So 60% of the time I try to text I start texting and nothing shows up in the message box. the letters don't show. I have to back out of he messaging and use the task manager to end the application.

I have rooted it and installed rom manager. when i have changed some setting by using rom tool box (I do not remember what i did. This i did only for curiosity). My phone did not start, only show big green android logo. I can enter recovery mode and also FTM mode.
I've been having a problem with my desire home screen (in particular the sms icon) and I'm wondering if anyone else knows how to fix it.
Recently my messages icon has been showing the little "1" in a green circle indicating I have an unread message. Problem is, I've gone through every list of messages I have on the device and there are no messages I haven't read and the "1" stays there. The only ways I've found to get rid of it are to either delete the icon and then put it back or to use Advance Task Killer and kill messages application. I'm not using any fancy apps for messages, just the default one.
My email counter is always perfect, this only seems to affect my sms. Also, my girlfriend told me she sent me a message a few days ago, but I never received it. Not sure if that's a happy coincidence, or if the phone got the message, is telling me I haven't read it, but isn't displaying it for me to see. All the other messages from her are plainly visible.
First : Year shows only for received message and is 1970..! How to fix?
Second : Some SMS get deleted after there are more than XXX?
My friend has just got a Desire and is having a problem with her contacts. She has chosen to just put contacts in People manually and link them to Google and Facebook manually, which is fine, but when she goes to call or message someone, the phone brings up all of the contacts on her phone (e.g. the Google and Facebook ones) rather than just those stored in People. This is really annoying as it means she has to scroll through loads of people she'll never want to call/text. We've tried going to Accounts & Sync and unsyncing contacts but that hasn't worked. Any suggestions?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI can text anyone outside my area code, but when I try it with anyone in my area code I get a message that says to use the proper 10 digit phone number. I understand what that means, and have the 10 digit numbers programed for all my contacts, but when I hit on a contact and hit the text button only the 7 digit number comes up. That works fine with voice calls, but not with texting. I've been through my phone 20 times trying to find a way to make it use a 10 digit number for texting, can't find it.

When I go to send a text message and press contacts, my contacts are there multiple times, but I can't see any differences because they are named the same. For example, my son Adam shows up twice in the contact list in text messaging, but only once when I press contacts from my home page.

For some, when I select them it sends an email and not a text. I'm looking to upgrade my phone. Aside from normal phone use my main goal is to get a phone that will send a text message to a very large group of people all at once. My current phone Samsung Epic 4g Touch will do this but i have to create the message and then from the address box go to the group and one by one touch in each member (almost 200 in the group). I have my groups already but i would like to just add the whole group all at once. I don't care about the responses being in the same thread or anything else, I just want to add the group all at once to the address box.

I'm going to Canada tomorrow and Verizon said that 3G is included in my plan but regular texting/calling is extra when out of the country.
I want to be able to make/receive calls from my friends in Canada with me AND be able to communicate with friends still in the states without any of us incurring further charges.
My assumption is that I will need to utilize apps that work with Google Voice. I don't believe the native GV app handles texts or calls itself though.

I'm finding one particular feature of texting on my S3 mini difficult...It occurs mostly when using non-predictive, which would be fine since I primarily use predictive. But also is an issue when using the ",.?" key (numeric 1) in predictive too.
If I need to use two letters in a row which are on the same numeric key, there's a really long pause before the phone accepts the letter and allows you to re-use the same key for the next letter. Is there any way to speed this up or skip the pause in some way? On old-school phones you could just press > (or whatever key is used to move forward a space - not space bar tho) to skip the process. But nothing works on the S3 mini.
Any way round this or is it just a thing I have to put up with? For e.g. it's particularly annoying when I want to use two question marks in a row "??"....
After owning every model of the iPhone, I bought an HTC One several weeks ago. There are *so* many things I love about this phone and I don't see going back to an iPhone until such time as Apply starts innovating again.
Anyway, there is one thing that I am having issues with. Maybe it's an HTC thing. Maybe it's a Gmail thing. Maybe it's an Android thing. I was able to email and text good quality videos from my iPhone. When I emailed them, the videos were HD quality; just as they were taken. When I texted them, the phone compressed them before sending but the quality was still excellent after compression. On my HTC One, I always get an error message saying the file size is too big when I attempt to attach a video file. The only way to text videos is to change video quality to MMS (176 x 144) which, as you can imagine, looks like shiznit.
I just recently bought the Samsung Galaxy Exhilarate and I updated to ICS this morning.The update worked fine with the exception of my text messaging.Every text I try to send fails. If I go into the details of the text message it says

i have faced on my Micromax Smarty 4 A68 is that whenever I receive any message or Missed call on my phone, notification is not visible on the message icon and the phone icon. This is the reason i am using Holo Launcher and Apex launcher and unable to use Nova launcher or xperia launcher.
View 6 Replies View RelatedWhen I start a new thread for sending a text, I look up the person in my contact list. The problem is that for some people I have multiple points of contact. (ie cell phone, home phone, fax, email address) Let's say that I want to text a person named Jason. If I have 6 people in my contact list named Jason, by the time I type in the 5 letters in Jason (I haven't limited it by their last name yet) I could still have 24 contacts, if every one of those Jason's had a cell, home, fax, and email in my contact list.
Is it possible to have my phone or the settings on my contact list or settings in my texting/messaging application set so that only mobile phones show up in the contact list when Im IN the texting application?
Even if there is a unique name I don't like having to select that person's cell number contact - as opposed to their email, fax, or home contact when I just want to send a quick text.
For 2 years I've said a few words, waited for the droid to process them, said a few more words, waited, etc. About a month ago something happened such that if I pause in my speech, what I say next deletes everything I've said before and starts over.

I can adjust to just say what I want to text, but heaven forbid I pause a second or so to gather my thoughts.
Every time I upload a pic, text, or email from my Droid Razr the pic is stretched horizontally. The pics look fine on my phone, but when I look at them on any other device it's as if the vertical dimensions are reduced by about 25% (or horizontally increased)
I've changed all the normal settings for the default camera and played with them all, nothing works. Only thing I can do is upload pics to my desktop and use an image editor to increase the vertical size about 25%, which is very tedious and frustrating.
My question, is it possible for me to somehow get the stock Touchwiz texting app on a Samsung S3 running CyanogenMod 10.1.3? I'm not really a fan of how the Google one is set up.
