Android :: Any Application For Enabling Touch To Answer Feature?
Jun 29, 2010
I have a very hard time with the slide to answer feature. It frequently takes me 3-5 tries to answer a call. I would much rather be able to touch to answer. I do realize that there's a slim chance of answering calls while in my pocket, but I'd rather that then fight with the phone. Does anyone know of an application for this? I've searched various forums and there are no current threads regarding this.

I want to develop an application which will answer the incoming call after specific time is elapsed. Can anyone help me in generating the (green key)KEYCODE_CALL event programatically. I have tried the same with Intent.ACTION_ANSWER but I am getting the exception that No Activity Found by this.

So, the slide to answer / decline "feature" on my EVO is driving me crazy. I keep the phone in my pocket. When I go to answer it, it will generally auto answer or auto decline a phone a call. Is there a replacement screen for this? I'm rooted, so I could go with a different ROM if needs be? Or a mod or something? I've seen other people talk about it - but with no resolution.

When my phone is on for a while, the screen times out (Screen Time Out - depending upon settings). If I hit the red button on the right, the screen lights up, but I'm not yet at the Scene pages. I have to "Slide down" to get to main scene desktop. If I have my Security set to require a pattern, I will have to enter a pattern. For purposes of this question - assume there is No Security Pattern set. Hence, the slide down goes directly to the Scene desktop.
Screen Timeout
Menu --> Settings --> Sound & Display --> Screen Timeout -->
Various options including:
* 15-seconds
* 30-seconds
* 1 minute
* 2 minutes
* 10 minutes
* Never Timeout
If I set the Screen Timeout to 1 minute, it'll go dim, and when I hit the red button, it will require the Slide Down to get to the Scene Desktop. If I set the Screen Timeout to "Never timeout", it'll never go dim, but this will use more battery power. Once the Screen is Timed Out, it requires the Slide-Down feature to get to the desktop. When receiving an incoming call, the Slide-Down feature is required to answer the call when the phone is Timed Out.
Question
Is it possible to avoid this Slide Down altogether? It seems the only way to do this is to set the Menu --> Settings --> Sound & Display --> Screen Timeout --> Never timeout
I don't want to use "Never timeout" because this will use more battery power.I find it annoying when I receive an incoming call, if the screen is Timed Out, I am required to use the Slide Down menu to answer the call. Problem is, the moment I do this, it answers the call. There is no: Answer / Decline option available unless the screen is in non-Timed Out mode. I want to be able to answer my phone and completely avoid having to deal with this Slide-Down feature when answering incoming calls. I don't even see the picture of the person in my contact until I slide this down. It would be nice if I could avoid the Slide-down altogether. I would like to have it set such that when the phone rings, I can get immediately to the Answer / Decline option.

On the galaxy s. Wondering if there was a way to get the phone to auto answer when and only when the headset that come with the phone are plugged in? i.e. with head set plugged in auto answer
no headset plugged in just act as normal. Hopefully I am just missing something obvious as I can see the option to enable auto answer but this seems to be regardless of weather or not there is a headset plugged in. If this is not possible is there a a way to shortcut the enable and disabling of auto answer rather than having to go through all the menus?

Why do I have a "Slide" to either answer or not answer every Phone Call? The problem is that it only started doing this when I just turned the phone off and back on. I have had the phone since release and it has never done this before. Does anyone have any idea how to disable this slide to answer or reject feature. I don't want it.

I have used PreferenceActivity to have preference in my android application. I want one preference say "pref 2" to be enabled when other preference say "pref 1" is not checked and "pref 2" to be disabled when "pref 1" is checked. i.e. exactly opposite of the android: dependency attribute. How can I do that?

Seems to me that Lock 2.0 is the best Screen Lock I've found. Only Issue is, even with the security code enabled, all one has to do is power on/off the phone and your in with no need for the code. What I am looking for is a locking app that doesn't get disabled when powering the phone off/on. Looking for something secure much like every BB has where no matter what you do, to proceed into the phone you need to type in the Lock Code.

Was playing with the touch to take feature on my DI, when suddenly the camera started displaying flashing red and blue screen. Not sure what happened there. Battery out resets did not fix it. I did a complete data reset and it returned to normal. Anyone else experience this?

I need to add a shake feature that will refresh my Anroid application.All I find of documentation involves implementing the SensorListener, but Eclipse tells me it's deprecated and suggest SensorEventListener. Anybody that has a nice guide to how I go about creating this "shake controller"?

I'd like to receive a TouchEvent in my Android application any time the screen is touched. Even if my application is not in focus.Is there an general even listener or intent filter I can write to achieve this? The goal is to write system wide gesture engine. So for example, if the user swiped up and then down, a certain application would be launched regardless of where the user is.

