Im having some problems with my desire.. my phone is presently in a htc white logo > reset > htc white screen logo > reset loop of doom... I can load up my hboot menu but that is about it.. If i try and select recovery in hboot it just resets the phone back into the htc white logo > reset > htc white screen logo loop.. somebody has suggested that unrevoked scewed up somewhere along the line and to install the RUU but windows isnt even recognising it as a USB drive in hboot...

I am tryibng to downgrade my Hboot from 0.93 to 0.8 and am following this guide:[HOWTO] Downgrade Froyo (2.2) to Stock 2.1 (ANY HBOOT | WIN/LINUX/MAC | ROOT) - xda-developers The reason I amn doing this is because with Unrevoked I get a Validation Error Backup CID Is Missing or words to that effect.I understand that downgrading to an earflier Hboot version would make Unrevoked work and I can then root my htc desire. This is where I have a problem:
Checking misc partition
/data/local/mtd0.image: ok
CID retrieved: H3__001
Modifying misc parition image
Flashing misc partition... mtd: not writing bad block at 0x00000000
error writing misc: no space left on device Flash complete If any error ocurred here, press ctrl-c and run this utility again this I assume is talking about the little space i have ont he phone itself and not the sdcard as I have tried 2 sd cards. I did a factory reset, created the gold card and went throguh the process several times. If I let it go and carry on it goes through a few more things before it finally finishes. Then it reboots my htc desire and a white screen with skateboarding androids shows up, from there in the instructions it tells me to push up for flashing if i do that it goes to the nerxt option which is sim lock and I dont think that is what it is meant to be.If I boot into reocvery the phone freezes at a screen pic of the phone with a gtriangle and exclamation mark and so I take the battery out and reboot that way. Please can someone explain where am I going wrong here?
Windows 7 x64
Android 2.1

Just about to root my girls branded Desire. When I did it before I had to debrand. From what I've just been reading is it just a case of using Unrevoked 3.21 now? No need to create goldcard etc? Been so long since I did mine it looks like its changed a bit.

I have a T-mobile UK Desire which arrived on 30th July. I'd like to root it and load froyo but I'm baffled as to which process to use: I have 0.80. Turned on the phone while holding back button which gave these details:
BRAVO PVT1 SHIP S-ON
HBOOT-0.80.0000
MICROP 031d
TOUCH PANEL-SYNT0101
RADIO-4.06.00.02_2

I don't have access to the packaging but I'm fairly sure it said 3.7 Touch Senstive Screen (no mention of AMOLED). I've tried having a look at the black hue the screen displays but this just confused me since I don't really know what i am looking for / got nothing to compare it to. This post has confused me further: "SLCD will NOT work on HBOOT 0.80" lollylost100 Senior Member [FAQ] HBOOT 0.83 / 0.92 / SLCD - rooting and recovery - xda-developers. Was 'lollylost100' correct and I DEFINETLY have AMOLED just because of the HBOOT version? Or is it possible to have 0.80 + SLCD?

If you've upgraded to official froyo you probably know that downgrading can be difficult, especially if you have an SLCD screen. If you did a branded upgrade (e.g. Vodafone) then the old methods won't work at all.Since current rooting methods won't work on froyo this can be a big problem.I've created a tool that will downgrade Froyo to stock 2.1. It requires a goldcard if your phone is branded. The download details as well as instructions can be found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=768256

I have a Desire on Orange and yesterday it decided to reboot its self and then get stuck on the white htc screen, I have not been able to get past this screen since. I recently upgraded to Froyo so I'm not sure if this has something to do with it? Also I would often get stuck in a boot loop before and after the upgrade.
I have looked at rooting it, but I understand you need a goldcard? which I cannot make because I cannot get on the phone.... Is there anyway I can flash it without a goldcard?
I have tried to do a hard reset but this didnt help it is still the same, I also try to get to recovery but the phone just resets.
I would normally take it to an Orange shop and ask them to get it repaired but I cant do this as I replaced the screen a few months back and had to take of the void stickers to get to it.

I have a HTC Desire V running stock android 4.0.4 ICS. I had not rooted my device or flashed any ROM or any custom recovery or what not. Now, the issue. It all began a month ago when my phone started rebooting itself at frequent intervals, even when I was not using it. At first, it would reboot every 10-12 hours and that did not bother me, so I ignored it. After some time the intervals shortened and the phone used to reboot every 5 hours or so. I tried removing the external sd card, but that did not solve the problem. Then, after some days, it became more intense and the phone started rebooting every hour. At last, 2 days ago, it just turned off and now it is refusing to turn on. Nothing at all happens when I hold the power button or try to charge it. Nothing appears on the screen. I tried removing and reinserting my battery after some time, I tried removing both sim cards(the memory card was already removed) but to no avail.

I 'had' a desire - for a whole 3 days. Then it stopped booting ( white 'HTC' screen ) or boot looped when in 'safe mode'. Spoke to HTC, tried factory reset - they told me to take it back to the shop. I got a refund - the iphone was announced the same day and now I'm in two minds! So, was I just unlucky or is the desire not very reliable? The iphone's I've used seem to be much more solidly made. For the short period I had it I was a little concerned by the inability to back up the apps & stuff externally. I just sort of assumed that I would be using my PC to get apps and stuff and then transfer to the desire - just like itunes. Now, I know itunes is not too popular here (!) but the fact that all my purchases are held on my pc too makes me more comfortable. So
1) Is there any way that the desire can store all it's stuff in a similar way?
2) Now my phone's ( & mem card ) gone have I lost the apps I bought?
3) Can I only by Apps from market via the phone itself?
Sorry for the questions, but I'm not sure whether I want another desire now. I really like the interface but I'm not sure that the overall package is 'friendly' enough. The iphone just looks more polished.

