I'm a iPhone user switching over to the Incredible. Does the software allow instant push email notification with yahoo mail? I know it does for Gmail. I have Yahoo Plus ~ so that may help.Also, within the Mail application how many accounts can you have?

I have a Galaxy Note 2. I use the Yahoo Email app and want to select a cool ringtone for my email sounds but can't because the app only recognizes only the installed system sounds.
So who knows to get this app to play whatever ringtone you want?
I have my yahoo mail account set up to my hero I never get my mail pushed to the phone I have set it to 5 minute push 15 minute push etc etc .. but works fine if I manually check it, all my mail is there. I alsohave my yahoo account set as default. When I set it up I assume it was done properly hence the reason I can receive the mail if I refresh it myself ...are there any other settings that I may be missing?

It gives me PUSH mail for my hotmail and keeps all my folders in sync and you don't need hotmail Exchange ActiveSync for it to push!
If like me you require better than pop3 then why don't you give it a try and see what you think.

It accepted hotmail and google mail though. Anyone managed to get yahoo mail into Email application? Please tell me how you did.
View 29 Replies View RelatedI am trying to figure out whats going on. I have 2 DI for myself and girlfriend. I have my email (gmail and yahoo) setup through the HTC Mail Client and they work fine. I setup my other phone the same way and it worked fine, but once the yahoo account completed the process of downloading the inbox, I got an Authentication Error stating the login was incorrect. The login is not wrong and works fine to login via the standard web page. I tried to delete the Yahoo Account on the HTC, but when I went to setup again I had the same issue. Not sure how or why this could be happening. Any advice is appreciated. Also verified all the yahoo email settings on my working device and they are all the same on the other device with the issue.

Mail app that was recently put in the Market, I have been using the stock mail app to check my Yahoo! mail.Last night when I checked my Yahoo! Mail through the stock mail app, I was getting weird error messages. Most of the time it would go ahead and put me in my Yahoo! inbox but there would also be a message saying "login failed." I would click OK and then go about my business because e-mails were coming through. I figured it would sort itself out at some point.This morning, it was still doing it and it was annoying, so I re-booted the phone. Same problem. So I decided to delete the account and re-install it (a few weeks ago I had some issues with my Exchange mail account and deleting then re-installing fixed them.)Now, when I try to re-install the account it says "Authentication failed. Please verify your username/password." I have tried it over and over. I know I am using the right username and password - I just used them on my desktop PC to get into the account. And my Yahoo! Mail app still works on the phone.Anyone have any ideas what has happened and/or how I can fix this? I really want to continue to be able to check my Yahoo! mail on my phone without having to use the Yahoo! app.
View 8 Replies View RelatedJust set my wife up with the new yahoo mail app that came out last week. Very nice that it pushes now. I can't, however, get it to make any notification sounds. She has Zedge for downloading ringtones and notification sounds and her general notification sound is set as a sound from Zedge at this time. Will yahoo only use stock sounds so it doesn't play anything? I do have the box checked to use notification sounds and vibrate in the setting.

What is important to me is my email.. I want to be able to sync my yahoo account with yahoo mail and the mail on the phone so if i send an email on my phone it will appear in the sent folder on my yahoo mail on the computer and vice versa if you follow... With Android being google will i be able to do this from the phones email client like the iphone does...

i've changed three android tablets so far, rooted my phone, installed and tweaked dozen of roms on it,
on both my tablet and phone i have facebook and gmail applications. they are basically the same .apks since i have a backup of them on a sd card and if i format one device, i often use restire the apps from the sd card.
and you know how you get an instant notification on your phone if you receive a fb message or an e-mail? that doesn't happen on my tablet. it seems that a couple of minutes after i turn off the display on my tablet, it drops the wifi connection (a power save thing i suppose).
is there any way to ensure a constant wifi connection on my tablet so that i receive email/fb notifications in real time and just not after i turn the display on?
I use the Yahoo mail android app (as well as gmail). When I create an email in the app and "click" in the "to" field and type a letter I get a whole raft of email address suggestions that are not in the contacts. I've looked in my phone contacts and they aren't there. I've looked at Yahoo mail settings and see nothing there. I've gone to the desktop Yahoo mail an tried looking in contacts there and they don't show up. Many of these are addresses of people that I recognize and have probably either sent or received an email from them but certainly never saved them as a contact. I tried long pressing on the suggested address and it highlights it but no options are given. It doesn't happen in my gmail. I've gone to URL...contacts and they don't show up there. I know I should just switch to gmail only but this is an old address that I want to keep active. I have a Moto X with Kitkat. This has followed me from phone to phone.

