View 2 Replies View RelatedRecently, I flashed CM7 (Neutrino ROM) onto my Atrix, and I'm loving it. However, there is one problem left: The stock calendar app that came with the Atrix is gone, and I can't use aCalendar or Agenda any more without resorting to Google Calendar, which I will not, being very sensitive about data privacy.
How can I get back a purely local calendar that both are able to sync with? They do not know about each other (same with Jorte, Business Calendar, ...), and I have not found any suitable replacement for that team so far, as most calendar apps' native widgets do no fulfill my requirements and Agenda is very, very customizable.
I just got the phone, read over the whole FAQ and had some questions.
1. Is there a way to keep wifi on as the phone seems to turn it off, or does it really kill the battery?
2. Is there any application that is capable of removing the system apps. I didn't understand what they meant when that was asked in the faq.
How to find out mobile information.for installing corresponding app on mobile.
right now i am using useragent.what i will do for useragent not supported mobile .
This thread is to discuss the pros and cons of each travel app and recommend your favorite one(s). Please mention ones that aren't listed above in the poll too!
I'm not sure if "local" is the correct term to use but I'm just talking about apps like, Yelp!, WHERE, Google Places Directory, etc. I've downloaded most of them but, as with most things, there's a few things I like about each and none of them are "perfect" in my view. So I was just curious what everyone's opinion was when it came to all these apps and which one they like the best and why.
I have a strange problem with my Galaxy S. I have unlimited mobile internet(3G), but not all Apps work.
For example when I am on the mobile internet network, de standard Internet browser does not work. It just displays a white page whatever I'm trying to load.Other programs say there is no internet connection avaible or just don't respond.
However there are 2 programs that d work. Opera Mini and eBuddy can work with Wi-Fi and 3G. Other Apps like to check if it's gonna rain, or a News RSS viewer etcetera does not work. They only do with Wi-Fi.I have no clue what to search for and also no idea if it's my mobile phone or my provider(it's named 'Hi', it's dutch).
Does anyone know of any apps, or the best app, for finding restaurants near you and/or local attractions near you?
View 5 Replies View RelatedMy Incredible is rooted. For the past few days I've received a notification that a system update will be installed and the phone will reboot. Nothing happens, no reboot and no evident change. Now that the phone is rooted do I need to apply updates manually? Should I take the Verizon updates at all? (The only specific change mentioned in (more info" for this update is the addition of an app called "Slacker").
View 3 Replies View RelatedI've read through the step-by-step here, and while I've found it to be the clearest set of instructions I've encountered, I still have a couple points of confusion. It sounds like by the time I get to the end of Section 2 (version 1) I will have a custom ROM installed (2Q). Now I've used Titanium Backup (I used the pre-OTA Unrevoked for su) to back up apps/data/settings. But I'm not sure what that gets me. What if I want to revert the phone to exactly how it is now? A Titanium Restore would restore apps/data/settings into the custom ROM loaded in 2Q correct?
It appears my answer is in Section 3, item 3D (NAND backup). But at what point do I do Section 3? If I've already gone through Section 2, my current ROM is overwritten by the custom ROM loaded in 2Q, so it's too late to back it up, right? Perhaps I'm making this more difficult than it needs to be, and I'm usually not a complete idiot about technology! But I'm having trouble getting my arms around some of these concepts. I see a lot of instructions saying "do this, do this, do this", but very little explanation what's actually happening when I do these things, and why I'm doing them, so I'm failing to grasp how the various pieces and actions are fitting together.
Im looking for a way to leave my mobile data on, BUT only giving access to apps that i choose. For example, Mobile data should be on, but i want ONLY Whatsapp or BBM to connect to the mobile network. Is there an app that lets you do this? or settings somewhere.

I use navigation on my motorcycle and I used to be able to use Pandora at the same time, but lately just keeps stalling. Some seem to think in 2.1 Android's memory management is somehow messing with services that Pandora needs to run. Would installing it as a system app help in any way? I am running Cyanogen 5.0.5.7 if it matters at all.