Last night, my phone was fine before I plugged it in to charge. This morning. No alarm went off. The screen was extremely jerky when I was trying to browse through music. And then random bits of screen were being "pressed" when I was tyring to do anything. Rebooted it, no change. Now the bottom cm or so of screen stops responding to ANY finger presses. Thus making it impossible for me to get into settings menu. But it IS responsive with the notification bar (ie you can drag it down near the bottom and jiggle it around the area which I can no longer press)I've got launcher pro, which updated last night automatically. So I have everything on its launcher bar, now I can't get to anything. (How do I create a shortcut to the list of all apps?).Now when I reboot the phone its in safe mode with sense and the bottom cm is still unresponsive.Getting a bit annoyed now as its making everything a bitch to do and I can't reinstall Froyo til I get home from work. Anyone had similar issues?

I bought a new 16gb SD card, but when I put it into the phone and try to boot it up, the phone just hangs with the boot up screen playing over and over? Anybody else had anything similar? I've inserted the SD card into a mates laptop, and it recognizes it fine. Running a rooted handset with DeFrost ROM.

I have a branded Desire, with Telstra software. These last few months have seen my desire constantly rebooting itself. This occurs 2-3 times a day without fail. It not only restarts itself, but takes a good 10-15 minutes to fully boot - constantly 're-rebooting'. I have removed ALL after-market applications, removed all data from the memory card, so it's back to how it was straight out the box (with the exception of user data - contacts, messages etc.). I don't feel comfortable with debranding / rooting the phone. Does anyone have any ideas as to what may be causing the restarts, and a possible way around it? There is no definitive process or application involved in the restarts, it is entirely random.

I have an HTC Desire rooted with Open Desire. Today I just woke up, opened my device and I always got an Android system error message, and nothing would load. I tried rebooting, I took out the battery, I put a different SD card, I restored an older backup and I wiped all the data! Now it's always stuck at the green hTc screen.

How do you reboot? I seem to have lost the original home screen and I'd like it back. Will it return on a reboot or reset. Will I have to reinput my email settings etc? Been waiting a long time for Desire but totally new to smartphones and Android.
Upgrading from a Nokia and a Palm T5.

My phone soft reboots every few seconds, gets as far as "HTC, Quietly Brilliant" and then reboots, anyone had this before and know of a solution? I've googled around but most people with a reboot issue it is random, mine is constant and has been rebooting constantly for over an hour, only way to stop it is yank out the battery but still can't boot afterwards.

The title is a little bit missleading. I removed the brand on my phone rooted it and instaled the newest version of Leedriod.
When i Turn on my Desire i will be prompted to enter the pin. When i dont enter anything the system loads and i just can make emergency calls.
So the question is how to enter my PIN afterwards ?

My phone is playing up, particularly signal and reception wise. So I want to 'format' the phone back to its factory settings and start again. However, I have a few questions. Firstly, I have noted what apps I have downloaded. Apart from the ones on the SD card, will I have to pay for the paid apps again in the Market? Will my phone revert back to 2.1?What's the best way to reboot the phone?

Is to enable Bluetooth Discoverable mode! In about 80% of all cases it will first hang and then - about 5 seconds later - it reboots.
Only directly after such a reboot one can set the phone discoverable without fear of another crash. Terrific!
Is there any place where could one report that bug, where Google and/or HTC would be listening?

A few weeks ago I registered for that network thing, back then I was using the HTC Hero. At first it would work, then if I turned my phone work, it would say "Sim can not be registered to this Network" and when I searched for other Networks, only Orange would appear.
When I got the Desire, I can never seem to get this to work still. Orange has terrible signal in my area although there site says its amazing. I never have network in my own home. and Im not sure I have ever saw full bars on my Desire.
So my question is, does yours work 24/7 if you have it. Does anyone else get the sim not registered thing after a reboot and how can I actually set it up properly cause I may be doing it wrong. p.s I have roaming n etc on

I proceeded to try and turn the phone off but it gave me lots of options with a white screen, i couldn't get it to do anything so i took the battery out and then it started normally.

Is there anyone that can give me step by step instructions on how to use hboot to install files from the root directory on my sd card. Ex.
This is what I did: I downloaded Clockworkmod 2.5.0.5, renamed the Clockworkmod zip to PB31IMG.zip, and placed it on the root of my SD card. Power-off, and boot into HBOOT (pressing the down vol+power button).
Then I downloaded Superuser 2.3.6.1 and place it on the SD card, use Clockworkmod Recovery and choose "Install .zip from SD" option.
Restarted my phone, and there's Superuser."
I have tried going through hboot and never see these files once I have installed them on the SD card.

I have read conflicting things, so I come to the experts. My phone is on hboot 0.77 - is this OK to install the OTA 2.2? I have read that 0.77 may send the phone into an endless boot loop if you install Froyo.

What does boot into hboot mean? Is it just powering off the phone then holding down the volume button and press power? If so then can someone explain to me when I download a called PB31IMG.zip and put it into my sdcard then boot my phone up it does not say anything about an update. For instance, I want to update my radio from 1.00.03.04.06 to 2.15.00.07.28.
