Not sure if this is how it's intended to work, but when I try to search through my text messages (go in to Messages app, press the hard search button key), it only seems to search the last sent text for every thread (as opposed to the entire thread).

View 3 Replies View RelatedUpgrading my Sprint Hero to 2.1 has been a complete disaster. The one improvement is that the browsers work faster. Oh...and the menus are prettier and perhaps more intuitive.
The phone and just about every other function hangs, the phone locks up constantly - especially when entering and leaving email - and generally is unusable. I've been doing battery pulls 4+ times a day just to get the phone re-started when it locks up.
I work for a university and they got me a warranty replacement, which I've had for all of 8 hours. I can already tell that it's not as responsive as the previous Hero before I "upgraded" it. I'm just hoping it won't be as consistently laggy and non-responsive as the upgraded one.
My advice to anyone reading this thread - if your phone has not been upgraded to OS 2.1, DO NOT DO IT. Wait until a couple more updates are available...my experience has been completely bad.
Right now I can't wait for another update, hoping that it will resolve all the lag and hangup problems created by 2.1.
Back in the day when I used my compaq ipaq, I could change the function of the buttons on the face plate. Does anyone know if that is possible with the Hero or any other android phones?

I was on my main Home screen and just trying to figure stuff out and when I long press the menu key it brings up the onscreen keyboard. I figured it was for contact search or something, but it did nothing when I typed...or so I thought. Now everytime I back out to the Home screen a little transparent "window" displays with letters i first typed. I cant type new letters to display or even use the backspace key to erase. Any one know what Im talking about?

View 2 Replies View RelatedFor the life of me, I can't find a way to search for entries in my calendar other than manually swiping left or right while viewing the day in time grid format. This works of course but it has some obvious limitations. Now I can predict that someone will say, just use the Gmail Calendar. This is because calendar entries input into the Web Gmail Calendar show up in my HTC Hero calendar and the Gmail Calendar has a search option; i.e. so I could go to the Web, open the Gmail Calendar and search for the item there. This method works, of course, but it's kind of double the work and forces me to depend on the web instead of my HTC phone where I'd prefer to search directly inside the default Hero calendar application.

There are some questions:
I have all my contact and calendar info in Outlook 2003 and not in any online account. So I will only sync the phone with PC.
- can Outlook Contact fields like birthday and notes sync to People in the phone?
- user manual said I can search on Last Name, First Name in People. Can I search in the notes field?
- can I search for events in the Calendar? If so, can it search the whole database, or just up to X number of years in the past?
i want to do a search function from more than one table in alpabetical order

As a long-time Palm user, this was something that I used very regulary and I was surprised to find this feature missing ? it seems like it should be standard. Every computer/laptop has it in the form of either the Finder or Start/Search and a lot phones have it too. Anybody heard anything adding this one or anthing else relating to it? Or can you do this after you root?

Prior to this issue, when I used either of the search widgets as I typed it would populate search results below the search text box. For some reason now this isn't happening. When I search now I don't get the instant results. I have to submit the search, and it will display the google search results in a browser window.

It appears that the great search company that is Google did not put in a search function within the native Android Calendar (there is of course within online Google Calendar). I'm in People, then click Menu and the Search feature was right there; has it been moved or removed? 2. View 3 Replies View RelatedI use this button all the time on my DINC for voice commands, usually things like locate .... and it pops up google maps and shows me what I'm looking for. Since Bing is the search engine of choice on the Fascinate, what function will holding down the button serve? Will it still allow Google Voice commands? If not, I think that's a deal breaker for me.
