Jun 14, 2010I am a Droid user at the moment, but am considering moving to the EVO next month, and I have a question regarding the LED's on the phone. My wife has to have complete darkness in the room at night and even a charging light bothers her she says (wtf, I just close my eyes and I cant see it, but whatever).
Anyway, on the Droid there is a program called LEDs hack that allows us to turn off all the notification and soft-button LED's when charging, so I am wondering if anything similar is available for the EVO yet. Also, can the charging light itself be disabled? It could not on the droid, but the home dock covered that one completely, so no big deal.
HTC Incredible :: Disable Message When Charging With USB?
Sep 7, 2010I've tried searching, but apparently don't know the right search criteria to find what I'm looking for.
I've seen it posted how to disable the Verizon pop up when you just want to charge from your USB, and I did it initially, but then I did a factory re-set and it's popping back up.
Does anyone have the directions for removing that again?
HTC EVO 4G :: Disable Automatic Backlight Dimming While Charging
Jun 11, 2010I'm running into an issue, that I'm sure many of you have ran into at some point and found a way around. When I have my Phone Plugged into the Charger (For example when in my car) after a set amount of time (I think it's around 30 seconds) my screen will Dim to only about 25% brightness(But never shut off completely). As you can imagine, this is horribly inconvenient when I'm running Google maps or sprint navigation. How can I make it, so that when I'm charging the phone, the screen just always stays on and does not dim at all? And then when I'm on battery the screen resumes the normal behavior of shutting off after 30 seconds. I've tried setting the "Stay Awake" option under "Applications > Development" to on, I've also tried setting the "Automatic Brightness" option under "Sound & Display > Brightness" to off. Neither of these worked.

Oct 23, 2010Is there a way to stop the Droid X from charging when it's connected via USB? Here's the situation. I take a train to commute to work, it's about a 90 minute ride, and there's no AC power. I like to use my laptop during the commute to get some work done, and with my new droid I bought an app that tethers the internet connection, but only over USB.
Problem is, when it's connected over USB, the laptop battery charges the phone, and the laptop dies after about 45-60 minutes. Without the phone connected, I can use it for my whole commute. So I really need to be able to disable the charging while still maintaining the data connection from the phone to the laptop.

Apr 11, 2010I have had my desire for a couple of weeks now and loving it, just one point thats frustrating the hell out of me is why when sending a text message using the "phone" style keypad you can't disable the XT9 setting, I've turned it off in settings etc., and it will still default back to XT9 when you navigate away to add a smiley etc. Maybe I am missing something obvious! but I detest predictive texting - prefer to type my own letters. Any app that will sort this?

Aug 26, 2010I enabled APN in the settings. But, I want to be able to enable/disable my APN so I can be sure that I'm not getting charged for using the Internet when I'm not. On the top of my screen I see an E with 2 arrows, one pointing up and one pointing down, when I turn my WiFi on this disappears and is replaced by a WiFi icon, and I don't get charged for browsing. But I want to be able to turn APN on and off, I can't uncheck the option for APN which I chose, and the application I downloaded does not work. The icon remains there when I'm not connected to a router even if APN is disabled.

Before I disassemble the cig lighter adapter I have and put it inside the console, I want to make sure that it's one that can provide a full charge, not just a trickle. I'd read that the trick is to get one rated at 1000mA which I did, but I've also read that some charger with that rating still can't provide more than a trickle charge. Short of plugging in my phone to that charger and using it for a while to see how quickly it charges, is there any way to see if the phone is getting a trickle or full charge?

Jun 7, 2010After a lot of digging around on the forums I found a tip for a problem that I find very aggravating.Problem: When you plug your phone into a PC, even if you choose charge only, the SD card is shared over the USB to the PC and you cannot access it directly from the phone. This has just got to be a bug, and as an aside...anyone know if this is fixed in froyo? Workaround: If instead of charge only, you select share out as a usb drive(or whatever that option is), you can then click on the icon at the top left of the home screen that shows new alerts and current running apps and select that same option again. The same screen comes up and you can then change it back to charge only.When you do this, the SD card is unshared and can be used normally on the phone.
HTC Desire HD :: Phone Not Charging
Nov 22, 2010I noticed last night that my Desire HD wasn't charing, I had it plug'ed into the socket, then tried charging it via my laptop and then X box 360, the orange light stayed on until I went to sleep, but when I woke up, the battery was still orange, around 25% full. I don't know if its relevant, but I had upgraded the firmware around the day before, anything to do with it? Phoned up e2 Save who said I need to take it to the Car phone warehouse tomorrow, but wondering if there is something I can do at home?
