I have a rooted HTC Hero (Sprint), Fresh, Gumbo Kernel that runs wonderfully. Lateley however, my phone is not reading my sd card. Im unaware of the class, but it is an 8gb scan disk minisd. It has worked for over a year. I try to copy my information onto my desktop to reformat the sd, but it stops in the middle of the transfer. I have tried to find info on this issue, and I apologize if a thread has already been started.

View 5 Replies View Relatedhow to apply to lag fix by partitioning my sd card. I followed the guide to the t using Paragon Hard Disk Manager. When I deleted my external SD card partition, it wouldn't let me re-partition it. Now my computer won't even recognize my phone. When I go into settings->SD card and phone storage, both the internal and external SD card show "Unavailable" under the space heading. The unmount and format options are greyed out as well. What do I need to do to get my phone back the way it was? I would just like my phone back the way it was and would like to get this lag fix working. View 2 Replies View RelatedSo, I was having problems with my Hero not playing videos that were on the sd card, also having problems playing videos on the youtube app. So, I did a nand restore. I also did the restore because my phone was being laggy after installing the DB-OC kernel to speed up the phone. So, I nand restored back to before I flashed the kernel. So it is now running Aloysius 2.1 LWP non-OC. But, now all of a sudden my phone wont register my SD Card, at all. I run Dark Tremor app2sd, and can use some of my apps, while others just force close, or hang. I shut my phone off, and put in a different SD Card, to see if the phone was not registering it, instead of it being the card itself. The phone didn't register the other card.
So, I put in my original sd card after turning the phone off again, and it still isn't registering, and is force closing many apps. Does anyone know what to do in order to fix this? I have no idea why it even started having this problem registering the sd card, as it was reading it just fine earlier. I would do a complete wipe of the phone, and sd card, but am not sure if that will make the phone register the sd card again. When I put my sd card into my laptop, the laptop read it just fine. Please, someone, help me fix this problem! Should I wipe the phone, and sd card, and repartition the card? Or should I boot into recovery and select "wipe data/factory reset"+"wipe dalvik-cache"+"wipe SD:ext partition"?
Can you format the card while it's still in the phone and the phone is on? Not from recovery, but just by mounting the card and formatting it through your computer?
View 4 Replies View RelatedSo I've tried and tried again using RA and other linux based programs (GParted) to get my 8GB card to partition for apps2sd. Everything always runs smoothly and shows that the card is partitioned correctly. But then upon reboot the SD card shows full fat32 memory (6.9 GB). No matter what I do, after reboot, the partitions never happen. When I used GParted, and then loaded the SD card on the phone it always says that the SD card is damaged and I need to reformat. I've done that and rerun everything to no avail. Someone please tell me this issue is that the SD card is corrupted and I should give up. Because I've followed everything to a T as far as partitioning. With that I'll say that I had no problems rooting my phone, flashing ROM's/RA's, etc, and have been able to do whatever I want as far as new things to load. I've finally decided after all this time to do apps2sd, and I literally screwed around for 5+ hrs today, trying to partition the SD card properly. Any thoughts?

View 8 Replies View RelatedSo I was told by a Sprint rep that if the phone memory gets below about 80 MB then the phone will start to lag. Well I can't seem to delete enough stuff to get back above 80 MB available memory, I deleted pics, texts messages and various apps that I would have liked to keep. I started playing with my wife's phone which has more apps then mine, I checked her available phone memory and she has 102 MB!!! I can't figure out what I could have on my phone memory that would be taking up over 20 MB of space. Where can I look to try and figure this out? My wife's phone is very zippy and quick, while my phone waits forever when switching apps.
Also, How do I transfer pics I have taken on my phone to the SD card instead of using phone memory?

Like the title says why are apps allowed to read the contents of files on the SD card without asking permission? Apps have to ask to read SMS, Calendar, and everything else. It seems like a huge security hole to me.

I forgot to ask as well.I've searched online and the "chin" hero seems to have a little dent where you can prop it open. The Sprint Hero looks pretty solid... but I know you have to open it to replace the SD card so my question is how do I do it without ruining the molding?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI searched the Incredible forums and sub forums and could not find an answer to this question, though I am sure it has been asked: If I want to go from my stock 2 GB card to a new card, and I want to preserve data AND have all apps still be able to read whatever data they were reading off the card, do I just transfer the files from one card to the other? I bet the only thing I need to make sure of is that new card is formatted with the same file system as the original card, right? I know copying data from one card to the other will preserve data, but I want to make sure I have no problems with apps, either, after inserting the newer card.
View 7 Replies View Relatedi was avaible to swap pictures, music and everything between the 2...but now i took out my memory card from my old hd2 and put it in(hence its 16gb, and i didnt even use my hd2 for a day it was given to me so it has nothing crazy on it) and now when i plug in my vibrant, it dosent read the card for some reason, removable drive pops up, but it wont access it, i also saw this happen with someone elses vibrant, any advice?...and oh yea, i do press mount on the usb thing on the vibrant screen.

1) Is /sdcard/DCIM a standard of any kind? On the Android devices I've used, it looks like the default camera app always writes to this location. Are there devices where pictures are written to a different location? 2) Is it specified that camera JPEGs will always be accessible on the file system? (And not in some private database for example?)
I'm hoping that if the above two are true, then I can simplify my code by simply reading the jpeg's in /sdcard/dcim. Or do I have to use MediaStore.Images.Media.query() for reliable access to camera images?

I have read a couple of threads that touched on this ring issue, but was unable to find any that had a solution or work around.Since the 2.1 update and the OTA update, many times when an incoming call comes, the phone doesn't ring. If I happen to be in front of the phone, I can see the screen change showing an incoming call.If I am listening to Pandora Radio, when the phone rings, Pandora stops, but the phone never rings.If I am not near or looking at the phone this results in missing the call.If I shut off the phone and re-boot it appears to ring fine, but at some point later in the day or week it will quit ringing.I normally never turn off the phone. Should I start to re-boot every day?
