I notice that if I use bluetooth headphones, I can only use them with the default music player, which is a big drag since it kind of blows. If I delete the music player in the adb shell, will that fix the problem so I can use a different music app?

The audio/music player on my HTC Hero locks up immediately when it starts. As a result I cannot preview any sounds or play any music unless I stream with pandora or something. I have installed another music player app, which is fine for music, but the default player remains the one that locks up, so if I click an audio file to preview it, that app comes up and locks. Is there a fix for this? Can I somehow set another 3rd party player as default?
View 2 Replies View RelatedBasically when connecting my phone to my car's aux in socket, the music player starts up & plays over whatever else is happening. As an example, if I want to listen to a podcast on Beyondpod, the moment it starts playing, the music player kicks in & plays whatever track was last being played. I use Taskiller to close it down but it's starts up again after a few mins or even seconds. It also occasionally dials the last number I called, just to really wind me up. It also occasionally does this when watching a video with headphones in.

Every time I unplug my headphones from phone, the music player launches and plays music through the speaker. I use the headphones to talk while I game, and am not running the music app, however it still chooses to open. Is there anyway I can prevent this?
View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen listening to music via the music player through headphones, any movement of the headphone input in the headphone jack causes tracks to FF it seems. i.e. If you spin the cord while in the jack, or even if you just push it in farther to see if it is fully seated tracks will FF. Not a showstopper, but I wanted to put this out there and see if anyone can reproduce this or is my phone just weird?

Shouldn't the phone's external speaker not be playing music while I'm using my headphones? Sometimes the external speaker will remain silent while my headphones are working (as I would imagine should be the case) until I receive a text message, and then the external speaker will play music along with the headphones. Anyone think this could be a problem with my device? My 30 day period expires on Sept.5 so I am wondering if I should return it for an exchange?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI just got a new 8gb memory card and want to dump a bunch of music to my Hero, but the music player seems lacking in many respects (functionally) despite looking nice (aesthetically). Has anyone tried other players that both work well and look stylish? sidenote - I was unable to format my memory card with it plugged into my network printer due to not having an adapter, but when the card is mounted and the hero is connected through usb it is reported as FAT32 in the open window. Do I need to worry about formatting? I wasn't sure if there would be any performance gain by doing so. Its a Transcend 8gb class 6.

Every time I receive a call when I hang up my phone automatically starts the music player and just starts playing songs. It's extremely annoying. I even deleted all my music off the phone hoping this would stop it, and now it just plays ring tones. I've used an app killer, etc. and it still does it.

I only ask as I think the current one that is default installed on the phone is poor, very poor. I use another app to play podcasts and even with the 'hide podcasts from default player' option ticked, they still show up in the music player.
Has anyone noticed that the stock music player isn't very good at shuffling music? I have my playlist set up, and want it to shuffle while I'm listening at work. It will shuffle, but the problem is that it won't play all the songs on my playlist. I have about 500 on this particular playlist, and in an 8 hour day I will hear the same song 3 or 4 times. In the 3 weeks I've been using it at work, there are some songs that I have *NVER* had come up on the shuffle. I tried turning on just shuffle and not repeat, but same thing. Is there a fix for this, or does anyone have recommendations on a music player that I can download that is better?
** Clarificaion: By "recommendation" I mean more than "Get Product X, it's cool". Why is it "cool"? What makes it better than the other products?
My native music player has started turning itself on at different times. I will get a triangle in my notification bar, open it and the music player is running and listed as ongoing. There is no stop button, only pause, and apparently backing out of the app does not turn it off. Should I look into a task killer for this?

Only issue I have is I seem to have lost the ability to set an mp3 as the ringtone. I do have some mp3's in the /media/audio/ringtones folder, but they don't show up in the ringtones list.

I found that 9/24 nightly made things lag when you have the music player running. i've never experienced so much lag until I used my music player. Just a heads up. Great battery life. Was charged at 67 last night and woke up this morning and I'm at 16 percent and the Battery Info says it's been off the charger for 12 hours. Imagine if I was at 100 percent instead of 67. That's with the collins battery tweak with kernal 14
9/13 didn't give me a lot of freezes and restarts, but lately it started. I'm assuming this is because of jit maybe?

View 5 Replies View RelatedEverytime my phone connects with my car stereo (Clarion FB275btb) it starts to stream music. It even tries to stream if the music player is closed. After I stop the music and and put the stereo into another mode it works fine. If I later get a call it acts normally, but after I end the call it starts to stream music again! Any ideas on what the problem might be? My stereo worked fine with my behold I and nokia 5310.

Soon after that, I could not receive text anymore. I did a hard reset on the phone and the memory was restored, but this is the only way I could get the memory to come back. Is there any way to restore the internal memory without doing a hard reset and loosing everything?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI'm afraid to root my phone and I understand that's the only way to get rid of the default music app on my captivate. If I can't get rid of it, is there a way to make it a lame duck and set another player as my default player.
Here's why:
I recently installed Playerpro which has all the features I need in a music player but when I press the headset buttons (which I need for my daily walks) it automatically starts my default music player, which I never use. Granted this may be in an issue with the app as Mixzing and others don't have this issue but is there anyway to set defaults on my droid.
Is it just me or the default music player is VERY SLOW to react. I mean, the phone isn't slow in any other respect, not even browsing the web. But the music player is very slow to react relatively. I have a 8GB SD card almost full of mp3 files but I don't think the mp3 player should feel sluggish after it had indexed all the tracks. Has anyone else noticed this? So far the mp3 player has been my only disappointment (not just because of this) with the Wildfire and I've been using it a couple of weeks.
