View 4 Replies1 can I root from 2.1 directly, if so what updat.zip do I use, and will I lose pinch zoom and media sorting. Will i lose any functions if rooted
View 2 Replies View RelatedPlain and simple, I'm sick of waiting around for Sprint to release a version of 2.1, I want the full android experience. That being said after reading through the root manuals and faqs I still am not sure if it can be done easily on a mac. I'm hoping someone might have some insight for me, or possibly an autorooter that is mac friendly.

../sudo ./adb devices
* daemon not running. starting it now on port 5037 *
* daemon started successfully *

i started with a stock N1 running unrooted froyo, then i unlocked the bootloader using the command "fastboot-windows oem unlock". i know that it is in fact unlocked because i see the open lock icon when the phone starts up now and i also see the **UNLOCKED** text in the bootloader menu. now I'm trying to use cyanogen's quick rooter (stock kernel) from here: Quick rooter for stock FroYo systems + 2.6.34 kernel - xda-developers. renamed it to update.zip (made sure it's not update.zip.zip), copied it to sdcard and I'm flashing it the same way i did the froyo update from the recovery menu but I'm getting an error saying signature verification failed. why would i still be getting this message after unlocking the bootloader?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI loved Fresh's Auto rooter through the kitchen. Is there a similar solution for phones that have stock 2.1 on them? How long does the manual process take? 60 minutes?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI passed all the root tests in Fresh Kitchen and am ready to root. It is not clear to me if I need to wipe (I have stock ROM, don't think I need to wipe from what I read but want to be sure).Don't know if I need to have SD card mounted before starting rooting process. This is unclear in everything I read.Don't know when and how the backup process is done, after the Root or before? The backup process is unclear also.Don't know what RA is? I see it referred to but can't figure it out.I watched the videos on Fresh Kitchen 1.0.5.3 and am still unclear on the questions above.Are there written instruction on how to use Fresh Kitchen 1.0.5.3 to Root?
