I am studying RIL and noticed RIL.java inplements CommandInterface twice( extend BaseCommand implement CommandInterface). What is it for? Any design pattern here?
I am developing a context aware mobile application. I need to have information about the capabilities of terminal devices and network characteristics such as current bandwidth. My question is, are there APIs in android to access this information?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI've created a simple OpenGL app and created a rendering class which implements GLSurfaceView.Renderer. All it does is draw 100 triangles (NUM_OBJECTS = 100) on the screen and move them about, bouncing off the edges. The projection is glOrtho2D and there is no z-buffer. I'm running this on a G1 with continuous redraw enabled.
Here is the onDrawFrame method:

I've been going over the android sdk for the past year to find out if there is a way to change the network type(2g/3g/4g), in phones with root access.However I couldn't find any way to do this.Asking around,someone told me that I could do this using reflection,by calling a method on a phone instance.Looking through the source code,I did find a setPrefferedNetworkType(); method in the Phone Interface,inside the internal telephony package.Is there anyway I can use this to solve my problem.I can't seem to find a way to get an instance of a class that implements the interface.Or is there any other way to do it entirely?

View 17 Replies View RelatedI was wondering what exactly SuperSU permission means. Does it means that if I grant a App SuperSU permission both at the install stage and later via the superSU rooted app, the app then have free hand to do anything on the device.I did a bit of research and ir does seem to be yhe case, wouldn't this be very dangerous to grant this permission to some less well know apps (ie not titanium backup calibre).
Although there is a separate permission for Internet access. Would an app with superSU be able to give itself stealth internet access and thus able to steal sensitive data over the net, or would I still be safe as long as the app dont ask for explicit internet permission.

Ive read a few comments around different forums stating the droid x has ipddr2 running in dual channel but can't find any concrete evidence of it. Ive also read posts from people saying that the fascinate does not run in dual channel but is still ipddr2. What exactly does this mean and is there any truth to it? I was thinking if its similar to how pc memory works it could be why the x is getting higher benchmarks or is this all nonsense?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am getting ready for a backpacking trip and taking my Droid along. As of now, I seem to be out of luck as to find a charger that will properly charge my phone when away from the normal means of charging. Has anyone used any portable batteries with their Droid? Right now, I have an APC Universal Battery 10WH and it doesn't charge my Droid at all. I am looking at the Just Mobile Gum Pro 4400mAh.
I have found that the Droids are very picky about where they get their charges from. I have a wall to usb and a car usb converter that doesn't work with mine or 3 other Moto Droids but will work with any other device that will charge via USB (iPod, GPS, other phones, etc.) Also, I have seen that the Minty Boost will charge the Droid, but their kits are backordered right now.

Sometimes when I send a message to someone I get a little envelope with a blue arrow on it. When it sends to the person, it's a green arrow, and when it doesn't send, it's a "text message not sent"
I don't think the message is received when the blue arrow appears.
Does anyone know what this error message means? It says this anytime I try any track through Mediascape! I can't play any music on my X10.

View 2 Replies View Related I just logged into my Verizon Online bill to check if my Google Voice settings are working.
I am seeing my cell number listed for a bunch of calls with the description "CL DELIVER"
Any idea what that means?
Since my number is showing up, I think it is being billed as Mobile to Mobile minutes, which are free, so it's not a big deal. Just wondering what it means.
Just found out what "unlimited" data means according to Verizon. If you don't know what I mean, have a look here: Verizon Droid Tethering Will Cost You - Business Center - PC World. Anyway, with a wifi connection established, is it safe to say that my Droid will not transfer data over the 3G connection so I don't have to worry about this, or do I have to turn the 3G off and loose the ability to send and receive calls to know for sure that I'm not risking racking up more fees?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm having some problems porting a Java application to work in Android platform. I detected an incompatibility problem between java sun and Adroid sdk in java.lang.Class. I oberved that: public Field[] getFields() Returns an array containing Field objects describing all fields which are defined. That's array is sorted as attributes are declared in the main Class in sun jdk. For example, next Class is defined as: public class Example { public boolean stop; public int atr1; public String name; ....
}
I do an import of the full package name / java file, and if I do a <classname>.<method>, SOMETIMES I can get it to access - other times I get a lot of can't use a static in a non static bunch of talk. I'll admit I'm new to Java, so what do I need to do? Call a class instance first, then call my methods? I'm rather confused by this, as I want to put all of my 'functions' into a FunctionsList.java file, and all of my main Activity (UI) into a MyActivity.java file.
For example:
<MyActivity.java>
import com.example.FunctionsList;
private class MyActivity extends Activity {
FunctionsList.function();
}
9/10 times I get that static/non-static error. If I put all of my functions into MyActivity.java, I have zero problems!
