Motorola Droid :: Change Alert Notification For Calendar - Delete Multiple Entries For Contact

I have 2 questions though.
1 - how do I change the alert notification for my calendar? Originally it was just the standard alert. When I view the settings there was the option to use the standard droid alert of use a ringtone. So, playing around I cheeked use a ring tone. It brought me to a directory(?) or folder with 4 songs that I had downloaded using railio(sp) ringtones. Now that's the only place I can get to for ALL alerts and ringtones. Even for my contacts it goes to the 4 songs I downloaded from railio ringtones and I can't navigate anywhere else.
I have gone into manage applications and uninstalled the ringtone program, but still can't get out of that spot for my alerts and ringtones. It's driving me crazy!
2 - My contacts have multiple entries for one person.
How can I delete the multiple entries for a contact? When I edit the contact information for a person I see 3 - 5 duplicate entries for one contact. When I first got my droid I synced with 2 google accounts - I didn't know what I was doing --- so, the information under one contact is repeated many times.

What's the quick and easy way to clear out my Droid's Gmail calendar? I sync two/from Outlook and the cloud, and need to clear off my Droid and Gmail to get things back in sync after some changes I've made. The last time I wanted to do something like this, I emptied (deleted) my Gmail calendar on the web, but for some reason the phone calendar didn't clear out, and I ended up doing a reset to start over. I'm sure there's an easier way, like removing the account from the phone, but it's the primary account and I don't want to delete my contacts from the phone or cloud.

THE PROBLEM: was going through my phonebook and for a few contacts, i would have A LOT of duplicates. By a lot I mean nearly 100 if not more of 1 person, but the contact would be something about facebook related. this was for about 15-20 people that had 100+ entries.HOW I FIXED THIS:people > Menu > View Check or uncheck any of the want or dont want. after you're done, click done and check you're phonebook again to see if it worked

HTC Desire When I tap the 'To' box or the person icon there are multiple entries for each contact. The second person in my contact list appears at least 100 times, others are in there 6, 8 10+ times.Orange Help sent me a text. I deleted it. Took battery out etc. And guess what? No help at all. In the People folder the entries are there in their singular form. Anyone any ideas for resolving this? BTW - the contact only receives one message!!

When i scroll through my contact list, with the google and facebook integration:
I sometimes have multiple entries for 1 person.
Is there a way to merge multiple entries into 1 contact?
I know within Gmail (contact) you can select multiple, then click on "Merge these _ contacts..", is there a way to do this on the phone?

In my gmail account in my browser (desktop computer), I go to contacts and I see one entry for myself. It has all the info I want in it (I just added my address).When I go to my droid and find myself in the contact list, I see several sections that begin with "from blah@gmail.com" where it's my email address.Why isn't it only one big section instead of looking like it found my contact info multiple times in my gmail account requiring multiple sub-sections? How come I don't see my address in any of these sub-sections?

If I clear the data in the "Contacts Storage" tab of "Manage Applications" will this only delete the data stored on the phone itself or will it also delete the contact on the exchange server as well? I have some contacts that are duplicates because they were put in the phone before I was able to get the exchange sync set up resulting in an entry for exchange and an entry for phone when in the "People" area.

Has anyone else noticed a problem with Corporate Calendar showing duplicate meeting entries? Everything was fine until my corporate password expired. After I reset my corporate password, changed the Droids corporate mail/calendar password to match and now all of my calendar entries have been duplicated.

I'm a new Droid Eris user and have been using Google Calendar for some time.I have a single calendar set up which is syncing with the Eris.I can successfully add/edit/delete entries from both applications and have them show up just fine on the other side.I have a couple of recurring entries that I've since deleted in Google Calendar but are still showing up on my Eris.The unique thing about both of these entries is that they were meeting requests sent to my Gmail address and accepted from there.They have since been cancelled from the original sender and are now removed from my Google Calendar.My calendar entries are labeled as dark blue, and these two show as light blue.I cannot select them on the Eris to edit or delete them.

