have kies installed on my computer, tried uninstalling, reinstalling..still no hope
when i connect my phone to comp it says device not recognized
i dont think there is any problem with my cord, because i just root my bros captivate today with the cord i have.

i got an S3.. and my computer has xp pro. i had to restore my computer recently from a saved image of my system. before i restored my computer, i was able to connect my S3 to it via USB with no problem. but after i restored it, i'm unable to.
i downloaded and installed the MTP driver, which got my computer to recognize my phone before i restore it. but now its not working and i dont see it listed in Device Manager. whats weird is that when i connect my S3 to my computer, the phone doesnt give any notifications that the phone is connected to USB like it used to before. and it also doesnt give me the 2 options of connecting by either MTP or Camera. all it does is charge my phone.
Is there any way or application that when someone connect my phone to pc , it showes drivers and files but can not copy files from pc to android or android to pc.

View 6 Replies View RelatedTrying to connect a HTC Hero to my computer, it used to connect ok as i used to use the phone as a modem for my laptop, but now instead of the charger light coming on & charging and the little symbol saying it was connected in the top elft of the screen it ONLY charges the phone but the little symbol doesnt come up in the top left and i cant find the device on my computer, iv tried new cables etc but still no joy, any ideas?

I am at school right now and forgot the name of the file it needed, but I have no idea how to do this. I want to tether my phone to the computer with PDAnet but can't even get my phone connected to the computer. I also want to put music on the phone. I am on Windows XP. If you need more info, I can get it when I get home from school. Just hoping there is an easy step I am overlooking.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have just installed HTC Sync 2.0.18 on both my computers and none of them will recognize my phone when I connect it. One of the computers is a Dell Inspiron 9400 running Vista and the other is a MacBook Pro running Windows 7 under VMWare Fusion 3.0.2.HTC Sync 2.0.18 should work in Windows 7 and definitely under Vista so I don't understand what I'm doing wrong. On both computers I'm running AVG Antivirus 9.0 Free, on which I disabled resident shield during installations, as recommended.
View 7 Replies View Relatedtried usb debugging tried it off.. when i plug it in nothing will pop up that will say it is. it will charge.. but thats about it. it wont let me change from pc mode to mass storage.. upgraded drivers.. tried Motorola media link.. tried turning it off with the sd card unmounted.. tried removing the battery.. did a hard restore. i tried on 3 computers in my house. nothing seems to be working out. all i want to do is put a video from my phone to my pc.
View 4 Replies View RelatedIf we put aside the fact that Kies has many problems and that connecting the phone through usb is a real pain I found a solution that some of you might be interested in. I wasn't able to connect to KIES a few days ago no matter what I tried. I wanted to back up some contacts etc but couldn't. Also I wanted it to work in case froyo comes out.
Anyway I found out the reason why it didn't work. Instead of using touchwiz I was using the launcher pro interface. Turned out that if I wanted to connect to KIES I had to switch back to the touchwiz interface and then connect the USB. Don't ask me why this worked but it did.. So if you have problems with KIES and aren't using touchwiz my advice is to put it back on in case you need to connect to KIES.
At least once a day, when someone calls me or I call someone else, I can't hear anything, even the dialing. When I call back, sometimes it sounds like I got some completely different person. The third time, it usually connects properly. This started before I installed the last 2 updates. Anyone have this problem or know how to fix it?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI am trying to use the SDK's DDMS utility to capture screens off my Droid X. I have installed the Java JDK and the Android SDK. I set up the USB driver on my Windows laptop and connected my Droid X to the USB port. Windows XP can see the Droid just fine in Windows Explorer as a removable USB device, but the DDMS utility shows no devices. Running "adb devices" in a DOS window lists no devices either. Yes, the java.exe location has been added to my PATH. Yes, the Droid is set to allow USB debugging. So why can't DDMS see my phone?

However, in my car I normally listen to all my music through a flash drive plugged into a usb port from my deck. So I figured that I could charge my phone through the USB(won't have to buy car charger then) and listen to the music right off of the phone at the same time....well my phone charges fine through it but I can not get my music to play??? I have never had a single problem with the flash drive and I've tried all the different ways to use the USB connection (mass storage/media etc). Do I need to move my files some where download an app or anything like that to get it to work?? Or is it even possible. I have also tried BT audio but I can't make it work either (i've had it work with the iphone before).
Here's the deal. Downloaded Motorola Media Link. I open it up select connect so I can connect my Droid to my pc ofcourse. This is were the problem starts to occur. When I select connect it tells me 1 handset found being my droid. I do mount the phone from the notification bar and always end up with detection failed. I have the option to click here to learn more and all it tells me is make sure you mount your phone. Any suggestions.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI don't know if this is a common problem with the Behold 2 or not, but my phone isn't automatically reconnecting to wifi after waking up from sleep.I have to manually toggle the wifi switch to off and then back on for it to reconnect.I'm using Warheads Rom with new kernal if that helps at all.

Yesterday my phone stopped connecting to facebook.It doesn't update in the people anymore, but does just fine with the fb app from the market.I thought maybe I did something to screw it up so I decided to reset the phone and start over.Now I have nothing linked to facebook and not sure if there is a setting I'm overlooking or not.When I go into the people app, and then try to link someone I know is a friend,it pulls up nobody for any option.Anyone else having an issue with this?Any suggestions for fixing this?I have tried syncing through the settings>account and syc. I got my DInc replaced, and im putting some media back on my phone. When I mounted my phone im getting 3 drives now. E drvie which is my phone storage F drive which is my memory card and a new super secret D drive, which has weird content in it.a program called TL-Bootstrap.exe?? Any ideas of what the hell this is. I was wondering if anyone knows how to stop the Desire/android from automatically connecting to specific wifi networks. I have a wifi network at home which I want the phone to always connect to when in range. I also have a wifi network at work, that I only want to connect to from time to time to update the calendar and download emails. Currently I have to turn off wifi when at work until I need it, but I've had this working before. I'm on my second Desire as the Orange 2.2 update fubar'd the first , my first phone would always ask me if I wanted to connect to the works wifi, the new one just connects straight away, and it will only be a matter of time before my twitter app gets me into trouble.

View 28 Replies View RelatedI have an HTC Evo, recently switched from an iphone. Loaded just a few songs on my Evo to test out the USB to car stereo connection and it works. But I liked the way iphone worked with the stereo better because all the Evo does is show is let me browse through folders like an mp3 CD would. The iphone would let me browse through artists, albums, playlists, genre, etc, etc all from using the controls on my steering wheel. Sooooo, does anybody know of an android app that will make my car stereo browse artists, albums and playlists like it could with iphone. I know its not a big deal but it would be more convenient, probably only advantage my iphone had over Evo.
