View 9 RepliesRooted my Droid for the first time earlier today, and installed the NexBeast using the handy-dandy Mod Manager. So far everything has been great, but I'm having problems installing non-Market Apps. I'm trying to install a Live Wallpaper from

But I keep receiving an error. Here is a copy from the CMD console:

Been using CM6 for a week or so and wanted to free up some space in my system folder. Is there anything I can remove then reinstall and have it reinstall elsewhere? Or is there anything I can completely delete from my system folder?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI can't seem to be able to re-name files in my /system folder. I am tring to do this in Root Manager and it is telling me that the permissions are set to read only... however if I try to set the permissions in Root Manager it tells me I can't do that...
View 2 Replies View RelatedCan you make a folder within the Apps screen that you pull up? I woild like for instance make a folder called Games and put all the games in this folder to clean up the App Screen a bit. I downloaded App Organizer, but it only seems to put a filder on 1 of the 3 front screens?
View 10 Replies View RelatedI would like to move a few apps (such as Terminal Emulator and OSMonitor) to the /system/app folder. I'm able to get them moved, then chmod them to 644, but upon trying to launch them, they force close. Am I missing something?
View 19 Replies View RelatedI deleted a few system apps (all the social stuff, corp directory, email, etc). In a thread on DroidXForums (this one on the unrooting procedure) someone mentioned that they could not get the .604 update without some of the bloatware. Of course, this freaked me out a bit as I would certainly like to get Froyo when it comes out. So, I went about trying to reinstall the stuff I'd uninstalled. The system dump with all the default apps is here, and below is the procedure to get what you're missing reinstalled and visible as system apps. I used Root Manager but the same procedure should work for Root Explorer. If you prefer ADB I'm sure one of the more competent terminalists here.
-Place the apk(s) of the apps on your sdcard.
-Use your chosen means to copy the apk(s) to /system/app (this will require making /system/app writable. In Root Manager just press the R/W key when you're exploring /system/app).
-You now need to change the app's permissions. In Root Manager, long press on the app (in /system/app) and click on "permissions". Then make sure that only the following boxes are clicked: User Read, User Write, Group Read, Others Read.
-Make sure you make /system/app read only again by clicking that box in the top right while you're exploring the folder.
-Reboot phone.
Now the apps should be loaded and the system should recognize them as system apps (you can verify by opening Titanium and noticing they're in red). This should make you good to go for whatever OTA comes. If you're unsure which apks in the system dump correspond to the apps you've deleted, just explore your /system/app and compare it to the system dump app list. Any apks in the dump but not in yours are what you're looking for.
I am about to go from original kangerade to the newest kangerade with source. I have been through many roms, and i always wipe/data, etc. I also always backup all apps/ data/ system through titanium. I read something a while back in a post which i cannot find about not selecting the red colored items or maybe the green items?I think it may be the red because those are all system apps which will come in the new rom i am flashing. I noticed i had 2 copies of system apps like car home 2.2 and so on, i just wanna be sure before i flash a new rom again.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI've unrooted from Bugless Beast v.4 to a stock 2.1 via How To: Unroot the Motorola Droid | TheUnlockr. So basically I used RSDLite and did the steps listed on that site. I used their .sbf file as well. Everything seems to work except one thing. I cant update or install Facebook, Maps, and Goggles. If you look at the comments in that link, you'll see that a couple of people have the same issue. It says "installation error". "Package file not signed correctly".
I unrooted because I need to send my phone in for a replacement and I'm not trying to void my warranty. When I go into about phone it says:
Firmware version: 2.1-update 1 (which is correct)
Baseband: C_01.3E.03P
Kernal: 2.6.26-omap1-gb5cd919
android-build@apa26 #1
Build: voles-userdebug 2.1-update1 ESE53 25914 test-keys
I'm wondering what every folder contains in the system folder of a Custom/ROM. By system folders i mean:
app
bin
(csc)
etc
fonts
framework
lib
media
T9DB
tts
usr
vsc
xbin
Is it possible to make a folder in the apps and then put all the system apps icons (better keyboard, android icons pack, font packs, etc.) in it so the are hidden?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI finaly have app to as working on the custom rom but certain apps were not moved after I flashed does anyone know the root commands to push apps from the system to the sd ?
View 3 Replies View RelatedThere are currently push notifications available for iPhones, Palm Pre and Blackberries each provided by their respective manufacturer. However I have heard nothing for Androids (probably because google does not actually sell the phones themselves.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI installed today from Market, the Yahoo Mail application and I was reading it offers push message notification technique. Indeed it works, as I got exactly the same moment the alert on my desktop computer and my mobile mail client. How is it accomplished?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am trying to edit the hosts file to access rest services in my local network. Using adb pull I am able to get the hosts file for the emulator and edit it. However I get the error "No space left on device" when I do an adb push.
Does anyone know how to resolve this issue? Can we increase the space for /system? If so how? Are there any other easier ways to access local area network (without creating a DNS server).
I have a stock Eris and the other day my sdcard went corrupted. I learned this from when I got the new swype beta email and went to download the .apk. It told me a sdcard was required (I had never taken the sdcard out of the phone to being with). Anyways I brought it to verizon and the guy said it was done and gave me a 16gb card (8 was in there previously). So now I was able to download the .apk file; however when I try to click on it to install it says I can't because there is not enough space on Phone.
Now I don't know how much for it is required. But I have 14gb on the card available and 25mg on the internal phone storage. Now since uninstalling swype and trying to download I haven't added any more apps that would take up additional space. I've actually uninstalled a few, so I should have more space than I did before this whole thing started.
Anybody knows the install command to install an apk in system/app directory .
View 2 Replies View RelatedI can't seem to figure out how to use the web installer. Where do you go on the website to push the app to install.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm sure that you all have already known AppBrain's Fast Web Installer which is able to programmatically install free applications in android market to the device.
How could it be possible ?

Im trying to make my own ROM for my android device. Im following a guide from this site. The guide explain two ways to get the system folder copy to my sd card.
First of all using de Android terminal emulator, and using comands. I tried that way but it keeps telling me: SH TAR: not found
Then other way i tried from ES explorer, copying de system folder manually but at 45% of copyng pop up a error about " cant copy run -as"

I was using Astro and i found the folder on the Hero that has all the boot images, sounds, and animations. i was trying to create my own custom animations and put them in there to replace the others. Well when i try to copy the files into the folder it says i have insufficient permission so i was wondering if anyone knew of a way around that without rooting or something like that!

View 1 Replies View RelatedI was trying to create more space. I saw the apps folder and moved it to somewhere else. Then my phone started crashing, so i turned it off. When i turned it back on i got a bootloop. My phone is rooted and i have an alacatel one touch 983. It keeps showing the o2 logo. I think this is because there is no launcher.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have installed ADB and the whole Android SDK to root my asus transformer infinity (tf700t). I have taken all the steps every forum on the web describes: installing everything trough the manager, adjusting the path in the System Variables, and finally it getting it to work together with my tablet. However, when I try to flash/copy/install files from my folder (yes these files are in the same folder as adb.exe and fastboot.exe, which is the folder I used in the System Variables) It can't either find these files or it cannot open these files. When i put in the command 'path' however. I does give me the path where the files can be found.
