Dec 14, 2009When im texting someone, it stays in threading mode, which is fine. When i hit home or whatever to get out of messaging, whenever i get another text, lets say its from another person. I can pull down my notification bar, click the new text, and it just opens up the text i was last in. I think its weird how it wont open the next text message, possibly because the app was running in the background the whole time?

Dec 5, 2009I'm pretty sure this is not a hardware issue...
If I hard-reset my phone, the compass will work flawlessly for about 3-5 days. After that it fails to function. It stays locked in one position and if it does move it is VERY sparatic.
This has been tested with multiple compass apps as well as any of the "augmented" reality apps (sky maps, Layer, etc)
This has happened with both COMPLETELY factory un-rooted phone as well as now that I'm rooted running Madoco Unofficial 1.2c.
If I do a hard reset it works fine. Its not any particular app doing it either. I've tested that theory.
Motorola Droid :: Closing Browser - Satellite Icon In Status Bar Stays On
Mar 3, 2010Just started having this problem after rooting. Now if I get on my browser (stock) and then close out when I am done and go to home or put the phone to sleep the little satellite dish looking icon in the status bar stays on. I think this is GPS. Anyway if I close all the windows I have running on my browser it doesn't matter because a new one always opens as my home page google. The only way to avoid the little icon staying on and severely draining my battery is to close all windows in the browser and hurry to push the home soft key before the google page completely loads. What can I do here?

Nov 22, 2010since the latest stable, and now the 133 full, it seems like 5 or 6 times a day im getting LPP force closes. Anyone else getting this or know of a way to fix this? Could there be something Im doing to cause this? Just to clarify, it happens when trying to hit an icon, as well as when trying to close an app with the back button. In the past, I have hit the home button to exit out, but since made an attempt to change my habits, as it seems hitting home keeps the app running.

May 14, 2010So i partitioned my SD card per the instructions listed on Flipz site and it was working flawlessly! I couldn't believe it! Then I had to reboot, and that's when the Force Closes started and the phone started dragging like a dog. I'm using a Class 2 card, so that may explain the lag, but why the FCs?
I'm hoping I'm still able to use Apps2SD successfully and that a wipe/restore will fix this, because there just isn't a lot of internal memory to play with.
Fresh 2.1 is out now though, so I may just say screw it and start new. I just don't want to have to set the phone up again and reinstall apps.
Sprint HTC Hero :: Application Force Close After Updating
Nov 6, 2009I have noticed several times that after updating an application in the Market, the app will never work again. This has happened with Pandora, Key Ring Finder, Audio Manager and countless other apps. With some other apps, after updating the application, it will work fine, but the name will change to something odd like com.chompsms.Well, i was reading through Key Ring Finder update and realized that something is occuring specifically with the HTC Hero that is causing this with application updates.But there is a ::drum roll please:: workaround! When updating an app, do not select the 'update' option! This is where the programs become corrupt. Instead, click 'uninstall', then reinstall the application. The freshly installed copy will work perfectly!

May 22, 2010So I did the upgrade at home, no problem, then loaded My Back up from the market, and reloaded my apps and data from my SD card. I got all the way to load HTC home (109 items). At item 107, force closed pops up. Now when it goes to load the home page it's an endless cyle of forced closed.
Took it to the Sprint store, nothing they can do but reload the 2.1, come back in 2 hours . I do, go home and run threw all these steps again, but this time without loading the task killer app (store recomendation). Same results!
Sprint HTC Hero :: Fresh 2.3.3 Inbound Calls Force Close
Jul 22, 2010I have seen people complaining of the same issue, but I have yet to find a fix. I just flashed Fresh Hero 2.3.3 and every inbound call force closes. I came from a clean root, I flashed the stock RUU and rooted and then flashed Fresh. I have tried all the kernels they say fix this and none do. Any ideas? Or should I give up v2.3.3 and go back to Toast? Don't want to leave Fresh, it's the best ROM I have found yet!

Dec 22, 2009I am getting a forced close error everytime I try to remove the HTC Messaging widget from one of my screens. I tap and hold down on the widget to select it so I can move it to the "remove" button at the bottom of the screen. Well when I tap and hold I get a forced error close message. Jan 2, 2010I have had a Sprint HTC Hero for a while and I absolutely love it, but when my messages get over only a couple 100 or even less, I will be sending a message or reading one and the messages app will force close and then when I come back to my messages, they are all deleted. I also often have to restart the phone just to get the messages to work again. At first I just thought of this as a way the hero refreshes itself, but I have been missing things and losing messages all the time lately and it is bothering me.

Does it just show you the address or does it try to bring up maps or something like it to actually SHOW you the address? If so, that's why, because i removed all that garbage. Running Fresh 2.1.2.
Sprint HTC Hero :: People - Contacts List With Facebook-Force Close
Dec 30, 2009I have to say that this default Application is truly simple and easy to deal with, and that makes it all the more significant in my view. However, I am running into an odd problem, and I would like to see if anyone has had the same experience, and/or could offer their assistance in this matter.
I have linked all of my contacts to their FB profiles, and all seems to work extremely well. However, for reasons beyond my understanding, when I attempt to click on the "Album" icon (To view the photographs of a FB Friend), this App. always makes me go through a "Force Close". This ONLY happens with ONE of my contacts though, as with every other contact I still retain the ability to view their FB Photo Albums. I was thinking that the one contact in question here, possibly has too many photographs for this App. to handle(?), but I can get it to work on a very rare occasion despite such.
I would really like to hear from folks in regard to this issue, because it's puzzling, and somewhat irritating.
I have rebooted, and I have also taken the particular FB profile off of my contact list, and then re-applied it (All to no avail).

Nov 22, 2009Just tried to delete a messages thread in the stock sms app that was 480 messages long. It was one thread of about 15 that were saved in my phone from people I communicate with on a regular basis. The phone froze up for about a minute, then message force closed. Opening up the messages app again reveals All of my threads have been wiped clean.

Jun 30, 2010i have the widget set up to where it is a scroll box of all my friends and stuff but on one of my friends, it has an icon on the bottom right hand corner of her pic and i dont like it. i always clicked on her name instead of the pic but is there a way to get rid of the icon? i tried removing the widget and replacing and it is still there. i hit menu and hit widget action but all it gives me is send message, view contact, etc and i dont want it to do any of that becuase the little icon ruins the pic.

I installed a few apps I used before and love Hancent SMS. With the Moment when I opened the on screen keyboard there was an icon on the keyboard for TTS, on the Hero I dont see that. Am I missing something? Do I do it differently?

I downloaded the Advanced App Killer to close that when I'm done listening to songs. I like having the widget, but maybe there's another app out there (with a widget) that can be used in place of the preloaded one, that will actually STOP, instead of just pause?
Pandora does it too, but I think there is a setting that shuts it off after a certain amount of time being paused...

Mar 4, 2010I use handcent, and that is my default messenger.Now, I have already turned off the notification for MMS/SMS in my sounds and notifications system settings, but it still pops up from the stock app.Why?I wouldn't mind it poping up, but when I click on it, it doesn't go away, I have to always use clear notifications, but anyways, yeah its turned off, and still doing it.
