View 5 RepliesI am relatively new to Android. Just got a Droid 4. As part of the setup, I added my gmail accounts. On the regular web interface, I have about 20 labels (folder) to archive the old messages. Then, I also had about 80 messages left in the inbox. Five days later, all of a sudden, I only have 1 message (a chat converted info a message 2 months ago) left in the inbox. Everything else in the inbox is gone. If I use the gmail app on the phone, that's what I see as well.
However, if I use the "mail" app on the phone, I am still seeing all the messages originally in the inbox. And the inbox is associated with my gmail account.
Now, comes the question: how can I restore all the email messages viewable by the "mail" app back into the inbox viewable by the "gmail" app, which is also the inbox in the web interface on my computer?
Is there any way to push the msgs archived in the SMS folder that SMS backup creates in gmail back to the phone after a wipe? I've searched and searched and cannot find an answer or a trick to restore the backed up msgs. It's nice having the msgs backed up on Gmail but it would be nicer if I could have them on my phone as well.

My wife's Droid 2 recently began to behave badly and make a gear-like squealing sound intermittently during some phone calls. Sometimes one a day -- sometimes every call. When it happened she could always hear it - sometimes the other partly could hear it. The phone is 11 months old and still on warranted.
I took it to the Verizon store and they insisted that they must do a "return to factory setting" and re-setup the phone to see if this fixes the problem. "It will only take 15 minutes" they said. Of course, after those 15 minutes I spent the next 4 hours trying to get it to stop yelling "Droid" at my wife every few minutes when an email, sms, phone call, usb connection etc. happened. I then realized that what I really needed was an application that saved and could restore the phone's basic settings and those of the important apps.
When I looked at the Market and App-Brain I couldn't find such an app. Without root-ing and using Titanium is there such an app that can restore the hundreds of settings that you might have tweaked?
How to restore the stock bootloader on a HTC phone?
I explain: after the root process, made with the Revolutionary tool, the bootloader isn't the same as before: now there are some lines i don't like (especially the one that allows to format the phone only by pressing two or three buttons).
Is there a way to change the bootloader, and back it up, or if i lose the phone, the "volume down-power button trick" could make a new phone?
I tried everything, including a method of mine to set the s-on and using the ruu, but nothing changed.
How can I restore my lost photos from my Android phone ? I just deleted some photos by accident, I need to get them back, some program that work perfect for my Android phone.
Used Vibosoft Card Data Recovery program? I just test it and found it can scan out thousands of photos from my phone, but is not free, any free app.
Galaxy s2 sgh t989 rooted followed all steps.I ran hc-ktool to backup efs.img and efs.tar.gz. I have not flashed any ROM for fear of turning my s2 into a paper weight. I downloaded root browser from play store to try and look deeper. That is when i noticed my efs folder was empty. I have been scouring my files but feel like a blind man looking for a needle in a haystack.
i still have a good imei and broadband version...everything seems okay. I am reluctant to do anything for fear of bricking. I no longer have lockscreen or power off menu either. Can i reset the phone to factory default and restore my efs? If so, do i have to unroot my phone?
When I woke up this morning all of my texts were gone. I do not have anything set to delete them. Why would the phone delete all of my messages?
View 30 Replies View RelatedMy wifes ZTE Blade 1 phone broke (graphics chip broke) but have a spare ZTE Skate. Luckily I have a clockworkmod image of the broken phone & have extracted the data from it to get the mmssms.db & telephony.db files.
However, when I paste them over the exsiting files (have root etc) & reboot I get force close errors & have to replace the old files back.
There is no way to boot the old phone & backup the messages - the only way to get the messages back is to get the mmssms.db to work.
I received text messages from my husband's phone # but he swears he didn't send them, they said: busy right now, talk to you later. Is there something in the settings that he activated without knowing what it was, because one of his co-workers got the same text right.
