Apr 24, 2010i recently edited the advanced launcher apk to theme the app drawer and a few other small things. the edits worked prefectly and i'm loving the new look except for one thing...the scrollbar in the app drawer! it is grey (of course) and i would like to change it to blue. i have looked and looked and can't find the file to change. is it even in the apk or does advanced laucher get the scrollbar from framework-res.apk?

Apr 10, 2009why a picture taking application works on some phones and not on others? The app was tested with the 1.1 emulator and the 1.0 developer phone. Some customers reported that they could not find the resulting pictures using the Picture application after they powered off the phone and powered it back on to cause a new media scan. Others find them just fine (in the dcim/camera directory). Are there any known conflicts for applications taking pictures? The only other thing I can think of is that the developer phone, currently at 1.0, will function differently at 1.1, however, the app works on the 1.1 version of the emulator.

Jun 27, 2010The application I have uploaded into my cellular device is shown without the pictures I have insert to it. While the APK runs without problems on emulator when installed on Motorola milestone picture and icon doesn't shown as they were on emulator.
Steps I have done in order to install:
- I have inserted the xxx.apk file into the device via usb
- I downloaded an apps installer via the Market
- I opened the app using the installer and instead of picture an white background appeared
when I opened the xxx.apk file using file system I found the pictures.
Note: even an application icon weren't appearing. Apparently the res library having problem to be bined to application.
- I might need to add something to my appliction manifest?
- I might need to change something on my device ? (I already made a change and enabled user's not Market application).
I also tried an example as shown in hello android book the same example worked perfectly on the emulator where on my android device (Motorola milestone) the picture and icon weren't shown. Please tell me what I might be doing wrong guys I need to apply my project back at uni (I was the only one in uni who did it on android and in my country most of pep don't even know what android is so getting help outside of forum's like this is not an option).

Feb 22, 2010I had installed a mobile defense guardian? App the other day, forget if that was the exact name and noticed after that. That I wasn't getting picture messages to show up right away anymore, now it seems like they have to send the same picture 2 or 3 times before it will actually download and I can view it. Wondering if there is some known issue or a fix to get it back to normal and working right again. I'm looking at one now and it just says it's downloading, never leaves that, doesn't show a picture.

Aug 15, 2010In the Messaging app in 2.2 when I'm in a thread it shows a pic of me and a pic of the other person next to every text sent and received. In the 2.1 app it simply showed my name and the other persons name; no pic of us next to every text. Is there anyway to disable showing the pics in the 2.2 app? Really don't see the need to have a pic next to each text.

I have linked all my contacts with their facebook accounts but it still shows the default white picture. Feb 7, 2010I use the backgrounds app, and it lets me save backgrounds to my SD card. I go into Astro/ sdcard/ backgrounds and then click on the picture. It gives me 2 options to open it. "ASTRO Image Viewer" and "View picture". For me to use it as a background I have to pull it up in "View picture", BUT....no matter how many times I try and pull it up that way, it shows me the first picture in my camera album. If I click "ASTRO Image Viewer", I can always see the picture I selected, but under menu, I only have the option to "share" and nothing else. Can you tell me why the selected picture won't show up in "View picture"?

One of the deciding features (pretty much the only reason I use my iPad) is for reading PDFs of academic journals/publications. In iOS land, I've been using an app called Noterize to highlight/mark-up/circle these documents and export my annotated version to Google docs or Dropbox. Is anyone using a similar PDF-editing app with similar features? I'd hate to have to be an Apple user!

Sep 17, 2010I create Android applications for my job. Eclipse is open all day and I am frequently editing XML files for layouts, etc. I find that creating/editing these XML files pushes up the memory use of Eclipse. Eclipse never seems to release any of the memory and eventually Eclipse tells me that there has been some sort of workbench out of memory error and I have to exit. It will not let me save or do much of anything after this point.
Is there a workaround for this? I don't want to have to exit Eclipse and start it up because of this memory issue. Why won't Eclipse free up its memory use? It just keeps going up. I am still having issues with running out of memory, the eclipse.ini suggestions did not fix it.

Sep 2, 2010I have a listview from an SQLDatabase using custom CursorAdaptor. I would like to go back to the activity that I used to create the items when I click on them in the listview. So that I can edit the entries. But nothing happen when I implement the OnItemClick method and the getItemId() on the CursorAdapter even though am not sure I am correct there. Here is my Code:

However, this means waiting for the emulator to bootup (and then unlocking the emulator's screen) each time you want to test changes to your program. Is there any way around this delay?
Android :: How To Editing Description / Screenshots On A Published App?
Oct 5, 2010I have published a free app on the android market. I want to edit the description and add a couple of screen shots. While the "Upload Aplication" screen on http://market.android.com/publish lets me make these changes & saves them too, they don't show up in the description of the app when I go the android market. Do I have to unpublish & republish the app (in which case I might run into version issues)? Or else, how do I make these changes to description appear on the android market?

Nov 4, 2010I have created a WebView layout, which is used to access a specific website, however it would be useful to edit or create a custom "Web page not available" resource when a handset doesn't have a network connection or the page times out. I know it's possible because if you open the app "Wikidroid" while a handset is in Airplane mode you receive "Article not available" error page instead of the standard Android "Web page not available" error page.
