I picked up a Samsung Moment through Sprint back around June. I wanted the new Sprint 4G phone but figured I would make due with the Moment until the craze died down. Anyhow, I own a small firearm forum,Semi-auto Rifles. This is my main reason for going with a driod phone. It allows me to monitor my site away from home without popping out my laptop. Well for the last 2-3 months the Moment did it's job flawlessly. I was able to use it to maintain my site...even when my cable modem blew up one time and some cable guy disconnected our cable by mistake.My problem started this past weekend when all of a sudden my Samsung Moment started having issues locating my website. I keep getting the same "Web Page Not Available" message. Now sometimes it will allow me to access the home page and then freak out on the forum index page. This is the only site I have trouble with, I can access any other site and surf until I'm blue in the face. I took my phone down to the local Sprint store and they said my phone was out dated. So after 15mins and deleting all my Apps, they had my phone working again. Then come about 2-3hrs later, I started getting the same Web Page Not Available" message. During the whole time my site has been up and running with zero issues.
Anyhow, does anyone have a clue? I'm lost and this phone is worthless if I can't even access my own website. While I was at the Sprint store, I started tooling around on the new HTC 4G phone. It pulled up my web site and worked for about 10-15 minutes before it started giving me the same dang "Web Page Not Working" message. So I'm not sure if it's a phone thing or a Sprint thing? Then for the interest of Science, I started surfing other related forums to see if maybe Sprint was blocking firearm forums. I was able to tool around on other gun forums for about 10 minutes with zero issues.
I have an HTC Incredible - all set up for the past two weeks without any issues with Microsoft Exchange and company email. All of a sudden, nothing is working. My yahoo account works - I can send and receive with out a problem. I just can't receive. I can send email from the droid (company email) back to my Microsoft Exchange account without any issues. Something isn't in sync. I have tried pulling the battery and trying to resync.

It was annoying that I couldn't get my Yahoo account set up, then I found instructions on the internet for the manual setup (Thank You to Smilepack, whoever you are!). NOW, my next problem is this: can I delete on email on the Droid without deleting it on my actual Yahoo or Gmail account? My BlackBerry had a "Delete on Handheld only" option. That would really be nice to have.

I would say that Company as a PIM entry is the most elementary feature of a PIM.Today I have a Windows phone (WM5), which has a great PIM for business contacts, with email address, business phone, switchboard phone, web address, company name, business address, private address, etc, etc.On Andoid Market I find nothing similar.It is unbelievable! When using the smart search function of the dialer or searching in contacts my Magic only searches numbers and names, not company names.I have hundreds of contacts that are just companies (airlines, couriers, etc. etc.) with no specific contacts at that company.Those contacts are effectively inaccessible on my phone now as the only way to find them is to scroll through the hundreds of blank contacts to find what I am looking for.When I synchronized contacts with my HTC magic, any contact with a company name, but nothing in the 'Name' field had the word 'unnamed' added to the name field.The only work around I can see is to use Outlook to manually add the company name to each of these contacts and then change the 'File As' field to read the company name.

For example, texts from T-Mobile appear as from "T-Mobile". However, for some reason every text I get off a company starts a new thread, rather than all being in the same thread.
View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen I got my Droid X, it had an app that let me search my company directory (Exchange) for numbers and email addresses. I think it was just called Company Directory or Search Company Directory.Today, I go to look for it, and the app is gone. I'm pretty sure I didn't manually uninstall it. Did it go away with Froyo for some reason (not sure if I used it since the OTA update)?UPDATE: Turns out, Corporate Directory doesn't exist as a separate app anymore, but the functionality is still there. Just go to Contacts and then hit the search button. Type in the name you're looking for, and after entering at least three characters, you'll see the option to search your company directory below all your phone contacts.
Good job, Google, on taking something as simple and easy to use as the Corporate Directory app and hiding it's functionality deep within the bowels of the phone in a place almost impossible to find.I knew I could search my company directory with Eclair because there was an app for that right there on the phone. If I didn't know it must be possible somehow I wouldn't have scoured the internet for the answer, and probably would never have known the functionality existed. Why must you hide big stuff like this, Google? Oh, why?
I've set up my Desire to synch email, contacts and calender with Outlook. All seems to work fine except when I try to lookup a contact from the company directory. It never finds anyone. This worked on my old WM device. Am i doing something wrong or is there something I need to do to synch the directory first?
View 11 Replies View RelatedThe company directory is still not working in Android 2.2 at least on my EVO 4G. But the good news is that you dont need it to work. There is a better way. I kept thinking that Google was supposed to be the king of searching, so I could not accept the fact that you cannot atleast search by company name. After doing some digging I found out a way to find contacts by company name.Press the "+" sign next to "Phone" on your home screen then select "Widgets" next select "Google Search" then select "People" and place the search bar on your home screen. Now you can search your contacts by name, company, number, etc. You can select the contact and see the full contact info for that individual and dial the number from there. You can also have the search pull up related email, texts, etc. when you search for the individuals name.
View 5 Replies View RelatedIn win for mobile is it possible to sort your contacts by company name in the same way as in Outlook. I use HTC Desire in my work and I have 1200 contacts. It is impossible to remember all names, but I remember the company name. It would be a nice feature in Android.