View 3 Replies View Relatedmy phone (lg vortex) is malfunctioning terribly, it's about two years old and it's about time i get something new. there's only one thing stopping me. i want to be able to keep my text messages, at least the text messages from one specific contact. so are there any trustworthy apps or anything where i could switch them over to a new device??
how i would go about doing this. it doesn't have to be free. i just want to keep my messages, and be able to restore them to the new phone somehow.
I just got a Star N9300 phone and activated it with Ultra Mobile Service. I tried texting some short codes on it but keep getting the message: Free Msg: Unable to send message - Message Blocking is active. Text messaging to regular phone numbers works fine though. I called Ultra's support and they said that they block short code messages. They did not offer to unblock the messages so I'm stuck. Is there a way I can get around this by programming my phone or a program I can install that will allow me to get messages. I am running Android 4.0 and it is an unlocked GSM phone.
View 1 Replies View RelatedPeople are still sending me texts even though I can't read them. I can still hear notification sounds. I've gotta get a replacement quick, but I also need to get the important texts I missed. Is there any way I can get them through my mac?
To be clear, the screen is completely blank but I can still unlock it via touch pattern. It takes a few tries but Android File Transfer on the mac will tell me if it can or can't connect. If it can't, I just try again and I can get it. So the touch part still works, it just doesn't show any information.
The phone is a Galaxy Nexus. When I connect it to my Mac, I can see the files in it via the Android File Transfer window. However, I can't find the texts here.
I have the Android SDK installed and I was told I can do this: adb pull /data/data/com.android.providers.telephony/databases/mmssms.db..However the device shows up as offline when I do adb devices. I can't figure out a way get it showing up as online without being able to use the screen.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI own a T-Mobile Comet and have been able to download the iPhone MMS messages and send pictures before. I have owned this phone for roughly a year, and starting a couple weeks ago I have been unable to receive the MMS messages or send my pictures, I use Handcent. What happens when I get the message- It says Subject:no subject 1 KB and has a download button, after I press it all that happens is it says "Downloading" for hours on end and never actually does. When I send pictures the send spiral just spins endlessly and it doesn't send. My mobile data is on, my WiFi is off and I'm not sure what else I need to do.

View 9 Replies View RelatedAnyone else had abny issues with the back up restore function? I tried to do a software update, to which something seems to have happened. All i can see for the time being is an update to the virtual keyboard. Anyway, lost apps, contacts etc, so went into the menu on the handset and selected back up, restore. Restored numbers etc to phone book and over 150 number details are missing. The back up utility doesn't seem to have backed up all my numbers. Also, any personal photo's of callers etc have either vanished or the photo's are now against the wrong people. So much for this back up service, it's going to take hours, if not days to try to get the phone back tot he way it was!
View 5 Replies View RelatedI was trying to root my samsng behold 2 earlier today using the command codes on theunlockr.com. I thought everything was going well as I went all the way to the last step where it rebooted my behold 2. Problem is, the phone kinda just turned off after doing the reboot command and didn't turn back on by itself (I gave it like 10 minutes). I eventually then just turned on the phone manually and noticed that everything was super laggy. Even when I used taskkiller to kill every task minus GDE, it said I only had 38MB ram available. I rebooted my phone a few times and it was laggy everytime so I decided to do a hard reset. The problem is that when I attempted the hard-reset, it will now get stuck on the samsung screen when trying to load up (stayed there for over 30 minutes). I can still enter the phone if I just start it up regularly without trying to hard-reset, but it will continue to be VERY laggy.
Is there anything I can do to restore this phone back to its original state? I was reading about using ODIN to flash it or something, but for some reason my computer doesn't detect my phone when I go into Download mode on startup (it does however detect the usb drivers on my phone once the phone officially startsup into its homepage).
