Sprint HTC Hero :: Can't Send Text Messages Via GVoice / Change Default?

and it used to as how do you want to send the txt msg - through the phone's msg app or through google's GV app
well... I've clicked "set as default" (or was it "use this method from now on" - anyway, words to that effect) and now i can't change it!!
anyone know how to change the default?
(and before anyone says "menu" or "long press" - i've already tried it!!)
((also - I've already tried uninstall/reinstall GV from the mkt --- a few times))

Mar 14, 2010I just downloaded- Godzson oynxBluesdirt.zip icon+dailer and everythings there and looks great except that the browser is gone, and I love the default browser so will someone please help me to get it back.
NOTE- I already tried ~Settings>Applications>Browser and then click the button Clear Cache and Clear Data then reboot your phone.~

Media :: HTC Hero Notification - Get Text - Default Tone
Dec 15, 2009So, having lost my beloved G1 and having been told by my insurance that it was discontinued, I received an HTC Hero/G2 Touch in the post this morning, and I'm having serious issues with getting my custom notification tone to work.
I have placed the desired .mp3 file in media->audio->notifications, and it does indeed show up on my notification list in the settings menu. I have selected it, and it displays a lovely little green dot by its name.
HOWEVER. Every time I get a text, it still plays the stupid default tone. I've powered the phone on and off multiple times, deleted and re-copied the file, and yes, even tried applying it using the much-applauded Ringdroid app. The results are always the same. I can get it to show up. I can select it. I can, by all appearances, get it to set as my notification tone. But I can't make it sing "HAHAHAHA TRUMPETS" on cue as desired. I had no issue getting this same file to work on my G1 and am at a complete and utter loss.

Feb 9, 2010I have a coworker with an Iphone and one with a Droid and both can go to buzz.google.com but I cant on the Hero? I am thinking it has something to do with HTC web browser but not sure?Is there a way I can get the default browser on the Hero? Or just go to buzz.google.com?

I can both send and receive emails, but I'm having some issues getting notified and receiving messages consistently. I have my update settings set to every 30 minutes, but often I will check the client only to see that it hasn't been updated for hours. Also, sometimes when I get messages there won't be an email notification or an unread count on the widget.

Nov 11, 2009How do you change a default application for opening a file type. I am evaluating several programs for viewing my pictures. I had no default defined so that when I tapped a jpg file I got a popup menu asking which app I wanted to open it with. Someway or another I managed to check the box that says use this as the default and tapped the app before I could uncheck it. So now the built in picture viewer is set as the default and I would like to clear that so I get the popup box again.

Jan 4, 2010I switched from the default SMS to handscent SMS recently and I like everything but one little thing. When I get a text, two notifications appear in the top left corner. Once I answer the text, the handscent notification goes away, but the other mail notification will stay until I get another text message or clear all notifications. Is there a setting I have to change to only get one notification? Does this have anything to do with the fact that I had the popup message setting turned on so that every time I got a text a window popped up on my phone allowing me to answer the text much quicker than actually opening up Handscent messaging. Can anyone help me solve this problem? I just uninstalled it because of this reason, but if I can fix it, I would love to reinstall it and use it again.

Feb 17, 2010I see lots of threads about getting reminders to go off, but I cannot figure out how to set the default for new appointments to have NO reminder. I can make an appointment and go down to reminder, scroll up to "none," but when I go to set the default reminder in the calendar I am offered 5 minutes and less. I don't want reminders, and I would prefer to have it default to none every time rather than having to go the extra step to set it to none. Is there a way to change the default to no reminder? I have set up my google calendar online to have none, but when I enter an appointment in my calendar it won't allow that.

Oct 22, 2009I installed Handcent because of the battery drain issue, and like it a lot, but now I cannot turn off the OEM Messages program. I tried going into the Settings>Applications>Manage Applications to turn it off, and it doesn't work. I also did the "Use Handcent as default SMS" when that box first pops up. I get two different ringtone notifications too. Although I switched the ringer to the same one both through the phone's settings and through Handcent's settings.

Jun 18, 2010The problem - when viewing a webpage such as craigslist, if I click into an ad and then go back to the previous page my location on the previous page always defaults close to the top of the page instead of that last link I clicked. This is a very annoying problem if your a hardcore craigslist junkie like me because you can be you have to scroll back thru all of the ads you looked at just to get back to where you originally were.
Trying to fix the problem using two kinds of soft resets, a hard reset, resets followed by reinstallations of 2.1 ,etc etc, I finally went to a sprint store to get it checked out and the rep had a Hero that did the same damn thing! Apparently he didn't have a problem with his phone doing this because he just kept giving me some dumb blank stare.
1.5 never had a problem with web pages forgetting their locations when using the back button. Yet I haven't seen anybody else complain about this. Is anybody else able to recreate this problem? One thing to look for, after I reset the phone, reinstalled 2.1 or cleared the internet cache, the phone will do fine for a few minutes, recognizing pages like its supposed to, but after usually 4-6 times of clicking links the phone goes right back to forgetting locations.
I upgraded to 2.1. With 1.5 I had a phone I loved that worked fine and the only problem I had was a laggy phone-book, now I have a phone with a laggy dialer and that doesn't do web pages correctly. BTW, it does this with all browsers, not just the stock browser and Dolphin.
Sprint HTC Hero :: Bookmarks In Stock Browser Reverting Back To Default Ones?
Mar 20, 2010Anyone else have the problem of their bookmarks in the stock browser reverting back to the default ones? Twice in the last week I have lost all of my bookmarks on a phone power off and back on - I did not go in and clear any data or cache in the browser.
