View 8 RepliesI got my eris 2 weeks ago so 2.1, and it has hboot 1.49 (can someone tell me wht that is/means?) was already on it. I've found out that the hboot is why I can't root. Has anyone came up w/ a workaround yet?
I only want to root to be able to use the Eris as a hot spot for my itouch, so if there is another way to do that.
A leak has never touched this phone.

PB000IMG.zip fails.
Every Google hit returns a dead end because no one answers the poster with a Main Version is older! failure error.
Is it possible to do this yet? I really want to try the new Desire HD Rom and with the current software i dont think im able to root, therefore i would need to downgrade my HBOOT??

I can load up my hboot menu but that is about it.. If i try and select recovery in hboot it just resets the phone back into the htc white logo > reset > htc white screen logo loop.. somebody has suggested that unrevoked scewed up somewhere along the line and to install the RUU but windows isnt even recognising it as a USB drive in hboot...
View 7 Replies View RelatedI am tryibng to downgrade my Hboot from 0.93 to 0.8 and am following this guide:[HOWTO] Downgrade Froyo (2.2) to Stock 2.1 (ANY HBOOT | WIN/LINUX/MAC | ROOT) - xda-developers The reason I amn doing this is because with Unrevoked I get a Validation Error Backup CID Is Missing or words to that effect.I understand that downgrading to an earflier Hboot version would make Unrevoked work and I can then root my htc desire. This is where I have a problem:
Checking misc partition
/data/local/mtd0.image: ok
CID retrieved: H3__001
Modifying misc parition image
Flashing misc partition... mtd: not writing bad block at 0x00000000
error writing misc: no space left on device Flash complete If any error ocurred here, press ctrl-c and run this utility again this I assume is talking about the little space i have ont he phone itself and not the sdcard as I have tried 2 sd cards. I did a factory reset, created the gold card and went throguh the process several times. If I let it go and carry on it goes through a few more things before it finally finishes. Then it reboots my htc desire and a white screen with skateboarding androids shows up, from there in the instructions it tells me to push up for flashing if i do that it goes to the nerxt option which is sim lock and I dont think that is what it is meant to be.If I boot into reocvery the phone freezes at a screen pic of the phone with a gtriangle and exclamation mark and so I take the battery out and reboot that way. Please can someone explain where am I going wrong here?
Windows 7 x64
Android 2.1
Hboot 0.93
OMG my desire wont boot up right!it shows the white screen and htc but it just stays there and i cant get into the HBOOT to reboot i always have to remove the battery to kill it. any help?? plus the phones hot should i just fully let it charged while it is off?
View 1 Replies View RelatedJust about to root my girls branded Desire. When I did it before I had to debrand. From what I've just been reading is it just a case of using Unrevoked 3.21 now? No need to create goldcard etc? Been so long since I did mine it looks like its changed a bit.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a T-mobile UK Desire which arrived on 30th July. I'd like to root it and load froyo but I'm baffled as to which process to use: I have 0.80. Turned on the phone while holding back button which gave these details:

HBOOT-0.80.0000
MICROP 031d
TOUCH PANEL-SYNT0101

I don't have access to the packaging but I'm fairly sure it said 3.7 Touch Senstive Screen (no mention of AMOLED). I've tried having a look at the black hue the screen displays but this just confused me since I don't really know what i am looking for / got nothing to compare it to. This post has confused me further: "SLCD will NOT work on HBOOT 0.80" lollylost100 Senior Member [FAQ] HBOOT 0.83 / 0.92 / SLCD - rooting and recovery - xda-developers. Was 'lollylost100' correct and I DEFINETLY have AMOLED just because of the HBOOT version? Or is it possible to have 0.80 + SLCD?
Hey everybody, I've looked for an answer on here, but to no avail. I tried to root my replacement Eris with 1.5, and HBOOT 1.47. Everything was going well until it got to the point of making a recovery, which for some reason, my phone wouldn't let me do. Infuriated and frustrated, I followed the steps to go back to 1.5 to a tee. However, I miss Vlingo so much, and i went to install the OTA 2.1, and it aborted the installation. I now have HBOOT 1.49.2000, so does my phone basically think I have the 2.1v3 leak, or am I just flat-out screwed? Done multiple factory resets, etc. and they haven't helped either
View 6 Replies View RelatedIf you've upgraded to official froyo you probably know that downgrading can be difficult, especially if you have an SLCD screen. If you did a branded upgrade (e.g. Vodafone) then the old methods won't work at all.Since current rooting methods won't work on froyo this can be a big problem.I've created a tool that will downgrade Froyo to stock 2.1. It requires a goldcard if your phone is branded. The download details as well as instructions can be found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=768256
View 1 Replies View RelatedJust a quick question. Can an Eris with HBOOT version 1.46 be rooted? I know v1.47 can, but I couldn't find another mention of 1.46 (and search won't allow that search term).
This is for my fiancee's phone that I bought her back in November. She is willing to swap Eris's with me since both mine and the replacement I just got are v1.49.
I have literally just signed up and this is probably in the wrong section but oh well. i have a htc desire and i wanted to connect a wii remote to it. i installed the Wiimote app and then after researching i found out why it doesn't work. This is because i need to root it. what i would like to know is what is rooting?
is it safe to do? if i didn't like it could i turn it back ? and also would it really solve my problem?
Sorry if this is a dumb question but just need to get an idea of why and if I need to root my HTC Desire. Why do I need to root my phone, what's the benefit. I just recently updated it with a download of the HTC Froyo ROM. I've been reading a lot on rooting the phone and most have certain requirements on the version of the HBOOT being version 0.80 or lower. Mine is currently at 0.92.0001 and I can't find a guide that says I can do it for this version. Also I have different values in the software versions.
Android Version 2.2

