Android :: Project Management / Business - Money Management Applications?
Oct 30, 2009I currently have a personal (HTC Touch Pro) and business phone (iPhone). With Sprint now offering unlimited any-mobile (freeing up 1300+ minutes a month on my family plan) and Google Voice allowing me to get a separate business number, I'm thinking about dropping my iPhone, and replacing the HTC with either a BlackBerry Tour or a Hero. I work in project management; I know that the BB does have applications that would be useful to me (as does the iPhone), but I can't find comparable apps for Android. As a personal phone though, I would rather have the Hero. Given that I've only been able to spend a limited amount of time browsing the Android Market in a Sprint store, I was hoping someone here might know of some good replacements for my "must have" apps.
1) PIM / Task management. I have a lot of tasks, meetings, and deadlines to manage. I need something similar to the functionality provided by Outlook. I currently use Pocket Informant on the iPhone, which allows me to view multiple calandars, see my schedule from the month-level view, and integrate my to-do lists. I can also assign calander events and to-do tasks to projects, give them priority, provide extra notes, add multiple reminders, etc.. I could probably live with the Android's calander, but I definately need a good to-do app.
2) Time tracking. I have an app on the iPhone (TimeLogger) that lets me track how much time I spend on projects for clients. The one I currently use allows me to start a timer and then come back later to stop it, which is helpful but not a must.
3) Personal finance manager. I track all of my purchases, have several accounts / cards, and need to be able to track/filter business vs personal purchases.
Android :: Embedding Activity On Felix OSGi Container
Feb 18, 2009I try felix OSGi on android it works fine until i try to embed an activity. Now some package are missing: Unresolved constraint in bundle 4: package; (package=android.content.res). I am unable to find where is this package. I think i must customize bootclasspath but how? I launch felix with this command (found on felix web site): /system/bin/dalvikvm -Xbootclasspath:/system/framework/core.jar - classpath bin/felix.jar org.apache.felix.main.Main. Any idea?

Aug 17, 2009Searched the forum for an existing thread, and couldn't believe there wasn't one on this subject! I didn't expect the battery life to be great, but it's worse than I'd hoped,Obviously, setting the screen brightness to minimum is one way. I've also tried to see if you can 'turn off' applications which may be running in the background, but can't find a way to do this. My previous Nokias allowed you to see what programs were running, and you could turn them off to save battery power. I know a selling point of the Hero is that you can switch to applications quickly without 'loading them up', but is this killing the battery?

Sep 25, 2013I was wondering what exactly SuperSU permission means. Does it means that if I grant a App SuperSU permission both at the install stage and later via the superSU rooted app, the app then have free hand to do anything on the device.I did a bit of research and ir does seem to be yhe case, wouldn't this be very dangerous to grant this permission to some less well know apps (ie not titanium backup calibre).
Although there is a separate permission for Internet access. Would an app with superSU be able to give itself stealth internet access and thus able to steal sensitive data over the net, or would I still be safe as long as the app dont ask for explicit internet permission.

Ive also read posts from people saying that the fascinate does not run in dual channel but is still ipddr2. What exactly does this mean and is there any truth to it? I was thinking if its similar to how pc memory works it could be why the x is getting higher benchmarks or is this all nonsense?

As of now, I seem to be out of luck as to find a charger that will properly charge my phone when away from the normal means of charging. Has anyone used any portable batteries with their Droid? Right now, I have an APC Universal Battery 10WH and it doesn't charge my Droid at all. I am looking at the Just Mobile Gum Pro 4400mAh.
I have found that the Droids are very picky about where they get their charges from. I have a wall to usb and a car usb converter that doesn't work with mine or 3 other Moto Droids but will work with any other device that will charge via USB (iPod, GPS, other phones, etc.) Also, I have seen that the Minty Boost will charge the Droid, but their kits are backordered right now.

Sep 16, 2010after installing 2.2 on my hero, everything was working fine, until now. im having problems with my text messages, they wont send under sprints network, if i put it in roaming then they send right away, but roaming has awefully slow (1x) network speeds, but if i put it back to the 3g network speeds of sprint then everytime i try to send a text it just swirls in circles (the little thing next to the message) and wont send. is this sprints network being down? or does this have to do with the 2.2 update?i dont think its sprint because my mom and sister arent having any problems with there phones from the same plan. but i tryed restarting many times, taking out and leaving out the battery, putting it in airplane mode and turning that back off to reset connection, iv tryed everything and cant get it to work, so idk what to do, and i dont understand why if it was a software problem with the 2.2 installation, why would they send in roaming but not on sprints network?

Jul 5, 2010I have read a couple of threads that touched on this ring issue, but was unable to find any that had a solution or work around.Since the 2.1 update and the OTA update, many times when an incoming call comes, the phone doesn't ring. If I happen to be in front of the phone, I can see the screen change showing an incoming call.If I am listening to Pandora Radio, when the phone rings, Pandora stops, but the phone never rings.If I am not near or looking at the phone this results in missing the call.If I shut off the phone and re-boot it appears to ring fine, but at some point later in the day or week it will quit ringing.I normally never turn off the phone. Should I start to re-boot every day?

General :: What Little Envelope With Blue Arrow On Text Messages Means
Nov 9, 2011Sometimes when I send a message to someone I get a little envelope with a blue arrow on it. When it sends to the person, it's a green arrow, and when it doesn't send, it's a "text message not sent"
I don't think the message is received when the blue arrow appears.

Sep 10, 2010iv heard ppl who downloaded android 2.2 online and installed it themselves on there phone since its not being offered ota. but im wondering if its safe? the phone is not actually getting 2.2 ever, so doing this would be my own choice. but im wondering if it will run smoothly, better than 2.1 update 1, and if there will be any problems or if anything that may not work because of compatability problems with the phone. because some people have said that 2.2 isnt being released to the hero because the phone is not physically capeable of it do to software and hardware (such as space ram speeds etc.), and others have said they installed it themselves and it works fine, that its actually made to run using less space then 2.1 making it better.