I am not able to get this done using the Terminal Emulator, it keeps saying "cp not found". I also cannot find a function in Root Explorer to install the APK in the the system/app. Is there another way to install APK's into the system/app folder?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm a big fan of Toggle Settings but my one wish would be that it could toggle GPS. From what I understand, the security of Android doesn't allow any app to turn GPS on/off. My question is, since installing Mobile Defense as a system application allows it to turn my GPS on, would installing Toggle Settings as a system app enable the same feature? Does anybody know of a way around this or another app that is similar and can toggle GPS settings?
View 3 Replies View RelatedRecently I logged into GMail with my browser instead of the GMail app, and discovered what I've read before elsewhere... that the GMail mobile web page seems cooler and better, than the app.
So, I've been thinking... which is better? Is either better? Can they both be equally good?
Either way, it occurred to me, it's interesting that all the Android blogs fall all over themselves almost weekly to come out with various "Best X Android Apps" articles, but I don't think I've seen any articles about the best mobile web pages for Android (or any smart phone for that matter).
I understand the money is to be made in apps, and that not much can (yet) be done with the web that you can do with an app (until we have workable Flash?) but surely there must be some great mobile sites out there that are better than, or equal to, apps?
I'm appealing to all of you then to make your suggestions for Best or at least good mobile web pages to use on our Android phones. I'll be looking around myself, and will possibly turn the results into a blog post of my own.
Here are a couple of starters that seem to be better than the app versions:
- Gmail: nicer interface, quick access to GTalk and Buzz as well as Calender, etc.
- Evernote: www.evernote.com/m Evernote has a really good mobile web site in case you don't want to download the app.
I installed firefox mobile (alpha version) just to test it out, but I can't for the sake of it find it on the phone. Tried install it again and it says it was successful. Still nothing, and I find nothing when I try to uninstall it. The phone says it got 56MB left of internal storage. Have I just spent a great deal of the internal memory installing a "ghost app", and how can I get rid of it in that case? I don't have that many apps on the phone.

Multicsc : can not access to / system/csc/VOD/system/
Background: I have been trying to root my phone from information found in a youtube video. All went well and the little ninja bloke with the sniper rifle was in the app list. Tried installing busybox and was told that the phone was not rooted..
I think I ran the root application again and at some point I started getting this error message when in recovery. I have since run the one click root method to unroot the phone and the little nija dude is no longer there. Since I rooted the phone it will no longer connect to my wireless network, it finds the network and attempts to obtain an ip address. After a few min it times out and tries again. When I load the phone recovery the error message is still present.
I published an application that stores data in a local database.
Now I have to publish an update to this application to fix some little bugs, but I am afraid that downloading and installing the update will delate the local database associated with the previous version.
I would like to know how the update system works. Will installing an update completely delete all the apk, files, databases associeted with the previous version?
If so, how can I avoid this in my code?
I have recently purchased an unlocked HTC Desire. As you may or may not know, here in Australia the only carrier of the Desire is Telstra. However I use 3 mobile so that's the reason I purchased an unlocked device.
My problem is that my phone has about a dozen or more apps which are installed by Telstra and uninstallable. Most of them are 100% useless because I'm not even on their network and I'd like them out of my applications list.
I've had a read around and I saw something about being able to remove them by deleting the file and then uninstalling them using a command prompt program.
Would anyone please be able to give me detailed instructions on how to do this because I'm not sure how to find the system/apps folder and I'm also not sure on how to get the command prompt thing to work.
Is there any real benefit for pushing apps to the system/apps in terms of speed/stability?

That cannot be right. I cannot be forced to accept the market licence agreement in order to be able to install non market apps.Any suggestions on how I might get apps installed without ever clicking on "accept" on the market's licence agreement?I'm not afraid to get my hands dirty.
