View 7 RepliesWhen I woke up this morning all of my texts were gone. I do not have anything set to delete them. Why would the phone delete all of my messages?
View 30 Replies View RelatedI was surprised that I really couldn't find much on this, but I can't be the only one with the problem. My Droid Eris is sending blank text messages repeatedly. Is the phone faulty or is there some setting that I can change. I downloaded ChompSMS hoping that would fix it, but it doesn't appear to. When I open my text messaging program, many times it will send a blank text to the last person I texted. The other day, I turned the phone off and turned it back on and it sent a blank text at the exact time I turned it on.
View 14 Replies View RelatedLooked through the other threads but couldn't find what I needed, sure it's simple though. I don't want to see a review of my incoming text messages without unlocking the phone (for obvious privacy reasons). How do I turn this off?

View 2 Replies View RelatedTo clean the inbox of my HTC I often erase all messages. However, this action is synced to gmail and erases the messages. I don't want that; I want them to stay in the inbox (forever) Is there a setting that disables the sync action?
View 6 Replies View RelatedAre the Evo's People, Phone and Messages apps written by HTC or are they stock Android?I have the following issues but I don't know where to report them;People and Phone apps don't do landscape.Messages app keyboard should default the Return key to "Send" message, since 99% of text messages don't have a newline. A newline should be allowed by pressing "12#" and then the newline key.Messages app should show the type of phone number (e.g. home or cell) when suggesting contacts in the "To" field, and should know to default to the cell phone. Otherwise its suggestions are useless; I've already sent several texts to landlines because of this.If these are HTC apps, does stock Android fix these issues?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a hotmail account with a lot of saved messages...not sure why, but I keep them. Anyway, I want to synch with my droid, but don't want to waste space on the droid with the old messages. My question is...does the email app work like Outlook and download all the messages to the phone?
Also, if I forward my emails from hotmail to gmail will that accomplish my goal to get new messages without wasting space.
Sorry for a dumb question, but I am not sure exactly how this stuff works.
my phone (lg vortex) is malfunctioning terribly, it's about two years old and it's about time i get something new. there's only one thing stopping me. i want to be able to keep my text messages, at least the text messages from one specific contact. so are there any trustworthy apps or anything where i could switch them over to a new device??
how i would go about doing this. it doesn't have to be free. i just want to keep my messages, and be able to restore them to the new phone somehow.
I want to design a mobile application/tool for recovering deleted messages/pictures/files from the phone. I have the choice to do that using Android or Symbian. what do you think is more easier provided that I have to use some operating system concepts to solve the problem and recover deleted messages. Also what are the concepts that I can use for recovery ?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have been having problem with the carrier, they use to say I have called many numbers and have sent many SMSs I didn't really call or send.
So I was wondering if there is an app which will record all the calls' duration, SMSs sent and 3G/Edge usage.
So I could have a report later and compare it to my phone bill.
I got my HTC Hero a while ago, it is running Android version 1.5. Now my problem is, I've never really deleted any of my texts, so now I've got loads of texts stored on the phone and if I try to delete them, the phone just crashes, it either just freezes up completely or comes up with an error message saying that it could not delete my texts!
Ive tried deleting texts by one person at a time, but as soon as it reaches somebody that has over around 100 texts, it stops. I've tried hooking the phone up to my laptop but I can only see the things that are on my memory card! Is there any way that I can hook up the phone to the computer and see all the texts there and delete them from there?
Basically, I receive quite a few text messages off companies who send them using a PC, and so they appear as from the company name, rather than as a phone number. For example, texts from T-Mobile appear as from "T-Mobile". However, for some reason every text I get off a company starts a new thread, rather than all being in the same thread.
View 2 Replies View RelatedIf I have several messages in a thread, I am not able to see the entire message. Basically the most recent message is truncated and I have to search all previous messages to try and understand the thread. Is there a way to show the entire text from previous messages while ready the current message in the thread?
View 1 Replies View RelatedOk so I use my new Evo phone constantly to chat on yahoo and AIM, usually through either the ebuddy, yahoo, or now the new trillian app for android. And until a few days ago the only complaint I had was that it logged off everytime I got a phone call, but it always logged back on, so no worries. I just figured it was a data vs. phone service issue.
Until now.
I started noticing that everytime I make a phone call or get a text message on my phone, my AIM and yahoo based chat services (happens in all of the above apps) disconnect, and they don't auto login again. I have to logout of the app and then log back in to reconnect. But wait, it gets better.
I was annoyed with it happening on my phone, so I just logged off the chat app on my phone and logged in on my computer instead. Then my phone rang. A few seconds after the call, my chat service disconnected... on the computer! I thought wow, strange coincidence.
So I tested it. I logged back in and made a phone call, hung up, same exact thing happened, chat services that I was logged into on my computer were disconnected within a few seconds of end the call on my phone. So I reset my phone, turned it back on, made sure no IM client related apps were running, and made a phone call. Same thing happened. And then I got a regular text message from a friend on my phone, and noticed the same thing happened, the yahoo and AIM connection on my computer disconnected.
How on earth can my phone be causing my internet based chat service on my computer to disconnect when no apps related to that feature are running on the phone (and no the phone was not connected in any way to the computer)? I am completely stumped!
I hope somebody here has a clue how to resolve this. I tested it over and over again with different programs on the phone (downloaded trillian after it started happening with the ebuddy and yahoo apps to see if it did it also, it did) and I used both yahoo by itself on my computer and other all-in-one type messenger programs with the same result. Somehow the SMS portion of the phone which is used for the IM clients doesn't disconnect anymore and is related to the phone calls. Its like the accounts have somehow been paired. This issue only began this weekend, prior to that everything was fine.
So I was using my the handcent sms app on my Droid today and all a sudden the person i was sending messages to was receiving the messages 3 times. Then all a sudden when i went back to text someone else my whole thread was gone and all my messages had been deleted. Then I try using the stock messaging app and obviously all my threads are deleted but messages send twice, any suggestions?