Today the rom bug bit me and I tried about 3 or 4 different roms (after TIbackup and nand backup of course) including xtrROM and ELB, hated them all, and decided to go back to my beloved sense-able 3.1 nand backup.
wiped, restored, and now all my market links are gone. (except for gmaps, for some reason). TIbackup refuses to even install again from the market because the package signature is incorrect, or something. TIb said it was supposed to restore market links.any suggestions? is there even any way to restore a market link besides just reinstalling the program outright? I found this thread http://androidforums.com/all-things-root-hero/81290-market-does-not-see-all-my-downloads-after-nandroid-restore.html as reference. All my programs will show as "installed" if I search them in market.either way, sense-able was definitely the sexiest-out of the box ROM I tried. everything else without sense was just ugh, looked like I'd loaded up a G1. couldn't tell a speed difference at all with the same setCPU profile, and xtrROM was so bad on battery I only made it through few hours before uninstalling. I cannot live with the sense keyboard and search-dialer.
I Installed Smoked Glass V5.0 from V4.5. I ended up doing it twice, and to make a long story short I lost my files in AK Notebook.
Here's my question:
1. Should I backup my current configuration
2. Then "Restore" my backup prior to upgrade
3. Grab my files (hoping they will be there) toss them on my mac
4. Then just "Restore" back to where I am now?
Need those files by tomorrow, any assistance is much appreciated. It's not that it's an emergency without them, but I will have to do some legwork to gather that info again.
I recently updated my Mini Pro to Android 2.1, I followed the steps on the sonyericssonsupport YouTube video. I did a Backup of all my stuff on the phone, when I'd updated my phone and turned it on it asked me to setup the phone again with the Language, Time & Date etc and now when I try to restore my settings it says "Could Not Restore" when it is almost done.
View 1 Replies View Related I am a longtime iPhone user and I have recently been given a Samsung Galaxy S3 by my employer. In the past I have just used my old Android phone for Tethering with FoxFi so I can have web access at work on my laptop. I literally never made any phone calls with it for over 2 years. I have had the calls forwarded from my Verizon Android phone to my ATT iPhone since the day I got it.
Currently I have a (PERSONAL) iPhone 4 on AT&T with a 3G connection and I have this (WORK CELL) Samsung Galaxy 3 on Verizon 4G LTE.
I would like the ability to fully test out the S3 and leave the iPhone at home if I so choose. Call forwarding either way is not a problem at all. I can forward my iPhone personal calls to my work cell and I can forward my work cell calls to my iPhone (Currently this is how I have it). Call forwarding works great but I am looking for a way to handle text messages in a similar manner.
I would like to have the ability to send and receive text messages using my personal number from my Android Phone. I have Google Voice installed on both phones but I cant seem to get it to work at all or I am not setting it up correctly. I would not mind having texts show up on both devices or in my Gmail inbox. There has to be a way to do this. That way if I leave either phone at home it not a big deal I don't have to carry two phones. Nobody ever texts my work number, my only texts received are to my personal cell.
I want to do a nandroid restore on my phone, do I have to wipe data factory reset and dalvik cache or can I just restore the file? Also, if I renamed the file will it still restore ok?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI downloaded a theme from the market and when I switched scenes back to HTC then back to the one I downloaded, a new wallpaper showed up, which I really like. I didn't like the theme (I think it was causing problems on my phone) so I uninstalled it, but the wallpaper remained (bonus). I have used it on my phone ever since, and now I want to restore my phone to factory default and redo everything in the hopes it will restore the speed my phone once had. I would really like to save the wallpaper but I can't find it anywhere on my phone. I have searched for hours trying to find where it could be or if I could even somehow grab the file being downloaded from the market and extract the wallpaper there. Does anyone know where to find the current home screen wallpaper. I've read that it was in the data directory, but that can only be accessed if you root your phone (i think) which I really don't want to do. I'm just trying to find some way that I can have the wallpaper saved and I can put it back on my phone without having to install the theme (which may or may not have caused the problems on my phone).
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have just done a nand backup, then unrooted (downgrade), then used Unrevoked to root and did a nand restore. Btw that took forever! Anyway after it was said and done the phone rebooted, and viola everything was back on there. The only hitch is since I have done the restore my phone has shut off by itself 3 times. I was ever so reluctant about doing the whole Unrevoked process and this is why. Has anyone else experienced similar issues? Update: It hasn't turned off since after the third time so I guess it's stable now.
