HTC Droid Eris :: Text Area Greyed Out - Unable To Enter Text
Jan 13, 2010Ocassionaly, when responding to a text, the area you type in for me that says "Tap to compose" is greyed out and when I type, nothing happens. Usually requires a reboot. Anyone have any idea why it would be doing this or how to fix it? I love my phone, but the reboots take forever.

In other words, is there a way to transmit a text such that another phone, within range and using my app, could receive that text? Proposed app: The_Haiti_Phone: All cell towers and land lines are down. I would create a text msg to my wife's phone and my special app would send it. All cell phones in range would pass it on. When the packet's receiver's ID matches a cell phone's ID, the msg displays to the user. In summary, in a catastrophe, all cell phones with my app act as cell towers.

Sep 16, 2010When I try sending a text to an email via handcent, it doesn't show to text.My mom sends me texts via email when shes at work and I'm not able to respond unless I use the native android text app.Does anyone know how to fix this problem, or is this just not possible with handcent?

Aug 20, 2010I love handcent but got an issue. Text are disapearing from handcent. I recieve them and I see them in handcent but a few hours later its gone from handcent ( shows the last text as text from like a month ago) just started happening 2 weks ago. I tried removing handcent and re-installing. Even tried an older version. still happens. I can see the lastest text in the list of text BUT when I open that persons text its not there. And its all in the Stock Text app.

Apr 28, 2010I recently downloaded handcent and I made it my default messenger. When I get a text message I get a notification from Handcent as well as the stock messenger. So my phone vibrates twice and I get two notifications. The only way I can get the notification icon off the top left is to clear it. When I click it, its just takes me to handcent.

When long pressing an input field, my only options are for keyboard selection - Android keyboard or Handcent keyboard. No option for voice/speech to text input. No microphone icon anywhere on Handcent app screen.Installed TTS extended as suggested on handcent.com website - no change.What am I missing?

Aug 1, 2010I'm trying to buy an app (NavDroyd) for my HTC Desire but when I hit "Buy" it comes up with two buttons, "Credit Card" and "Cancel". "Credit card" is greyed out so all I can do is hit "Cancel" and go back round in the circle.This is the first time I've tried to buy an app.Can anyone tell me what to do next ? I've tried to help myself but a good hour going round the Android and Google troubleshooters and whatever else they are called has been unsuccessful.

Nov 7, 2010I've been using handcent for almost a year now. 2 weeks ago, right at it, one of my most frequently used contacts for texting disappeared from handcent. The text comes through on board messenger but wont cross over to handcent. Out of 90 or so contacts this is the only contact with that issue. The contact is an AT&T contact, all other AT&T contacts work fine. I've removed the contact, reset the phone with battery removed, made new contact and still the same. It's almost like the number/name is cursed. This "cursed contact" comes through handcent on my wife's phone just fine.

Oct 20, 2009Since a few days, we get an increasing number of reports of users that are unable to uninstall multiple of our applications. Often people give a 1 star rating in the market then, is it possible to fix this?
Our users comments are for instance: "Uninstalled it yet still appears as installed with buttons greyed out" "This has been uninstalled from my phone for about a month and the icon won't go away. I'll click it and its like I have it installed." "Its a fun app until you decide to uninstall it. It then shows as installed in the market and seemingly a fixture. Can't get rid of it."
This is for 3 different apps, and none of these apps have been forward- locked. We have told some users that emailed us already that they should try rebooting their phone because the market sometimes gets stuck, but that didn't help.

Feb 12, 2010I get a poor signal at home (did on my Nokia), so half the time when I send a text, there won't be a signal to send it. I always then go and put my phone in a place where there is a signal and leave it..
With my Nokias, the phone would send it fairly quickly (usually within 10-15 minutes).
The message is still sat in Handcent with the whirling round icon next to it. If I copy the message, and resend it, whilst there's a signal, away it goes. I can't find any way to force the send when I want, and I left the resend in a signal area for 1hr 15 mins and it still hadn't sent..
General :: Clear Credentials Is Greyed Out
Oct 29, 2012Im using Jelly Bean. I have a ton of "trusted credentials" which i dont know where they came from. (a few are in another language, which makes me concerned). I would like to clear them all out, but doing them one by one would be extremly tedious and time consuming. I see their is an option to remove all certificates, however it is disabled/grayed out.

Sep 3, 2010Has anyone else noticed that you can't send a text message to more than 10 people at a time through the stock text messaging app ever since Froyo? This was a major blow to me as I coach a softball team and have to send out a text message to 15 or more people every week. It worked before Froyo but not anymore.
Handcent allows this, so I switched over to it. But now I am getting double notifications when I receive a text message. How do I turn "off" the stock text messaging app?

Nov 29, 2010I apologize for the topic, I understand this is a common question because I did search around before posting this.I know that I need to go into the stock messaging program and disable notifications for that program. However I have been messing around with trying to delete/block programs that I don't need or want to see and I don't think I could have uninstalled the stock program because I'm still getting double notifications (one from stock and one from handcent), so I was going to go to the stock one and disable notifications.But I can't find it anywhere on my system whatsoever. Even when I get the notification pop-up it doesn't give me an option to open the whole program, just the notification and option to reply. So is there somewhere it could be hiding that I'm not looking? Or can I reinstall it, if so how?

Oct 3, 2010Using Handcent for texts, but went into the Messages app and saw a bunch of "ghost" messages with a date of 12/31/69 (tap on the messages and they don't load). It turns out that when I receive a text it displays the correct date and time in both Handcent and Messages, but when I delete in in Handcent it goes into this "ghost" state in Messages. Has anybody else run into this?