View 9 Replies View RelatedI had to do a factory reset, thereby loosing all my SMS messages on the Droid. I did back them up to gmail using SMS Backup. Is there any way to restore them to the phone?
View 5 Replies View RelatedNewly replaced Eris, so I'm reinstalling a lot of apps. But now I've forgotten how I fixed this problem the last time. I'm getting double the messages (and notifications), via both Messages and Handscent. All i really wanna see/hear from/use is Handscent.
View 2 Replies View RelatedInstalled Handcent and was wondering if there is a way to disable the native messages application as double messages is starting to become annoying
View 8 Replies View RelatedI tried the steps above, and it didn't work. I then compared it to the steps on the other link, and there it says to do mtdblock4, not mtdblock3
So I typed mtdblock4 instead, and I rebooted from the adb shell in the computer.
The boot animation went fine, and then when I got to my homescreen, I freaked out!
It is all black. Instead of the unlock button, there is a green button with an airplane symbol on it. It says NO SERVICE.
The bar IS transparent, but it has these weird symbols on it, not the normal ones.
AND, to make it worse, EVERYTHING is force closing. I'm getting messages after messages of force closing. NOTHING works.
I can't even pull down the notification bar to get mount my sdcard in order to delete the .apk file from there. All these stupid force close messages keep propping up.
Also, it says that the date is Wednesday, December 31 (the 31 is a thursday, though), and it has a time of 6 hours from now.
NOW,
I am actually still in debugging mode, and I still have access to adb shell.
IS THERE ANYTHING I CAN DO? I'M FREAKING OUT HERE!
(Why oh why did I have to root my beautiful Droid! I think I killed it!)
I am a longtime iPhone user and I have recently been given a Samsung Galaxy S3 by my employer. In the past I have just used my old Android phone for Tethering with FoxFi so I can have web access at work on my laptop. I literally never made any phone calls with it for over 2 years. I have had the calls forwarded from my Verizon Android phone to my ATT iPhone since the day I got it.
Currently I have a (PERSONAL) iPhone 4 on AT&T with a 3G connection and I have this (WORK CELL) Samsung Galaxy 3 on Verizon 4G LTE.
I would like the ability to fully test out the S3 and leave the iPhone at home if I so choose. Call forwarding either way is not a problem at all. I can forward my iPhone personal calls to my work cell and I can forward my work cell calls to my iPhone (Currently this is how I have it). Call forwarding works great but I am looking for a way to handle text messages in a similar manner.
I would like to have the ability to send and receive text messages using my personal number from my Android Phone. I have Google Voice installed on both phones but I cant seem to get it to work at all or I am not setting it up correctly. I would not mind having texts show up on both devices or in my Gmail inbox. There has to be a way to do this. That way if I leave either phone at home it not a big deal I don't have to carry two phones. Nobody ever texts my work number, my only texts received are to my personal cell.
I need a certain ringtone someone sent me in a message. The problem is I can't find an option to save the ringtone!
View 3 Replies View RelatedIs it just me or did the OTA update cause this? My phone often charges to 100% and I don't see that despicable message (not that I miss it).

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have checked my hotmail messages through the phone and deleted messages, however when I log into hotmail on my computer the deleted messages are still showing in my inbox as new messages. How do you get it so that if they are deleted from hotmail on your phone they are gone for good with no need to delete them again once logged in elsewhere.

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy Hero (latest Tmobile firmware version) is getting really slow, and I'm thinking of doing a factory reset on it. However, I would like to export the text messages, into CSV format or similar. Any readable format would do. I have always done this with my Nokia phones before. Does anyone know a way to do this? I like the phone (besides the camera) but it is getting slow, despite using taskiller, only installing about 7 market apps ever, and clearing the cache of those apps regularly.
