalled pdanet, how do i make this go away because its really annoying.
View 6 Replies View RelatedBeen trying to get the bluetooth to work with my pda net. I am having the hardest time getting the phone to connect to my windows 7 laptop. It seems like sometimes it does, but mostly doesn't connect. It will show up in my list of devices but grayed out. it says something like paired, but not connected. Or maybe its the other way around. Then, when it does appear to be connected, I cant get pda net to work properly. Any advice? Been making me crazy for several days now.