I spent over an hour last night try to find out how to root the desire. I found several tuts on xda developers but they are quite complicated i dont mind the effort but i saw how the evo has an app which roots the phone just by pressing a button. What are the chances of this being developed for the desire?
View 8 Replies View Relatedreally tempted to root my desire, to get rid of all the Orange branding, and demo apps.
seems to be a few different methods, lekkys, unrevoked, goldcards, which roms, radios...
All a bit bewildering/scary tbh!
so where do I start? which methods best?
I am a new Desire user, Cellular finally got a decent phone. Now I'm a programmer and of course I want to root my phone. Problem is that all the guide are fore earlier boot loaders, I have version 98. Any body got a clue?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have just done the 'one click root' to my desire (here), and after installing leeDroid's Froyo rom (2.0c) I have lost root access to my phone. This means I cant do a Titanium Backup restore to get all my stuff back. Anyone know of a quick fix? or do I have to roll back and start again?
View 9 Replies View RelatedSo here is my question .
Can i root the htc desire and, after that, get back to android 2.2 fully operational with sense interface?
I've got my Desire for 3 months now. I realy think that I have done the best phone choice of my life. But now after installing/uninstalling/testing many apps I have capacity problems with internal memory. I'm using the method of installing apps directly to the SD. But I always have the low on space notification on my task bar. 75% of what I have installed is on my sd. The rest 25% is HTC Sense apps. My Desire runs on stock froyo and combined with htc sense I have the feeling of perfection while using my phone. Everything run smoothly. No complaints.
So what are my options here? Root? I suppose that I will have to erase everything on my phone memory so I would have more space. If this is the case then I have to ask for your suggestions. a) I will have to stick with launcherpro and I dont like it. No htc sense on non stock froyo right? b) I have many security and privacy concerns for using those roms that some groups have developed. Are they stable as atleast stock froyo? Are they safe? Is there a good phone resources administration? omg 12 mb for adobe flash player on my memory?
Is there anyone that can give me step by step instructions on how to use hboot to install files from the root directory on my sd card. Ex.
This is what I did: I downloaded Clockworkmod 2.5.0.5, renamed the Clockworkmod zip to PB31IMG.zip, and placed it on the root of my SD card. Power-off, and boot into HBOOT (pressing the down vol+power button).
Then I downloaded Superuser 2.3.6.1 and place it on the SD card, use Clockworkmod Recovery and choose "Install .zip from SD" option.
Restarted my phone, and there's Superuser."
I have tried going through hboot and never see these files once I have installed them on the SD card.
I have read conflicting things, so I come to the experts. My phone is on hboot 0.77 - is this OK to install the OTA 2.2? I have read that 0.77 may send the phone into an endless boot loop if you install Froyo.

View 1 Replies View RelatedWhat does boot into hboot mean? Is it just powering off the phone then holding down the volume button and press power? If so then can someone explain to me when I download a called PB31IMG.zip and put it into my sdcard then boot my phone up it does not say anything about an update. For instance, I want to update my radio from 1.00.03.04.06 to 2.15.00.07.28.

View 25 Replies View RelatedOk this may possibly be the dumbest question asked, but how do you tell what your Hboot is? I see people saying that with 1.49 you can not root, but I rooted my phone and for some reason I remember seeing 1.49 on my phone somewhere but I can not remember.
View 12 Replies View RelatedWhen I reboot in recovery, it looks like my HBOOT version in .77. Someone in one of the threads mentioned that .77 and .79 were floating around as the safe options. How can I upgrade HBOOT versions, and with everything running fine, is there any benefit to upgrading? I'm running unrevoked forever, second wave rom, and newest radio leak if that matters.
