Android :: Another App Like Photo Vault? [Stash Away Personal Photos]
Nov 12, 2009
I downloaded Photovault, thinking that it would give me the ability to go and hide particular photos, and it hasn't worked. I plugged my droid to the computer and dropped the photos in the "private" folder, however, they still show up in "Gallery", and are visible and do not need a password.
IS there any other app that works for the drod that functions like this?

Why is it when I save a photo as wallpaper it stretches beyond it's normal size? I'm sure it's a setting that I've looked at over and over but sometimes you need another pair of eyes to look at the problem.

I sync all my photo from PC to Google Photos and sync back to my android devices (Sony Ericsson Xperia Mini and Acer Iconia A500). I can view the photos in Gallery but when I try to setup wallpaper (Multiple Live Wallpaper, Wallpaper Wizardrii), I'm not able to see those photos/albums. I also not able to find the actual file for those photos.
May I know how to download those photos as actual files??

Is there a photo gallery application that allows you to move photos from one folder to another? I use a File Manager to do this, but I'm trying to help out a novice user on an Evo; the Evo Photos application doesn't seem to allow you to move photos.

I hate that the incredible default gallery shows videos and photos together in the same app. Is there any app out there that just shows your photos or is there a way to hide videos in the default gallery so I can see my videos with another app?

I could be missing this, but is there a way to send/tag a photo to facebook from the photo itself? The Facebook app for my blackberry lets me do this. If I pull up a photo I just took, I have the option of sending it to Facebook, as well as tagging it. I can't figure out how to do this on my Moment.

Has anyone else experienced a strange problem with the Milestone (running 2.1) camera - in every photo, the right edge shows a thin vertical strip of the next photo! Shows in both Gallery & Media Gallery.. but don't have a similar issue in a video.

Camera app or organizer app that actually moves pictures instead of just displays them differently via a viewing app?
For example it would be great to have photos automatically go into pre-set albums or quickly and easily reorganize them afterwards etc. I know I can manually move them via file managers but looking for a dedicated app with different options/filters etc.

Has anybody used the program "Personal Assistant" by Pageonce for Android or any other phone? It seems like a useful little app, but I am hesitant to provide it with any of my account (especially bank account) information without first knowing if others have used the program and deemed it safe and secure. I haven't really been able to find any testimonials online save for a few forum responses that seem to be written by one of the program's creators, which obviously doesn't make me feel much better. If anybody has used it and can confirm that my information will be safe, please let me know.

Just trying this out on photos of photos. And yes it works. These are my own shots taken with a DSLR, they are printed and hanging and I used my Captivate to photograph them off the wall. The first one I instantly re-tagged because I didn't realize the exact name of what I photographed. Another way to do this is to use a flickr app, like "Just Pictures" that can push shots to Google Goggles for analysis, but I was just trying this straight from my wall. Goggles by nyer82, on Flickr. Currently I use the desktop app quicken to track all my expenses. More and more I'm relying on my android phone to do my daily tasks. I have been searching and reading for weeks now trying to find an app that suits my needs and so far I haven't come up with what I need. Many come close but so far none can provide all three of my requirements. So, does any one of you l33t android users know of an app that can meet these three requirements?
(1) Must be stand alone - If it can sync with a desktop app like quicken for example, that's great but it shouldn't rely on that to function.
(2) Supports downloading bank data directly - My bank (USAA) supports just about every connection method. Every app I have tried for every phone that has this feature has been able to connect to USAA and retrieve my transactions without issue. Downloading to a file and importing manually is not an option.
(3) Must support recurring / scheduled transactions - I want to be able to plug in my monthly recurring bills and have some way of viewing my future balance as the bills hit. Quicken does this with a bar graph and a calender. Either one would work. The biggie (Mint.com) is great but doesn't support the third requirement even though hundreds of people have posted, asking for this feature (guess no one is listening or acting on it). Quicken doesn't have a mobile app. Splash money doesn't have an Android version. Ascendo Money doesn't have an android version. Seems like everything I have found is 2 out of 3.. I don't see how my list of 3 is asking that much?

Does anyone have a bead on a well-performing, well-design app that I can store personal data/info with in a secure fashion? Specifically, I want to store information such as my kid's Kaiser ID numbers, doctor's names, etc... but it has to be secure. Poking around in the Market hasn't really turned up any great options for me so I thought I'd turn to the community for suggestions.

I am constantly amazed at how many posts are made and how quickly they are responded to. So, a little personal question. . .
Who are you?
I assume that most of us here are adults who work a job that allows them to buy an expensive phone (or two or three) with expensive data plans, so are you all at work slacking off and following the threads?
I must admit I am guilty of that occasionally as I linger around here.

Whenever I see an app that requires the use of this information, 9/10 times I do not download it. I see a lot of games on the marketplace that require this information and I just don't see the point in a game where I toss paper into a trash can needing to know my location at the time I am using the app. Do any of the rest of you see any red flags that turn you off of certain apps despite how cool they may seem?

My company is going to be switching to Gmail for work. I will thus have a work and personal Gmail account. On Android, will I be able to run two instances of the Gmail app, one for work and one for personal?
I don't want to run one through the standard mail program because I don't want to lose the gmail features like Conversations.

Do you know any application to prevent other applications from reading your personal data (contact, identity, history, ...) ? That would be great to be able to use our phone without giving away to unknown company/people our very personal data.

I've been working on a game for a while now that relies heavily on UDP connections. Its been running great, but since releasing in the market, we've been flooded by complaints from Hero users that it doesn't run what-so-ever. We haven't received this complaint from anyone other than Hero users (seems 100% isolated to the device), and I haven't been able to reproduce using an HTC ROM on my personal G1 (thought it might be related to the OS), but I'm starting to suspect it's a hardware issue...
Does anyone on the list have access to a Hero, and adb that I could ship an APK with a bit of extra logging to see exactly whats going wrong?

I have a new HTC Incredible on order.
One of the big reasons that I am switching phones was because my Windows Mobile calendar messed up the times (shifted things an hour off) and totally messed up my entire calendar. I cannot afford to have any calendar issues, so I need a ROCK SOLID calendar that is stable, syncs well, integrates well, allows for recurring inputs, and has nice month, week, and daily views.
Most threads about calendar apps were started several months ago, so I was wondering what the latest developments and updates to these apps and widgets might have done to your evaluation of them. Personally, I would love to get in on the public beta of PI when it is finally announced. I have used Pocket Informant and Agenda Fusion on my Windows Mobile devices before. I have never used CalenGoo, but something like that would be wonderful, too.
What is the latest and greatest you have found regarding the DINC and:
Jorte App vs Calendar Pad Pro App vs iRT Calendar App vs Gemini App vs Hubkap Mobile App
and
aniAgenda Widget vs Pure Calendar Grid Widget vs Pure Calendar Agenda Widget vs Androidlet Calendar Widget.

Photos are uploaded 100% complete but when i go onto Google Photos, the photos are chopped, only top 80-90% are there, the rest is filled with a grey border.