I have a small test app on Android that is meant to test tracking multitouch input, but I am only ever getting two touches at the same time on my Evo. Does anyone know if this is a limitation to Android or the hardware? By the way, here's my test class so you can try it out yourself.
import java.util.HashMap; import android.content.Context;
import android.graphics.Canvas; import android.graphics.Color;
import android.graphics.Paint; import android.graphics.Paint.Style;
import android.view.MotionEvent; import android.view.View;
public class PressureView extends View {
private HashMap<Integer, Spot> mSpots = new HashMap<Integer, Spot>();
private final int[] mColors; private final Paint mPaint;
public PressureView(Context context) { super(context);
mPaint = new Paint(); mPaint.setStyle(Style.FILL);
mColors = new int[]{Color.RED, Color.GREEN, Color.BLUE, Color.YELLOW, Color.MAGENTA};
} @Override protected void onDraw(Canvas canvas) { super.onDraw(canvas);
canvas.drawColor(Color.WHITE); for(int id : mSpots.keySet()) {
Spot spot = mSpots.get(id); mPaint.setColor(spot.Color);
canvas.drawCircle(spot.X, spot.Y, spot.Pressure*500, mPaint);
} } @Override public boolean onTouchEvent(MotionEvent event) {
System.out.println("***" + event.getPointerCount() + " Pointers");
for(int i = 0; i < event.getPointerCount(); i++) { int id = event.getPointerId(i);
Spot spot = null; if(mSpots.containsKey(id)) { spot = mSpots.get(id);
} else { spot = new Spot(); spot.Color = mColors[mSpots.size()]; }
if(event.getAction() == MotionEvent.ACTION_UP) spot.Pressure = 0;
else spot.Pressure = event.getPressure(id);
spot.X = event.getX(id); spot.Y = event.getY(id);
mSpots.put(id, spot); } invalidate(); return true;
} private class Spot { public float X, Y, Pressure; public int Color; } }

When I had a Palm Tungsten C and the TX, whenever something went wrong, I had Resco Backup to the rescue-easy to use and backed up everything!
I recently switched from Windows Mobile 6.1 (Touch Pro2) to the EVO. With Winmo i had Sprite Backup. Since with Winmo- I loved to tweaked my phone, I never had to worry if I ever pushed it to max- which I did- to crash it. No worries, I just boot up a saved backup file on my SD card and everything came back to the way it was when I backed it up. It was bulletproof...figuratively speaking.
Now with Android, I am very disappointed. First, I went with Sprite Backup and let me tell you- it does not work. I did a complete backup when I got my phone. When an app changed some settings that screwed up my internet settings, I did a restore. To my surprised, it really didn't do much. I think the only backup it did was of my contacts. My internet settings were still jacked. Never had this issue with my Touch Pro 2.
I also tried, Titanium Backup and MyBackup Pro.
What I am looking for is a backup application that really works. That I can make a backup with ONE touch (like on my Palm and Winmo) and recover with one touch as well. An app that backups everything; settings, my apps, wallpapers, contacts...etc. Where I don't have to do one at a time.

If not, will you make it for me? A friend of mine told me how easy app inventor is. When I get my google invitation, that will be my first app.

I know this has been asked on other forums... but wanted it specifically for the Hero... how well does the application work with a touch screen?
I know 4 bucks isn't a lot... but meh... I'd rather make sure it works first.
Ad I have to ask for the sake of asking... sheer curiosity killed the cat.
Jail breaking an ipod lets you get apps for free... putting a rom on your phone doesn't make apps free for us does it? (not that I'm looking for free... just curious)

Is there a way to make highlighting of a row in a listview delayed if the user is simply scrolling the list with their finger? To clarify, when the user puts their finger down to scroll, the intersected row (if any) gets highlighted for a short moment, before it realizes the user is just trying to scroll (then the highlight turns off). It seems like the timeout is too short - iPhone has the same behavior, just seems that the timeout is longer to discern between a real row- select-touch, and just a scroll-touch. Any way to tweak this? You can see the behavior in any of the system apps that have lists..

I've just noticed that launching the Camera and Camcorder (in the emulator) would result in a black screen (instead of the famous moving small boxes), i've looked for why this happening on the net, apparently that the camera is disabled by default when you create an AVD. Decided to create another AVD with the camera enabled and launched it and still getting that black screen. Anyone has any idea how to fix this ?
My problem in the first place is that my application is using the default camera application using intents just like in the following: Intent imageCaptureIntent = new Intent (MediaStore.ACTION_IMAGE_CAPTURE); imageCaptureIntent.putExtra(MediaStore.EXTRA_OUTPUT, Uri.fromFile(new File("/sdcard/imageCaptureIntent.jpg"))); startActivityForResult(imageCaptureIntent, WHATEVER_REQ_CODE); I thought that there's a problem in my intent request but like i said before, running the camera on the emulator itself is the problem. By the way, You can run the "camera preview" in the API demos with no problems, how come!

wifiMgr.setWifiEnabled(true);
But the wifi is simply not turned on! Similarly I use
mAudio.setRingerMode(AudioManager.RINGER_MODE_SILENT);
or
mAudio.setRingerMode(AudioManager.RINGER_MODE_NORMAL);.....................
