Oct 6, 2010I'm surprised to see that all of a sudden I cannot sign the apk of the newer versions of an app that I have. After some bugfixes I need to upload an update and hence I need to sign the apk. However, when I execute the following command: jarsigner -verbose -keystore android_release_key.keystore My_APK_File.apk android_release and enter my password correctly, I get the following error: jarsigner: unable to sign jar: java.util.zip.ZipException: invalid entry compressed size (expected 1065 but got 1085 bytes) I've signed older versions of the apk multiple times before. I don't understand why it stopped working now. Do you have any ideas or suggestions what can be going wrong here?

Jun 15, 2010why I'm not able to sign out of Google Talk? I have 2 Gmail accounts and want to switch over to my other one. I unchecked the automatic sign in box in the settings and forced closed and reopened the program again. When I open it, it automatically signs me into one account. It's extremely annoying. I hope I don't have to do a full reset of the phone because I already have so much stuff on it already, including a lot of personal data. This is something that I just can't get by because I need to start using G Talk now.

When the system is installing an update to an application, if any of the certificates in the new version match any of the certificates in the old version, then the system allows the update.
This indicates that an application can be signed with multiple certificates.
This is an interesting option to allow multiple entities to sign an application. e.g: A system application which was initially signed by the device's manufacturer. Further updates could be signed by the developer.
Am I misreading the documentation or is this really possible? If so, how?
Is there any other way for an application to support different certificates and with that, having two or more entities sign it?

Sep 17, 2010Usually when I try to take advantage of the convenience of "Chrome to Phone", I have just got done doing something on my computer, and am about to head somewhere with my phone. But every time I try to use the chrome to phone button on my browser, it always asks me to sign in to Chrome to Phone. Basically, anytime I want to just quickly send a link to my phone, I end up having to log in which just completely ruins any convenience C2P gave me. I am always logged into Google and Gmail when I open my browser, so why doesn't it save the fact that I'm logged into Chrome to Phone? ): Is anyone else experiencing this?

Oct 25, 2010Interesting question for you all. I'm running a rooted Eris on xtrROM 4.6 with all the little bells and whistles. No apps that are out of the ordinary. Just a moment ago I had the little warning triangle with the sign through it. I opened it up and it was a message that said google sign in error.It gave me one of those stylized arrangements of letters that i had to punch to make sure I wasn't a bot. Generally stuff like that makes me fairly wary so I closed it and opened both my gmail folder and google calendar (which I just started using today actually). Both worked fine. Was this a fishing scam of some kind? I've been reading some reports of how fishing scams are coming over through SMS and I've gotten some of the more obvious ones for walmart cards etc, but this one was new to me.

When I launched Google Voice for the first time a dialog showed up and asked, "Sign in as mygoogleacco @gmail.com?" When I clicked the Yes button Google Voice signed in for me ***without*** asking me for any credentials.How do I add this to an application of my own?I want to make an IM / SMS application (leveraging Google Voice and Google Talk services) but I don't want the end-user to have to give me their credentials. When I enter my email and password it says xxxxxxx@something.be does not use gmail and then it suggests alternatives ending at gmail.com.I do not wish to create a new gmail account, I simply want to use the same email and password that I also use on my computer to login to google and latitude and so on. Nov 13, 2009When I bring up my friends list in google latitude, I can NEVER see my profile pic, although it shows up on my friend's maps no problem, and it also shows up when I sign in to latitude on my desktop... WTF? Also it seems to be displaying different pics for some friends on my phone then it does on my desktop. I've located the keystore file in my build directory which is: cacerts.bks, and I have the password for this. What I seem to be missing in order to sign my .apk file is the alias fo the keystore. Does anyone know what the alias is? Or is there an easier way to do this that I'm missing.I know this not a standard thing to do, and is perhaps a hack, but I have a client requirement to meet.

Nov 25, 2010I like both phones a lot. Each has something that it can do better than the other. Now I'm just kinda picking by the carrier. With Verizon, I will most likely have better coverage everywhere I go, which is important because my dad is a truck driver. I will be paying $180 for for 2 lines with 1500 mins, web on both phones, and unlimited texts I will be stuck on 3G, not 4g. i heard that verizon's 3G is still pretty fast though. With T-mobile I will prob have worse coverage everywhere I go. Paying for 3000 mins, unlimited texts, web on both phones, and will be getting DOUBLE the amount of minutes from Verizon AND 30 BUCKS CHEAPER. I will also have access to t-Mobile's "4g", which isn't too good, but will get better over time. So at first glance, it's obvious I should go with tmobile, but because my dad travels all over the place, I don't think he'll always have coverage compared to Verizon. I am located in North New Jersey and my dad usually goes to PA, NY, VA, ML, and CT. So which carrier is best for coverage in the North East?

Mar 3, 2009For a demo to convince other developers of Android i am creating a tip calculator. I'm having problems though in displaying a currency sign using a currency format. When using a DecimalFormat.getCurrencyInstance(), all values formatted using that formatter are formatted with a dollar sign ($). Then when i use the DecimalFormat.getCurrencyInstance(new Local("nl- NL")) or DecimalFormat.getCurrencyInstance(Local.GERMAN) it should use the euro sign. The formatted has a strange block character though.
Question is: Does Android support the euro sign? And how should i be using this.

Everything was ok, until I updated the SDK version (and ADT plugin) to the sdk 2.2.
Now all works ok, even "Export unsigned apk".
BUT - when I select "Export signed pk" from the menu - I get no response - no dialog, nothing.
Anyone else encountered this? Any solution ?

Jun 16, 2011I signed into the Email app(not gmail) with my yahoo account and now I can't log out, I searched for a sign out button but couldnt find one, I'd really hate to factory reset my phone.
2nd question: My phone resets by itself each day most of the time when I'm browsing the market, a question mark will appear over the battery icon or a blocked sign(the circle with the slash running through it) will come up, the screen goes black for 10-15 seconds, the home/back/settings buttons are still lit up. Should I just exchange it for a different one since it's been giving me these problems? Also, Inception came on the phone and now whenever I try and play it, it says file not found. I'm thinking of going to the tmobile store tomorrow and exchanging it for a different one.
