Anyone know of an app that will quiet ONLY my email notifications at night automatically? I still want to get phone calls and SMS messages and for my alarms to ring. I just want my emails to be silent until morning. I can't find anything like this.One that comes with a widget would be even better.

View 9 Replies View RelatedHTC Hero by Sprint, running 2.1.6...I notice that I get my gmail updates almost instantaniously during the day, but at night I will get one and if I don't touch the phone, I won't get another until I start using the phone again.Is this some sort of "sleep" feature where you will not recieve gmail notifications while you are not using the phone (over night), or is it just my imagination?? I have noticed this numerous times over the past couple months, although I have not really been putting this theory to a controled test.
View 1 Replies View RelatedWhat's your work around for e-mail notifications in the middle of the night. I really don't want to change setting every night just to set them back each morning. (the phone sits in the docking station on the nightstand). I guess I could just silent phone with the volume shortcut on the side of the phone, however if I receive a call or text in the middle of the night 99% of the time it is truly important. As stupid as it is, I have the crank yankers "I got mail" notification for my e-mail accounts for work and home. My wife says that if it goes off one more time in the night (lately about 3-4 times a night, & at all hours) she is going to smash my phone. Half the time it doesn't wake me up, and if it does, I can fall back asleep no problem. But for the sake of keeping wifey happy, I have to come up with a solution.

I only get my email to show up on my inbox on my phone ONLY when i open email. I currently have it set to to check email every 5 minutes but this is obviously not happening. and i dont get a blinking LED when i get a SMS, Text message.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI've written an activity that call a number that automatically send a sms with some informations. So I've created a BroadcastReceiver that handle SMS received from a specified originating address. This works fine... but i want to :
1. Disable notifications sound when I'm waiting for receiving this sms (just 1 or 2 seconds)
2. Disable notifications of SMS default app and ChompSMS that handle incoming SMS.
So i really like the clock function and the ability to use it as an alarm clock next to my bed. I set it in the mode with the quarter moon and star. What m worried about is the effect on my LCD screen. It seems to be running all night but in a dimmer mode. Is it ok to use the feature every night? Will i end up ruining my LCD a lot faster?

All of a sudden, when I do the same thing, it opens up the G mail In box and I have to click the email itself to open it. Am I delusional and this is how it's always been?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI just pulled the battery to do a reset last night after a lockup and today I'm getting notifications everytime I get a new email. it never used to do this and i figured it was just cause I didn't use the gmail. now I'm thinking that it just might be one of the background tasks that I was always killing. I recently switched to home++ and I didn't use the built in task killer all day. so I guess my question is, does anyone know which background task would control this so I don't kill it? also, is there a place to go in the settings to change the led color for email alerts?

More specifically, opening menus is not as smooth and switching screens is a little choppy. Also... I do not get notifications on my sms and email icons when i have a new message or a email. What I would like to find us an app that will let me toggle notifications on and off by time and day automatically.
It should be able to toggle email, by account, and sms.
Scenario: I have 4 email accounts. I want to be able to set when my email account checks email and notifies me. I want to shut off awork email after work hours and have it turn back on at a specific time in the morning.
I want to turn off my other emails and sms notifications at bedtime and turn back on in the morning.
But I still want the phone to be able to ring and the alarm to work throughout the night in case of emergency calls and so I can get up in the morning.
It would be preferable that the email and sms be able to be turned completely off so there wouldn't be anything showing up in notification bar until it turned back on in the morning instead of merely turning off the sound for those.
But at this point I would love just to be able to toggle sound notification by email account and sms.
It should be customizable by day of week as well. Ie. I could leave work email off during weekend but have others working. I also think students would like to be able to customize for MWF and TT settings.
I am looking for a way to send an email from a DEFINED email to the user's email. I will also have a defined subject and a defined email - body. My situation is that when the user forgets his password, he needs to enter in his email into the text box and then the application will automatically send an email to his mailbox. Is there any way to do this without the user getting his mail client popping up?

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy Gmail works perfectly (of course it does) but my Email program is another story. I can get it to sync fine with my Cox e-mail after I manually set it up, but I will not automatically retrieve e-mails from the server regardless of what I set the check interval to. I purposely sent myself a test email from another source and the phone never receives it unless I physically go into the email program and then it connects to the server and downloads the message. Is anyone else experiencing this? Am I doing something wrong? Right now I have the phone set to 5 min check intervals and it still doesn't automatically indicate I have new mail even though I know there is two brand new e-mails sitting there waiting for me.

Second, I was getting email notifications very quickly untill 2 days ago when they all stopped, and as of yesterday I could at least view new emails though I was not getting a notification, but now I'm not getting the new emails or the notification... what happened?
I use Gmail and use the Gmail app as my mail app. Gmail notifies me when I have new mail. My Droid also came with the Email app, which is also hooked into my gmail account. By default, it also checks for new messages and notifies me about them. Naturally, I don't want the double-notifications, and the Email app is also crap at marking emails off as read if I've read them in Gmail. So I went into the Email app settings and unchecked "Send notification." That worked great. BUT... it keeps turning itself back on. If I ever restart my phone, it comes back again with the same stupid notifications. I think sometime it resets itself if it restarts itself after I kill it. how to turn off notifications PERMANENTLY?

The email I receive through gmail works fine with emails arriving automatically and the notification settings working. The problem is with the regular email program that comes with the phone and my Yahoo account. Even though I believe I have it set up to automatically check email and to receive notification when it arrives, I only get new email when I manually open the app.

For example, I may want the phone on vibrate but have any email/SMS with the string "CRITICAL" (case sensitive) in the subject use a loud alert sound and repeat every 2 min until I acknowledge or read the email. The closest thing I could find was having handcent do a custom notification on the SMS sender's number, but it lacks the repeat options. Anyone know of an app that can do this?

I am looking for an app for my HTC Incredible that I could do basically the same thing. I would like to set the phone up so when I'm sleeping the notifications for SMS/MMS and EMAIL messages are muted, but the ringer for the phone is still active. Does anyone know of such an app or setting to do this?

View 3 Replies View RelatedWhen I first got my new DROID a few weeks ago, new email messages arrived and I was notified by a ringtone, and a blinking green light in the upper right corner. Now that has stopped completely. If I want to check for new email messages I have to manually start the email app and manually select refresh for the app to go out and look for new messages (via Yahoo pop mail). What happened? Is there a simple setting somewhere that got switched?