I switched to a Droid X from a BlackBerry. On the BlackBerry, not only could you set phone and SMS custom alerts and ringtones (in addition to custom ring profiles for certain contacts), you could also set email alerts.
So for example, if my husband emailed me, it would ring a custom alert for his email, not just for an email to that particular account. That meant I didn't need to look at my phone every time got an email to see who it was from. (I have a web-based business and I get literally hundreds of emails every day.)
On the BlackBerry, not only were there custom inboxes for each email account, there was a "universal" inbox. There doesn't seem to be a function exactly like that for the Android (I tried adding my Gmail accounts to the one there, but it keeps defaulting me back to each Gmail box).
Is there an app for this?
I have Ringo Pro for my custom sms and call alerts, but an email alert would be a lifesaver. There are a lot of BB converts to Android (and I'm sure more to come) who would gladly pay for an app to handle this. So far, it's the only thing I can see where the Droid X doesn't beat the BB.

Whenever I get a text message Handcent plays a song from my MP3's. Even though I have set it to use a simple notification. The song plays all the way through too, the only way I can silence it is to turn off my ringer volume. But then I have no ringer.

I have a sound clip that I want to use as my sms alert. I have placed it on the sd card under Audio/Notifications and I can play the sound file OK but when i go to the settings of the sms app (Handcent SMS) and choose Notification Setting and then Select Ringtone, it does not display the sound file. I have stored on the card, just the built-in ones, How do I make the app use the stored sound file.

Sometimes when I add a new person to contacts, multiple duplicate entries get created. I've seen 2 to 3 entries for a new contact, and this has happened roughly 3 times since I got my phone a month or so ago.What's up?

When adding new contacts to the droid x, it added it as both a goggle contact and phone contact. (i only have one goggle account setup). I went into contacts -> menu -> more -> settings. I am UNABLE to check/unchecked the "Phone Contacts" (it is always checked). The goggle one i am able to check/unchecked. WHY and HOW can i toggle the phone contact? Also, backup assistant only takes PHONE contacts and not GOOGLE contacts...while g mail contact sync only takes goggle contacts and NOT PHONE contacts. How can one change phone contact to goggle contact? (i have seen posts all over but no answers...and just replies saying "i have the same problem") I am trying NOT to have two (2) different types of contacts. PHONE and GOOGLE. I just want goggle contacts ( or phone contacts. so i can at least use verizon's backup assistant.

I have Google Calendar entries from January through today that show on the Google Website, but only the last 30 days and forward show up on my Eris. Is there a way to show all the calendar entries from January through the present day? I have the 2.1 OTA, have done the Factory Reset, and have synchronized my Google Gmail, Contacts, and Calendar entries.

Is there a way to delete multiple emails at once. I know that you. Can tap and hold on an email and it will bring up a prompt that you can then delete without reading but I would like to be able to delete multiple. At once.

After backing up my contacts to google, and synching with it, I now have two entries in my people app for just about every person. It's not a problem in the people app itself, since I have that set to only show google contacts now. The problem is in handcent, as it still shows both entries (phone and google apparently). I've looked in the settings for handcent, but I haven't run across anything for contact lists. Is there any way I can get it to just show one listing per person?

So I searched the forum but no results to what I want to know. After setting up my new D2, the phone has listed some, actually all, of my contacts multiple times. Each contact is listed 4 times, and it's really annoying having to scroll through 400 people when there really should only be around 100. I haven't been able to find any of the contact management options that my old D1 had, ie filters and stuff. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

I used syncmypix to sync all my contact pictures, but then wanted to delete them since the resolution is small and I want to use full screen caller id. I was wondering how to remove the contact photos. I uninstalled syncmypix and also the cache is gone, but I still have the pictures on my contacts.

I have my Droid set to display my "contact's birthdays" calendar, BUT there are some contacts that I have deleted but their birthdays still show up in my calendar ONLY on my phone. When I look at my google calendar on a computer, the birthdays that belong to those deleted contacts are NOT displayed.

Im trying to find out if you can have multiple notification sounds on the droid. One notification sound for a text message, another for gmail, another for SSM, ect. I got missed call but it doesnt have gmail notifications to change.

I can open gmail and then it goes back to the home screen, when I delete an app I suddenly get a notification that an app has an update (EVERY TIME I delete an app). My weather widget was reading 32 degrees all day yesterday and I noticed that the settings were changed to celcius. What really sucks is I am in the middle of buying a house and I email back and forth with the lender on my phone. Oh and the battery never got any better I can barely get 4hrs out of it. I really like the phone and I hate to return the darn thing.

Have a problem with the DX. Hopefully someone can help. I have deleted several of my text message threads but they show up in my contact history and I cant get rid of them how do I permanently get rid of them . where they show up in contact history is if you delete a text thread and then you go to that persons contact info and swipe left 3 times the text thread is there , how do you delete this from this location ?
