Android :: Video Editing Application?
Nov 17, 2009
I know the iPhone has one built in but has anyone found anything for the Droid? I wanted to upload some videos but I'd first need to trim off the first two seconds. I've searched around here on the forums but sadly I couldn't find anything.

I've been out of the game for a while when it comes to making videos and editing them. I stopped fooling around with the hobby about eight years ago because it was such a hassle at the time, Sony handycam, the micro tapes, play the movie to put it on the computer, then edit it and put it in what was the thing then "mpeg4".
Will I bought myself a droid x two years ago and was gonna take up the hobby then but technology has come so far since eight years ago and the thought just scares me. Now I have a razr maxx, and i wanna start making videos, what kind of software would you suggest, what formats of videos are there now?
I feel that a cell phone would make the quality videos I'm interested in, it much better than my old Sony handycam

I just need to know if it is possible at all to edit video taken with our Incredible (ex. shorten, decrease size, split into separate videos, etc.). I've searched the Market and can't find any app to edit videos. Because the resolution is so large, it is difficult and in some cases impossible to send a video via SMS, MMS or email because of its size. The smallest video setting is 1MB, which at the lowest resolution, is only 9 seconds long. That's horrible. I want to be able to record a regular video and edit it. Please help if anyone knows whether or not this is possible. By the way, despite the issues everyone else may have, I luv this phone...had it since day 2 of pre-order launch and never thought twice about returning it.

I'm running my HTC Legend with the stock "Camcorder" app and the most I can record with is 480p. Since the iPhone 4 has the same MP (5) and can shoot HD, why can't the Legend. Is there an app for such a thing? Any way without rooting, since I still want to keep my warranty till it expires.

I've pretty much fed up with the stock Youtube app on my Moto Droid, and was wondering if there are any alternate apps or fixes out there. Between it flipping a nut if I try to seek further into the video and the fact that it won't allow me to buffer the video at all is what tweaks me the most. Whats the point of trying to watch anything over 3G if I'm only gunna get 3 seconds of video followed by 3 seconds of buffering through the whole thing?

this may have been asked and simply not answered but I will try anyway: Is there an architecture for delivering live video for the android platform? Apple has adopted the Segmented TS/M3U8 playlist approach and have submitted to the IETF. Microsoft seems to be adopting the Fragmented MP4 standard (ISO/IEC 14492-12 -... ) for the smooth streaming platform. What does Android plan on implementing? How would one develop an application today?

Does anyone know of a video loop recording app that would work so as to allow "retrospective " recording - i.e. it records full time but discards after say five minutes, so that by -say -pressing a button, the previous five minutes recording could be retained , reviewed and possibly saved? I know it could be done by recording to a file for a fixed period and then discarding that file and starting a new one, but then it would be random as to the length of the recording that was available on the current file - depending on when the button was pressed. What I need is something that writes data to a fixed length file and pushes the earliest written data off the end - or some other process that simulates that.

I just got a new g1 today and was reinstalling my apps. I noticed the video recorder app is no longer on the market. I was able to find the voice client (sound for the video) but not the actual video recorder. Does anyone know why it was pulled by google or does anyone know the dev's site/or have it where I can just download it?

I wanted to write an application that makes use of the camera taking extremely slow frame-rate video and uploading it. Right now I am reading over this:
http://itp.nyu.edu/~sve204/mobilemedia_spring10/androidCamera101.pdf
My question was in regards to the camera's use. The above article makes use of a canvas to preview the image, if one didn't want to preview the image before taking it could that be done? Is it necessary to use a preview of the camera image or can I just call takepicture to take the picture and catch the resulting callback to save it to a file?

I am facing in Android display system(Video Rendering using Surface Flinger Native APIs).
As for my understanding, Android display system relies on Surfaceflinger library( a system wide screen composer). Surfaceflinger runs as a service along with Mediaserver service, Camera service, Audioflinger and these services interact with each other through Binder APIs at native level. If any user application wants to access SurfaceFlinger native APIs, it requires Surfaceflinger Access permissions.
My requirement is that I want to create a SurfaceView at the JAVA level (Android Application level) and render video data to that Surface, means, pass video data to the Surface flinger library by invoking native Surface Flinger APIs. But, because of Permission Problems, I am not able to invoke Native Surface Flinger APIs from Application Layer.
Is there any ways to invoke Surface Flinger Native APIs from Application Level ?

I've been debating whether or not to return this iPad for an Android tablet. One of the deciding features (pretty much the only reason I use my iPad) is for reading PDFs of academic journals/publications. In iOS land, I've been using an app called Noterize to highlight/mark-up/circle these documents and export my annotated version to Google docs or Dropbox. Is anyone using a similar PDF-editing app with similar features? I'd hate to have to be an Apple user!

I use PhotoShop mobile usually whenever I need to edit photos. however, a friend with the iPhone showed me this app yesterday that you can delete all colors from photos and add colors to the parts of the picture you want. If that makes sense and you know of an app like that let me know.

I create Android applications for my job. Eclipse is open all day and I am frequently editing XML files for layouts, etc. I find that creating/editing these XML files pushes up the memory use of Eclipse. Eclipse never seems to release any of the memory and eventually Eclipse tells me that there has been some sort of workbench out of memory error and I have to exit. It will not let me save or do much of anything after this point.
Is there a workaround for this? I don't want to have to exit Eclipse and start it up because of this memory issue. Why won't Eclipse free up its memory use? It just keeps going up. I am still having issues with running out of memory, the eclipse.ini suggestions did not fix it.
