I use handcent, and that is my default messenger.Now, I have already turned off the notification for MMS/SMS in my sounds and notifications system settings, but it still pops up from the stock app.Why?I wouldn't mind it poping up, but when I click on it, it doesn't go away, I have to always use clear notifications, but anyways, yeah its turned off, and still doing it.

There's an icon in the notification bar that is shaped like the yellow away status icon for AIM in the IM app, and I'm not sure why it's up there. I've tried signing in, signing out, force stopping, and clearing data, but it won't go away. Any suggestions or help?
View 11 Replies View RelatedA few days ago the GPS notification icon started popping up at the top of my screen at random without me even running an app that requires GPS. I have tried to kill any app that potentially uses GPS with taskiller, disabling GPS all-together, and rebooting my phone to get it to go away. The only temporary solution I have found is to enter and then exit google maps. That works for a little while but then, bam, out of nowhere the little satellite icon appears again. I don't mind if it is just a little glitch and my GPS isn't actually being accessed, but if it is, that is a serious hit to my battery life. I haven't noticed a dramatic change in battery life since it started happening but I do seem to get less time out of the phone. Has anyone else had this problem and if so, is it a big deal and how do you fix it?

I think because its a HTC phone it is made with the black bar, but is their anyway to extract the APK from any other android phone if such a file exists and just install it on the Hero, I really prefer the white one.
View 3 Replies View Relatedi have the widget set up to where it is a scroll box of all my friends and stuff but on one of my friends, it has an icon on the bottom right hand corner of her pic and i dont like it. i always clicked on her name instead of the pic but is there a way to get rid of the icon? i tried removing the widget and replacing and it is still there. i hit menu and hit widget action but all it gives me is send message, view contact, etc and i dont want it to do any of that becuase the little icon ruins the pic.

I installed a few apps I used before and love Hancent SMS. With the Moment when I opened the on screen keyboard there was an icon on the keyboard for TTS, on the Hero I dont see that. Am I missing something? Do I do it differently?

Its cluttering my Programs page because there's double of like 25% of my apps. The only way I've been able to fix this is to uninstall and then install it again. Is there any way to fix this??

I was having issues with Gmail and switched to the official RUU and now have no microphone icon. That is an amazing feature! So how do I get it back? Diff keyboard or a feature I am missing? It looks like I cannot root anymore (for a while at least). Anyways just having the microphone icon would suffice I don't have to root per se.

I checked my phone this morning, I had 120 mb internal memory, and now im down to 2.26mb of memory. My phone gets warm, battery drains. Nothing is running! Has anybody seen or heard of this issue?

View 15 Replies View RelatedI think I messed my phone up trying to unroot it. When I hold down the "Home" and "Power" key to bring up the system menu it doesn't come up. What does come up is an exclamation triangle with a little phone underneath. I then have to do a battery pull and start it normally. I can, however, bring up the system wipe by holding down "Home", "Back Key", and "Power". I did the wipe and tried once again to bring up the system menu with no such luck. I've downloaded the Sprint RUU 1.56.6 and installed it onto my phone. It has been since this install that I couldn't access the system menu. Has it deleted it? What do I do?! I just want my phone the way it was when I got it.

Someone recommended "BetterCut" which I downloaded...it lets me change the icons for other shortcuts (which is great) but not for folders. I don't even mind navigating to this on the actual android device and replacing the original files with new ones - just someone please tell me how?

View 2 Replies View RelatedJust wanted to report a potential issue with the Sprint HTC Hero. Me and a few friends have experienced an issue where if you:
1) install an application
2) update it or uninstall and reinstall
3) reboot your phone
Then on many applications, the launcher icon will be messed up as well as the name of the application under the icon. In many of these cases, this renders the application unusable including Google Sky and Pandora. If you then uninstall these applications and reinstall them they will work fine until you reboot your phone again. The problem doesn't seem to exist if you install the application the first time. Only does it exist if you update it and reboot or if you uninstall/reinstall and reboot. There is a fairly lengthy thread on the Android Developers mailing list regarding this. Google seems to think it is unique to the Hero itself since a stock Android device (ie: G1) doesn't have this problem. Other developers are experiencing the same thing.
Can anyone confirm that the GPS icon will stay on the notification bar after an app using GPS has been closed?

Battery life has been just fine(And thats with the system at 100% lol), and the apps are amazing. But I have a question. I noticed there's two LED lights at the top of the phone. Yet I've only ever seen one light up! Is this how it is for everyone else? Only my left one lights up(green for texts, and amber for charging). And my friend's G1's Scroll Wheel also lights up, and was just wondering why ours doesn't.

First, is moving things I don't use from where they are. It is possible to move the Browser icon off the home page?
On the first tap to the right I have the music application, and I never use that. I would like to use that space for App icons. Can I move that?
Finally, two taps to the left is the calender. Can I move that?
Is it possible to hide just the notification icon without hiding the notification itself from pulldown?
Use case: Yahoo Weather app, the persistent notification in the pulldown is beautiful. I want it to always be there. However, the little temperature notification icon is pretty ugly, and I want to hide/disable it.
Using JB's "disable notifications" won't work since it will disable the entire notification, not just the icon.
should the voice mail icon have a number on it like the email or text icons if you get a new voicemail? If I get a notification, it only shows up on the task bar. I was also experiencing not recieving texts. I have since done a reset which fixed the text issue (and sleep-for now), but not the voicemail. Should I take the phone back? I fear its anotjer software bug, not hardware. I love this phone, but I'm getting very annoyed that it can't even do what its suppose to.
