How to disable or turn off the default messanging application.I dont wont to totally uninstall it but as of right now Im getting double messages on hand cent and the default app.

How can I turn off the default incoming ringtone, but allow personal ringtones to continue to function? I would like to specify what specific calls will cause my phone to ring.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI installed Handcent because of the battery drain issue, and like it a lot, but now I cannot turn off the OEM Messages program. I tried going into the Settings>Applications>Manage Applications to turn it off, and it doesn't work. I also did the "Use Handcent as default SMS" when that box first pops up. I get two different ringtone notifications too. Although I switched the ringer to the same one both through the phone's settings and through Handcent's settings.

View 10 Replies View RelatedI was attempting to install the android sdk to my PC so i can push a file to my phone. i downloaded the android sdk from the website and unzipped it to my desktop. i ran the .exe setup from my desktop but i read somewhere that the folder was suppose to be put in the C: directory so i panic and canceled the installation process so now i think it partially installed. i went to my control panel and tried to uninstall but i didn't see any android or sdk program installed. anywhere know where else to look?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI am currently running DC1.0 and I installed an old version of spare parts from my SD using appInstaller then used aTrackDog to find a newer version and installed that over it. Well I had 2 spare parts installed and I installed one of them that was made in 2010, but the other one was apparently made in 2008 and I can't uninstall it. I even went as far as going into the recovery screen and using the wipe feature only to reboot and find the application STILL on the phone... I don't remember the application being installed with the rom so even then, I should be able to uninstall it after the wipe.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI REALLY need some assistance, think I screwed my phone, really want to avoid a hard wipe. I installed Lock bot the other day, has some issues with dual lock layers (i.e. the lock bot app wasn't disabling my HTC lock so I had two unlocks.). emailed dev and he sent me a beta version to hopefully correct issue. I only received an apk file from him. FYI I am on fresh 1.1, rooted. I used the kitchen to puch this file: "LockBotPro_1.10.0_beta.apk" to /system/app. The install went successfully, but later after a reboot I face a HUGE issue. The lock bot app is hanging upon reboot and will not unlock. At first I thought i would still be okay, I had ATK and Advanced Task manager both running at start up, so I can enter both of them through my notification drop down menu. I used both to kill the task-to no avail it is still locked. I tried to use advanced task manager to uninstall lock bot - to no avail, it cannot be removed. Then I tried to pull back the file through kitchen, to no avail.

Is it possible to uninstall the Facebook App for Android 2.2?
I'm new to Android. Just got a HTC Hero yesterday, with the latest update of 2.2.
A couple of questions I can seem to find answered anywhere.
1. I can't figure out how uninstall apps.
2. I can't figure out how to set apps to auto-upgrade or what the function is to update all simultaneously. i've seen screenshots from others phone showing the "update all" function in Market. But it doesn't exist in mine. I'm wondering if that's because it doesn't exist for the Hero?
I came to the conclusion that i have too many apps, lol. so i went to start deleting some of them through the market>my downloads, and uninstalling them one by one. I was just wondering if there is a way to mass uninstall these apps instead of one by one...?

It certainly seems like it is removed. But, when I go to the Market to try to reinstall it, it as listed as "installed" in the Downloads section. When I click on it, both the "Open" and "Uninstall" buttons are grayed out. So, I can't even reinstall it.
The app is Yellowbook (US Yellow Pages Search).
Is there some residual file on my phone that I might be able to delete with ES File Explorer or via adb?
Is there any way to remove pre-installed programs?
For example, the following programs were pre-installed:
Amazon MP3
Footprints
Teeter
And maybe some others.
I've just tried:
Settings | Applications | Manage Apps
And noticed there's not always an option to Uninstall on these and some others.
Is it possible to remove, delete, uninstall, or get them off the device?
Is there any way to remove the pre-installed Sprint programs?
Sprint TV
Sprint-Nextel
NFL
Nascar
Are there some "core apps" or "core programs" that can't be removed?
A brief search on this matter on related threads seems to indicate only on "rooted" phones.
I am trying to turn off the Sprint coverage and just enable wifi so I can do some VoIP testing. Is this possible?

NOTE- I already tried ~Settings>Applications>Browser and then click the button Clear Cache and Clear Data then reboot your phone.~

I can both send and receive emails, but I'm having some issues getting notified and receiving messages consistently. I have my update settings set to every 30 minutes, but often I will check the client only to see that it hasn't been updated for hours. Also, sometimes when I get messages there won't be an email notification or an unread count on the widget.

I had no default defined so that when I tapped a jpg file I got a popup menu asking which app I wanted to open it with. Someway or another I managed to check the box that says use this as the default and tapped the app before I could uncheck it. View 4 Replies View RelatedI switched from the default SMS to handscent SMS recently and I like everything but one little thing. When I get a text, two notifications appear in the top left corner. Once I answer the text, the handscent notification goes away, but the other mail notification will stay until I get another text message or clear all notifications. Is there a setting I have to change to only get one notification? Does this have anything to do with the fact that I had the popup message setting turned on so that every time I got a text a window popped up on my phone allowing me to answer the text much quicker than actually opening up Handscent messaging. Can anyone help me solve this problem? I just uninstalled it because of this reason, but if I can fix it, I would love to reinstall it and use it again.

I can make an appointment and go down to reminder, scroll up to "none," but when I go to set the default reminder in the calendar I am offered 5 minutes and less. I don't want reminders, and I would prefer to have it default to none every time rather than having to go the extra step to set it to none. Is there a way to change the default to no reminder? I have set up my google calendar online to have none, but when I enter an appointment in my calendar it won't allow that.
