Feb 18, 2010I just got a Android Eris and plugged the USB cord into my computer and phone, it looked like it was going to work, then said it needed to install a file from the cd (I have no idea what that means). I am at school right now and forgot the name of the file it needed, but I have no idea how to do this. I want to tether my phone to the computer with PDAnet but can't even get my phone connected to the computer. I also want to put music on the phone. I am on Windows XP. If you need more info, I can get it when I get home from school. Just hoping there is an easy step I am overlooking.

Aug 11, 2010I am trying to use the SDK's DDMS utility to capture screens off my Droid X. I have installed the Java JDK and the Android SDK. I set up the USB driver on my Windows laptop and connected my Droid X to the USB port. Windows XP can see the Droid just fine in Windows Explorer as a removable USB device, but the DDMS utility shows no devices. Running "adb devices" in a DOS window lists no devices either. Yes, the java.exe location has been added to my PATH. Yes, the Droid is set to allow USB debugging. So why can't DDMS see my phone?

When my app starts, the startup activity checks one of these references, in this case a Location, and if it is null, it starts the LocationListeners which populate the reference for further use.If I back out of the app to the launcher screen, and re-launch it, the Application object still has the reference from the previous use a few moments prior. This is fine, and is what I'd expect, but I'm curious how long the Application object is kept around once I've back'ed out of my application? (onDestroy() has been called on all activities, nothing in the stack.)When is it finally killed? I know it does finally get killed as when I've not used the app in a while, it will search for location on startup (indicating the aforementioned null reference.)

- the stick loads with wifi internet connection preset
- the system automaticaly opens browser in full screen mode with predefined starting page
- the user cannot change settings
Is it posible to make this with some aps (I hope free) or is it better to get some modified ROM (which?). I know this functionality is used in so called KIOSK modes, but as I can see all this software is very expensive.

Sep 17, 2010Trying to connect a HTC Hero to my computer, it used to connect ok as i used to use the phone as a modem for my laptop, but now instead of the charger light coming on & charging and the little symbol saying it was connected in the top elft of the screen it ONLY charges the phone but the little symbol doesnt come up in the top left and i cant find the device on my computer, iv tried new cables etc but still no joy, any ideas?

HTC Hero :: Sync Not Connecting To Phone
Feb 22, 2010I have just installed HTC Sync 2.0.18 on both my computers and none of them will recognize my phone when I connect it. One of the computers is a Dell Inspiron 9400 running Vista and the other is a MacBook Pro running Windows 7 under VMWare Fusion 3.0.2.HTC Sync 2.0.18 should work in Windows 7 and definitely under Vista so I don't understand what I'm doing wrong. On both computers I'm running AVG Antivirus 9.0 Free, on which I disabled resident shield during installations, as recommended.

Oct 21, 2012i got an S3.. and my computer has xp pro. i had to restore my computer recently from a saved image of my system. before i restored my computer, i was able to connect my S3 to it via USB with no problem. but after i restored it, i'm unable to.
i downloaded and installed the MTP driver, which got my computer to recognize my phone before i restore it. but now its not working and i dont see it listed in Device Manager. whats weird is that when i connect my S3 to my computer, the phone doesnt give any notifications that the phone is connected to USB like it used to before. and it also doesnt give me the 2 options of connecting by either MTP or Camera. all it does is charge my phone.

Sep 26, 2010tried usb debugging tried it off.. when i plug it in nothing will pop up that will say it is. it will charge.. but thats about it. it wont let me change from pc mode to mass storage.. upgraded drivers.. tried Motorola media link.. tried turning it off with the sd card unmounted.. tried removing the battery.. did a hard restore. i tried on 3 computers in my house. nothing seems to be working out. all i want to do is put a video from my phone to my pc.

Sep 9, 2010If we put aside the fact that Kies has many problems and that connecting the phone through usb is a real pain I found a solution that some of you might be interested in. I wasn't able to connect to KIES a few days ago no matter what I tried. I wanted to back up some contacts etc but couldn't. Also I wanted it to work in case froyo comes out.
Anyway I found out the reason why it didn't work. Instead of using touchwiz I was using the launcher pro interface. Turned out that if I wanted to connect to KIES I had to switch back to the touchwiz interface and then connect the USB. Don't ask me why this worked but it did.. So if you have problems with KIES and aren't using touchwiz my advice is to put it back on in case you need to connect to KIES.

Nov 9, 2010At least once a day, when someone calls me or I call someone else, I can't hear anything, even the dialing. When I call back, sometimes it sounds like I got some completely different person. The third time, it usually connects properly. This started before I installed the last 2 updates. Anyone have this problem or know how to fix it?
My partner's phone has started rebooting randomly about every other day. This started with the most recent update. Common side effect of the update? Is there any fix?

However, in my car I normally listen to all my music through a flash drive plugged into a usb port from my deck. So I figured that I could charge my phone through the USB(won't have to buy car charger then) and listen to the music right off of the phone at the same time....well my phone charges fine through it but I can not get my music to play??? I have never had a single problem with the flash drive and I've tried all the different ways to use the USB connection (mass storage/media etc). Do I need to move my files some where download an app or anything like that to get it to work?? Or is it even possible. I have also tried BT audio but I can't make it work either (i've had it work with the iphone before).

Apr 16, 2010Here's the deal. Downloaded Motorola Media Link. I open it up select connect so I can connect my Droid to my pc ofcourse. This is were the problem starts to occur. When I select connect it tells me 1 handset found being my droid. I do mount the phone from the notification bar and always end up with detection failed. I have the option to click here to learn more and all it tells me is make sure you mount your phone. Any suggestions.
