Android :: How To Re-install & Sign Android Built-in Applications?

Jan 20, 2009

I want to customize some built-in applications on android, for example Launcher or Contacts, etc. I've downloaded the source code and compile it by eclipse successfully. But when I tried to run it, a signing error comes: [2009-01-20 16:17:27 - Launcher] Installing Launcher.apk [2009-01-20 16:17:35 - Launcher] Application already exists. Attempting to re-install instead [2009-01-20 16:17:43 - Launcher] Re-installation failed due to different application signatures. Android :: Unsuccessful Install Of Successful Built Apk

Aug 27, 2010

I have a problem with installing an apk (which includes jni libs) on the simulator. The apk is built successfully, but running as Android Application from within eclipse and executing adb install -r path/to/ apk runs also successful, but the app doesn't show up on the app- screen in the simulator. The following is the logcat during the install of the app. I don't see much evidence that there is something wrong with the apk, so I don't know whats going on there. Can someone help me with this? Are there more debugging options for adb install?

HTC Incredible :: Way To Force Particular Applications To Use Built In 8GB Of Phone Storage?

Jul 7, 2010

Is there a way to force particular applications to use the built in 8GB of phone storage? For example, doubletwist automatically syncs to the SD card, ROM Manager saves backups to the SD Card, etc.I find that I have used basically none of my internal memory because nothing recognizes its there in the first place. Is there a custom ROM that allows this? I know it is supposed to be a feature of Froyo, but it seems kind of silly that it doesn't already work or that there wouldn't be a root method to make it work.

HTC Desire ::Unable To Download Applications - Built In Memory?

Aug 11, 2010

1:I am downloading apps from the market and I have bought one. Now for last 24 hours it has been trying to download these and just wont. The one i bought still says authorizing purchase. Now why is this? I still have about 11MB of storage on the phone. 2:Why is there not more in built memory especially if the makers knew ALL applications and games would be installed to the phone? isn't it obvious that should have allowed support to install directly to SD card (like with me old nokia E51?) 3:When is this new Android update coming to the Desire, how do you go about getting it?

Android :: Failed To Install Applications On G1 Through USB

Feb 17, 2009

I follow the instruction to install my toy application, which ran well on my Mac.

1. Within Eclipse, I did "Android Tools-->Export Unsigned Application Package" to save MyApplication.apk into ~/workspace/MyApplication.apk.

2. Now Connect Your G1 Phone to your computer using USB cable. You need to install Drivers for this. Download Android USB drivers from here. This driver is required for adb to interface with an android G1 phone using USB cable.

3. Go to Android Settings/SD card & phone storage and disable Use for USB storage. You can enable it again later after you installed your third-party application.

4. Go to Settings/Application settings and enable Unknown sources.

5. adb install ~/workspace/MyApplication.apk

But this is the error I got: tools > ./adb install ~/Documents/workspace/MyApplication.apk 1644 KB/s (214695 bytes in 0.127s)

pkg: /data/local/tmp/MyApplication.apk Failure [INSTALL_PARSE_FAILED_NO_CERTIFICATES]

Android :: Can Only Install 65MB Of Applications On Desire?

Apr 19, 2010

I've been keeping an eye on the amount of Internal Phone Storage space I have left as it's running very low (9MB) and I've noticed that if I install an application and then uninstall it not all of the space is freed up. I've tried rebooting and that does not help. I don't want to go down the path of do a factory reset and restoring my apps but I can't think of any other way round it.

I added up my installed applications and it only added up to 55MB. I've had to uninstall the recent updates to Maps and Facebook just to free up some space. I can't fit Google Earth on my phone, it's way too big. Does anyone know which folder on the phone applications are installed to? I've found the system apps in/system/app but I'd like to check to see if there's anything left behind from applications that I've uninstalled.

HTC Hero :: Install Applications On SD Card?

Aug 5, 2009

I've been hearing that with android you cannot install apps on an SD memory card? Does that mean you have to use the onboard memory of 512mb? That wont hold many apps AT ALL. If so that is a horrible choice by HTC to not incorporate a big storage and forget about the use of an SD card.

HTC Droid Eris :: Cannot Install Applications / Not Enough Space?

Sep 24, 2010

I have a stock Eris and the other day my sdcard went corrupted. I learned this from when I got the new swype beta email and went to download the .apk. It told me a sdcard was required (I had never taken the sdcard out of the phone to being with). Anyways I brought it to verizon and the guy said it was done and gave me a 16gb card (8 was in there previously). So now I was able to download the .apk file; however when I try to click on it to install it says I can't because there is not enough space on Phone.

Now I don't know how much for it is required. But I have 14gb on the card available and 25mg on the internal phone storage. Now since uninstalling swype and trying to download I haven't added any more apps that would take up additional space. I've actually uninstalled a few, so I should have more space than I did before this whole thing started.

Motorola Droid :: Unroot To Stock 2.1 / Cannot Install Applications

Aug 2, 2010

I've unrooted from Bugless Beast v.4 to a stock 2.1 via How To: Unroot the Motorola Droid | TheUnlockr. So basically I used RSDLite and did the steps listed on that site. I used their .sbf file as well. Everything seems to work except one thing. I cant update or install Facebook, Maps, and Goggles. If you look at the comments in that link, you'll see that a couple of people have the same issue. It says "installation error". "Package file not signed correctly".

I unrooted because I need to send my phone in for a replacement and I'm not trying to void my warranty. When I go into about phone it says:
Firmware version: 2.1-update 1 (which is correct)
Baseband: C_01.3E.03P
Kernal: 2.6.26-omap1-gb5cd919

General :: How To Install Applications / Games To SD Card Of Nexus One

Aug 8, 2013

So I just bought a HTC Nexus Ones as my new Android phone. I've been preparing for this new phone, such as knowing that it's old, I'm going to flash a custom JellyBean ROM to it, ect. Anyways, I've been reading that you cannot install applications to the SD card of a Nexus One, only to the very small 512mb internal memory. I'm wondering what I need to do to be able to install all the apps and games I download and install to the SD card, so I do not run out of space.

General :: Samsung Galaxy S2 I910 - Unable To Move / Install Applications To SD

Apr 13, 2012

i have been unable to move/install apps to my sd card ever since changing to MIUI I'm not sure whether this is a problem with the ROM or not (i think i may have insalled applications to SD on a previous GB version of MIUI)

I am using a rooted Samsung Galaxy S2 I9100 with the latest MIUI based on 4.0.4. before MIUI i was on CM7 stable and i remember messing around with some settings there to try and get my phone to read music off the sd card as well as internal memory-(where all my downloaded music was going). I also may have done a dodgy partition on my old 32gb micro sd or some how partitioned my internal storage of my phone...

I have recently successfully partitioned my Sandisk 64gb micro SDXC to this tutorial...

[URL]...

when i go to move a 'moveable' app eg. Paypal through 'Link2Sd' it comes up with an error saying "pkg:/data/app/com.paypal.android.p2pmobile-1.apk Failure [INSTALL_FAILED_CONTAINER_ERROR]

when i go to move a 'moveable' app through 'App 2 SD Pro' it says 'couldn't move app'

the following are my phones storage details...this last picture was taken before i partitioned my SD

However, when I execute the following command: jarsigner -verbose -keystore android_release_key.keystore My_APK_File.apk android_release and enter my password correctly, I get the following error: jarsigner: unable to sign jar: java.util.zip.ZipException: invalid entry compressed size (expected 1065 but got 1085 bytes) I've signed older versions of the apk multiple times before.
