Just got the incredible and I LOVE it.However after importing contacts from gmail, there's a lot of junk emails that I'd like to delete, but there's so many that going through one by one and deleting is pretty tedious. Is there a way to delete multiple ones at the same time? Also, when you make a new folder, is there a way to rename that folder?? I can't seen to figure out how to do it.

I have configured the account on my mobile to not delete the e-mails on the mailbox of my provider because this is done when I download the e-mails later on my notebook with Outlook.I get about 200-300 emails daily. Except that I can't figure out how to do a couple of things. 1. Is there a way to select and delete multiple emails on the phone and 2. How do I get rid of all my spam mail that comes in on the laptop (and gets filtered out there). Do I have to set up some kind of email push program so that the email comes in from my computer (already filtered) instead of from the server? You can see my learning curve is steep.........

I've been syncing my Captivate using Kies for while, but after a Kies software upgrade I had to reload the drivers (using Kies) as the Captivate was not connecting. After the driver reload I was able to sync my contacts, but I ended up with duplicates of all my contacts under the "Unassigned" group. I can not delete these duplicates under this group because they're linked to the duplicate contacts that I had already assigned to specific groups. If I delete any contact in the "Unassigned" group it also deletes the contact I want to keep under its respective group. I have over 1,500 contacts so unlinking one by one is very time consuming and not practical.

This is strange, as they all say phone contacts (thus aren't sim or google contacts or anything), but on view settings, it says I have 300 or so contacts which is how many I have if they were NOT duplicated. I have tried restarting my phone. For some reason, it shows fine then when it loads fully, the duplicates are back. I also noticed that only contacts synced with Facebook seemed to be duplicated, though not all synced are duplicated. I have attempted deleting one of two of a same contact, but this resulted in the other entry being deleted too.

They were facebook sync'd, and after adding one of these girls back, I can't sync her back with her facebook profile (it's not there o_O). View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a weird problem. Some of my ex-wife's friends are still listed in my phone list. I have deleted them from "People" (there is no contacts app on my Droid Eris.) I have deleted them from my Gmail account. And I have unfriended them on Facebook. My sympathetic daughter showed me that I could simply hold the contact listing until it opened to edit. Then press menu and then choose delete. And that works just fine--for any contact except those who were friends with the Ex!! Yeah really funny to me too! Since I don't have the most finesse with the touch screen (I'm an old-school full computer keyboard guy) sometimes it is easy to accidentally dial one of these people of whom I have zero desire to talk to. I know computers and know there is an answer somewhere. Glad if one of you could help me find this answer.

1 - how do I change the alert notification for my calendar? Originally it was just the standard alert. When I view the settings there was the option to use the standard droid alert of use a ringtone. So, playing around I cheeked use a ring tone. It brought me to a directory(?) or folder with 4 songs that I had downloaded using railio(sp) ringtones. Now that's the only place I can get to for ALL alerts and ringtones. Even for my contacts it goes to the 4 songs I downloaded from railio ringtones and I can't navigate anywhere else.
I have gone into manage applications and uninstalled the ringtone program, but still can't get out of that spot for my alerts and ringtones. It's driving me crazy!
2 - My contacts have multiple entries for one person.
How can I delete the multiple entries for a contact? When I edit the contact information for a person I see 3 - 5 duplicate entries for one contact. When I first got my droid I synced with 2 google accounts - I didn't know what I was doing --- so, the information under one contact is repeated many times.
This is how I setup my cursor currently. On a side note, I know android.provider.contacts.phones is deprecated and I should be using ContactsContract but I need to build my app with SDK 1.5, which doesn't have ContactsContract. Code...

In SDK 1.6 and earlier I use android.provider.Contacts to query the contacts DB, but this does not work in 2.0 Instead, for 2.0 I use android.provider.ContactsContract. This presents a problem: when I have code for ContactsContract, my app will not build for 1.6 and earlier. Do I need to have two separate versions of my app (one for <= 1.6 and one for 2.0 and later) or is there a way to avoid doing this?
