Android :: Logcat Tab In Eclipse DDMS Persepctive - ADT Plugin - Keeps Coming Up Blank
Oct 28, 2010I have seen this problem off and on while running the Eclipse (Galileo) under Fedora 11-13, whether the target is my device or an emulator. But now with my new device, the HTC T-Mobile G2 (Android 2.2), I see it much more frequently: I successfully download the app (complete with lots of Log.d() calls), the system successfully launches it, but the LogCat pane in the DDMS perspective is completely blank.
Sometimes, only sometimes, I seem to be able to kick it into action by clicking on the tool for Debug (the little bug one). But that doesn't even work all the time. Worse yet, it forces me to restart the whole program, which is very cumbersome.
And yes, I did remember to connect the device and make sure the device shows up under "adb devices", AND make sure that is the device the ADT downloaded to. I can even hit breakpoints in the code.
I suppose I could try relying only on the debugger, but I put a lot of work into writing those Log.d statements in the right place, it would be a giant leap backwards to do without them now. So any suggestions concerning what the problem might be, workarounds, or how to find relevant bugs logged against either ADT, SDK or the G2, would be welcome.
Google searches such as "android ddms logcat" have not helped so far.
I have also considered running ddms from the commandline, but the instructions on how to do this wtihout conflicting with the port already chosen by ADT for running DDMS are not clear enough to inspire confidence: so I always quit Eclipse before running the command line version of ddms. But then I lose the handy ability (provided by Eclipse) of navigating my source code while reading the log, so this too, is an inferior solution. Perhaps if someone can connect a few more of the dots in Google's instructions on this by explaining how to get the device and command-line DDMS to agree on a port while still running Eclipse, that would be a good solution.

At the moment I am using the default htc email widget, however when ever I read an email from my gmail account it doesnt update the read status so it still shows as unread.
I would like one that would update the read status and possible the support for unified inbox so I can see new mail from hotmail account and gmail.
HTC Desire :: Message Alert Icon Shows Message - But No Message
May 26, 2010I've been having a problem with my desire home screen (in particular the sms icon) and I'm wondering if anyone else knows how to fix it.
Recently my messages icon has been showing the little "1" in a green circle indicating I have an unread message. Problem is, I've gone through every list of messages I have on the device and there are no messages I haven't read and the "1" stays there. The only ways I've found to get rid of it are to either delete the icon and then put it back or to use Advance Task Killer and kill messages application. I'm not using any fancy apps for messages, just the default one.
My email counter is always perfect, this only seems to affect my sms. Also, my girlfriend told me she sent me a message a few days ago, but I never received it. Not sure if that's a happy coincidence, or if the phone got the message, is telling me I haven't read it, but isn't displaying it for me to see. All the other messages from her are plainly visible.

Oct 22, 2010Anyone else have this problem? You read an email (or delete an email) from Aol. Ally syncs to check for new emails, and the emails you have read or deleted pop up again as new emails. Extremely frustrating and inconvenient, and was wondering if anyone else has this problem, and if there's a solution. Spoke to LG tech support and their solution was to delete the Aol IMAP account and add it again as a POP3 account, then select the 'Delete From Server' checkbox. (and they're supposedly working on a fix. this problem cropped up after i installed an update in August.) This solution seems to have solved that problem, but now it takes forever for Aol to sync with my Ally; and it drains the battery. I set up GMail to sync up with Aol, but it's not instantaneous. Sometimes i don't get new emails for 30 minutes or more. Not good for business. And the Aol mail mobile web page is slow.

All of my contacts numbers and in 10 digits example: 123 - 456 - 7890 this only happens with certain contacts but I don't see what the issue is. Does anyone else get this issue or know how to fix it?
HTC Desire :: Phone Shows All Contacts In Message
Aug 5, 2010My friend has just got a Desire and is having a problem with her contacts. She has chosen to just put contacts in People manually and link them to Google and Facebook manually, which is fine, but when she goes to call or message someone, the phone brings up all of the contacts on her phone (e.g. the Google and Facebook ones) rather than just those stored in People. This is really annoying as it means she has to scroll through loads of people she'll never want to call/text. We've tried going to Accounts & Sync and unsyncing contacts but that hasn't worked. Any suggestions?

Sep 24, 2010In my contacts list when I press the contacts button, I see each contact once. I have it set to only show contacts from my phone. When I go to send a text message and press contacts, my contacts are there multiple times, but I can't see any differences because they are named the same. For example, my son Adam shows up twice in the contact list in text messaging, but only once when I press contacts from my home page.