I downloaded yahoo mail. It was working fine until this morning. When i tried to login it gave me an error message SSL certificate-check date and time error
Also on the stock email app, does have the ability to add more than one account? I never been in the stock app because it won't let me log in. I would love to continue using yahoo mail (if it ever starts working again) but I only have about 25mb left of memory. And the reason I prefer to use that app instead of the stock email is because it allows to add more than one account.
If anybody knows I was wondering if there is a way to setup a yahoo mail account for free on the droid eris. From what I've heard it costs extra to sync my eris with my yahoo account.

I remember getting this with handcent and default text program but easily shut that off. Can't seem to figure it out with mail. Any ideas how to disable the default mail notifications without deleting the account in the default mail app?

I am coming from a Pre, which had a very nice notification system. The new email notification would show the sender, subject, and number of new emails. You could then click to either go to the mailbox, or directly to the latest new email shown at your discretion.
I have set up both GMail through the GMail app, and an Exchange server through the Mail app, but the only notification I get is "New email" without specifics. Also, clicking won't bring me directly to the new email, but to the Inbox.
My husband and i just got Droid X's. We have a business with a website and associated webmail. Our email address is an IMAP account created by our website developer. After trying to configure the embedded mail program, we installed K9 based on a lot of good reviews on this site. We've got it working, the only issue is we can't seem to get it to automatically notify us when a new email comes in as the phone does with Gmail. The notification doesn't come in at all - you have to go into K9 and "Get Mail". We have it set to sync all folders.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm setting up my new desire, and gmail works just fine, but the push email or email notification perhaps rather, is acting kind of irrational.
First when I set it up it would go off at about the same time as my email checker on my computer using imap idle. On the second email arriving though there is no more notification from the desire phone, this may be a feature although a weird one. Now I go into the inbox on the desire and delete the 2 emails in question and exit. The next time an email arrives the phone will react but not nearly as fast, it can be minutes or even more.
I remembered from my G1 days a way to sync the E-Mail app up to Yahoo's free (not PoP3) servers so I gave it try on my new BH2 and it works just fine:Here are the steps:
1. Enter Yahoo ID and Password (hint, just use your "username", not the whole joeblow@yahoo.com
2. Select Manual Setup
3. Setup IMAP
4. Incoming server is imap.mail.yahoo.com
5. Port is 143
6. Security Type is "TLS (if available)"
7. Leave IMAP path prefix blank
8. Hit next
9. SMTP Server is smtp.mobile.mail.yahoo.com
10. Port is 25
11. Security is again TLS (if available)
12. Check Require sign-in
13. Verify username and password
14. enjoy
To Sync up, you CANNOT be on WiFi (dunno why, maybe Yahoo has a deal with T-Mobile?).One other note: if after rechecking all your settings and it still says "invalid username/password" try going onto your Yahoo Account and change your "Location" to ASIA ! Weird I know, but for some reason, some people can't get this to work with US-English as their Yahoo Locale (not talking about your phone's settings here, all on Yahoo site end!).
So, Yahoo released its own mail and messenger apps today. I tried it out for about 5 minutes. It seems like a slimmer version of their Yahoo Go! that they used to have for Blackberry. So far, not impressed. But at least its a step in the right direction for them. They should just allow mail setup using IMAP or convert to exchange servers. That way Yahoo folks can have their calendars and contacts all synced up.

I have a gmail account which I never use, and my main Yahoo account. I set up the mail icon on the homescreen to take me to Yahoo mail, and it synchs to that account fine. However, when I try to compose an email, the only contacts it has are the 4 from my gmail account. When I send the email, though, it does come from my @yahoo.com address. Is there any way to get it to give me my contacts from Yahoo? I saw that there is a Yahoo app, but the reveiws looked pretty bad so I was hoping to just use the standard mail feature.

View 7 Replies View RelatedSo I have adjusted the Outgoing server settings from the standard Incredible settings for Yahoo IMAP to ones that are posted for the Motorola Droid, which is the same as (i believe) K-9 and my sent messages do not make it to Yahoo mail.Neither SMTP server setting within HTC mail syncs my sent mail. I am only looking for 1-way (device to server) sync. I don't expect 2-way sync.Both K-9 Mail and ROID mail are able to sync sent messages.

View 7 Replies View Relatedhow to set up Gmail through an exchange server so that you can get push email in the HTC Mail app. I obviously can't be 100% sure this works, but the folks over at XDA seem to think this is the solution for the Desire. The instructions are for a Windows Mobile Device, but all of the information you need to fill in inside the HTC Mail app should be available at the link.
