I've written an activity that call a number that automatically send a sms with some informations. So I've created a BroadcastReceiver that handle SMS received from a specified originating address. This works fine... but i want to :
1. Disable notifications sound when I'm waiting for receiving this sms (just 1 or 2 seconds)
2. Disable notifications of SMS default app and ChompSMS that handle incoming SMS.

Anyone know of an app that will quiet ONLY my email notifications at night automatically? I still want to get phone calls and SMS messages and for my alarms to ring. I just want my emails to be silent until morning. I can't find anything like this.One that comes with a widget would be even better.

My situation is that when the user forgets his password, he needs to enter in his email into the text box and then the application will automatically send an email to his mailbox. Is there any way to do this without the user getting his mail client popping up?
View 22 Replies View RelatedI love Handcent but this inability to resend automatically is killing me. I don't have good signal at home (basement flat), so I often send a message and then just wait for the signal to drift in, so it sends. My old blackberry or Nokia had no problems with this. Handcent doesn't handle it well. it either gets stuck with the little whirling whindmill thing and never sends, or it comes up with the red X and the process stalls. I actually prefer the red X, as at least that enables a quick "retry". but it seems to be totally random whether it gets stuck or fails to send. Why oh why is such a simple feature not bug-free in an app like Handcent that is so popular and has been around for some time now?

The reason for this app is because I am a vanpool driver and it would be great if I could notify my riders when I am getting close to their house so that they are waiting for me when I pull up. What I would like to find us an app that will let me toggle notifications on and off by time and day automatically.
It should be able to toggle email, by account, and sms.
Scenario: I have 4 email accounts. I want to be able to set when my email account checks email and notifies me. I want to shut off awork email after work hours and have it turn back on at a specific time in the morning.
I want to turn off my other emails and sms notifications at bedtime and turn back on in the morning.
But I still want the phone to be able to ring and the alarm to work throughout the night in case of emergency calls and so I can get up in the morning.
It would be preferable that the email and sms be able to be turned completely off so there wouldn't be anything showing up in notification bar until it turned back on in the morning instead of merely turning off the sound for those.
But at this point I would love just to be able to toggle sound notification by email account and sms.
It should be customizable by day of week as well. Ie. I could leave work email off during weekend but have others working. I also think students would like to be able to customize for MWF and TT settings.
I can get this phone to update email automatically and notify when i receive a new email...how do i do this?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI frequently email pictures from my phone. My iphone used to allow me to select a few pictures and send them. It would automatically resize so that recipients didn't get huge files.
I have not to date found a way to do this on android. I can go into quick pik or other programs and resize a picture manually... then select several and email.. but this is cumbersome and results in duplicates of my pictures in my gallery. I can't easily tell which is the big picture file and which is the small.
Is there a program out there that will automatically resize and send multiple pictures? This could be a separate program that sends to gmail or an email program itself.
how I would come about doing this. Would it be possible to have a led light hooked up to a bluetooth adapter and then connected to the phone so whenever you get a message notification on your phone then the led light would light up a certain color? We could have a light box like this with multiple colored leds' in it http[url].... but instead of twitter it'd be specific color coded notifications! Maybe green for messages, blue for gmail, and so on so on! The light box in the link also has a wifly module in it so maybe we could switch it out with a bluetooth module instead?

Because of this I miss SMS's and missed call notifications sometimes for hours. I have been looking for an app that allows me to push some, if not all, notifications raised by my phone to my desktop.
I tried growl but that requires a local web server which I cannot obviously run at work. I also do not have access to my work network from my phone because wifi is restricted. So I need a solution that sends these notifications over the web.
Is there an app or a service that can push notifications from android to my desktop?
I just bought the Cliq for my wife, and it seems as though MotoBLUR doesn't send facebook notifications such as image tagging and whatnot to the phone. She only gets status updates on the main screen. Short of signing up for facebook SMS messages on their site, is there a way to get MotoBLUR to give notifications for everything in facebook? My BlackBerry(s) have always done this with the facebook application, and it's a nice feature.

I have had my Epic 4g for two days now and I am having the some notification and email problems. I don't get notifications when new email is available. I only get my email to show up on my inbox on my phone ONLY when i open email. I currently have it set to to check email every 5 minutes but this is obviously not happening. and i dont get a blinking LED when i get a SMS, Text message.
View 6 Replies View RelatedUpdate:I got a app called "GMail Label Notifier"...it serves the same purpose and is really much more flexible since you can assign unique alerts to each trigger You just need to setup filters in Gmail to apply a label. I have been using it a week or so now and it seems to work great.
I have moved from a BB Tour to the HTC Incredible and really like the Android OS.
A few things I really rely on though I can't seem to replicate on Android. The most important is the "Level 1" or high importance message tagging. With BIS I could setup a filter so that any emails with a specific word or words in the subject line or from a specific email address caused a different alert on the BB when received.
Also, I can't find many options for different notifications like a specific one for emails, another for SMS, another for voice mails, etc.
How do you send a text message using the keyboard instead of tapping send on-screen?