I have Activesync working fine, able to receive and send emails, have all of my contacts and calendar items. Works flawlessly, other than the Company Directory. When I search for someone in the Global Address List using the Online Directories and then Company Directory I get the person, their email, Company and Title but no phone numbers. I have used a couple of iPhones and they return all the info and accessing the OMA page and searching returns all the info. Any thoughts? I looked at the logs on the OMA sever (also our OWA server) and show no errors in the Event viewer or the IIS logs and VZW was completely useless.

I can get email addresses out of our GAL on exchange no problem. I can't figure out how to search the company directory/GAL for phone numbers though.
I have a Droid Razr, android v. 4.0.4 and I would like to view both the name and company of each contact, instead of just the name. In the contact view settings, only the "view first name" and "view last name" options are there. Is there any way to turn on the company field in the contact list?

It seems like a useful little app, but I am hesitant to provide it with any of my account (especially bank account) information without first knowing if others have used the program and deemed it safe and secure. I haven't really been able to find any testimonials online save for a few forum responses that seem to be written by one of the program's creators, which obviously doesn't make me feel much better. If anybody has used it and can confirm that my information will be safe, please let me know.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI'm running 4.3 on my AT&T (not sure if that is relevant) Galaxy S3. A few weeks ago I updated it to 4.3 when I saw a message that an update was available.
I keep a lot of work contacts in the phone but over the years I've built a collection of "contacts" that have no first/last name but are simply just a "Company" field with a phone and fax number.
Before 4.3 I could use the keypad in the stock Phone app to spell out company names (e.g. I could pull up the number for "XYZ Widgets, Inc." by typing "XYZ", just like searching for a person's name).
Ever since 4.3 I've been unable to do this. I go into my contacts and they are still shown there. But they do not show up when I'm typing them out. So I have a workaround but it's cumbersome.
Any settings I can change to try to fix this? I took some screen captures of the menu options I have under "call settings" in the Phone app. Link: [URL]
Currently I use the desktop app quicken to track all my expenses. More and more I'm relying on my android phone to do my daily tasks. I have been searching and reading for weeks now trying to find an app that suits my needs and so far I haven't come up with what I need. Many come close but so far none can provide all three of my requirements. So, does any one of you l33t android users know of an app that can meet these three requirements?
(1) Must be stand alone - If it can sync with a desktop app like quicken for example, that's great but it shouldn't rely on that to function.
(2) Supports downloading bank data directly - My bank (USAA) supports just about every connection method. Every app I have tried for every phone that has this feature has been able to connect to USAA and retrieve my transactions without issue. Downloading to a file and importing manually is not an option.
(3) Must support recurring / scheduled transactions - I want to be able to plug in my monthly recurring bills and have some way of viewing my future balance as the bills hit. Quicken does this with a bar graph and a calender. Either one would work. The biggie (Mint.com) is great but doesn't support the third requirement even though hundreds of people have posted, asking for this feature (guess no one is listening or acting on it). Quicken doesn't have a mobile app. Splash money doesn't have an Android version. Ascendo Money doesn't have an android version. Seems like everything I have found is 2 out of 3.. I don't see how my list of 3 is asking that much?
Does anyone have a bead on a well-performing, well-design app that I can store personal data/info with in a secure fashion? Specifically, I want to store information such as my kid's Kaiser ID numbers, doctor's names, etc... but it has to be secure. Poking around in the Market hasn't really turned up any great options for me so I thought I'd turn to the community for suggestions.
