There's an icon in the notification bar that is shaped like the yellow away status icon for AIM in the IM app, and I'm not sure why it's up there. I've tried signing in, signing out, force stopping, and clearing data, but it won't go away. Any suggestions or help?
View 11 Replies View RelatedI've been dealing with this for quite a while - I'm finally just getting fed up with it to the point where I'm actually doing something about it. I use GV exclusively probably half of the entries in my phone history appear as "unknown". Its also hit-or-miss if the contact's name appears when i dial out or when they're ringing in. Also, when me and another contact call each other back and forth several times, sometimes their info appears, sometimes they appear as "(unknown)" -- its baffling me.

PROBLEM: Even in areas that I know I have great Sprint coverage, my phone is not connecting to the network and I have no phone signal - "No Service". (WiFi works fine.)
This is the second time this has happened. The last time was last week - I had just installed about 5 new apps (games), rebooted the phone, and I had "No Service". I uninstalled the new apps, rebooted, and service was regained.
Tonight, I didnt install anything NEW, but a handful of apps had updates (Where, Twidroid, Voice Recorder, TWiT.tv, Depth of Field Calculator.)
Actually, now that I think of it, that was my first reboot since I installed ShopSavvy.
I'll uninstall ShopSavvy and Voice Recorder - I dont use the recorder at all - and see where that gets me. But does anyone else have this problem, or am I the only lucky one?
i have the widget set up to where it is a scroll box of all my friends and stuff but on one of my friends, it has an icon on the bottom right hand corner of her pic and i dont like it. i always clicked on her name instead of the pic but is there a way to get rid of the icon? i tried removing the widget and replacing and it is still there. i hit menu and hit widget action but all it gives me is send message, view contact, etc and i dont want it to do any of that becuase the little icon ruins the pic.
View 3 Replies View RelatedIm sure this is something simple Im missing, I recently swapped my moment for a new hero thru sprint. I love the phone and should have gotten it sooner. I installed a few apps I used before and love Hancent SMS. With the Moment when I opened the on screen keyboard there was an icon on the keyboard for TTS, on the Hero I dont see that. Am I missing something? Do I do it differently?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI use handcent, and that is my default messenger.Now, I have already turned off the notification for MMS/SMS in my sounds and notifications system settings, but it still pops up from the stock app.Why?I wouldn't mind it poping up, but when I click on it, it doesn't go away, I have to always use clear notifications, but anyways, yeah its turned off, and still doing it.

Its cluttering my Programs page because there's double of like 25% of my apps. The only way I've been able to fix this is to uninstall and then install it again. Is there any way to fix this??
View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen I rooted to 2.1 I had a microphone by the gear. I also notice a microphone on the Evo. I was having issues with Gmail and switched to the official RUU and now have no microphone icon. That is an amazing feature! So how do I get it back? Diff keyboard or a feature I am missing? It looks like I cannot root anymore (for a while at least). Anyways just having the microphone icon would suffice I don't have to root per se.

View 4 Replies View RelatedAll of the sudden, im getting the low storage space icon above. This has happened 2 other times. I do a hard reset when that happens. I checked my phone this morning, I had 120 mb internal memory, and now im down to 2.26mb of memory. My phone gets warm, battery drains. Nothing is running! Has anybody seen or heard of this issue?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI recently updated the handcent messaging app and after a few soft resets the icon on the home screen is gone. the name is there and a grey X. if i reinstall the app it reappears but it takes too much time to keep redoing my settings. anyone else notice that? it happened twice after about 8 soft resets.
View 15 Replies View RelatedI think I messed my phone up trying to unroot it. When I hold down the "Home" and "Power" key to bring up the system menu it doesn't come up. What does come up is an exclamation triangle with a little phone underneath. I then have to do a battery pull and start it normally. I can, however, bring up the system wipe by holding down "Home", "Back Key", and "Power". I did the wipe and tried once again to bring up the system menu with no such luck. I've downloaded the Sprint RUU 1.56.6 and installed it onto my phone. It has been since this install that I couldn't access the system menu. Has it deleted it? What do I do?! I just want my phone the way it was when I got it.

Someone recommended "BetterCut" which I downloaded...it lets me change the icons for other shortcuts (which is great) but not for folders. I don't even mind navigating to this on the actual android device and replacing the original files with new ones - just someone please tell me how?

View 2 Replies View RelatedJust wanted to report a potential issue with the Sprint HTC Hero. Me and a few friends have experienced an issue where if you:
1) install an application
2) update it or uninstall and reinstall
3) reboot your phone
Then on many applications, the launcher icon will be messed up as well as the name of the application under the icon. In many of these cases, this renders the application unusable including Google Sky and Pandora. If you then uninstall these applications and reinstall them they will work fine until you reboot your phone again. The problem doesn't seem to exist if you install the application the first time. Only does it exist if you update it and reboot or if you uninstall/reinstall and reboot. There is a fairly lengthy thread on the Android Developers mailing list regarding this. Google seems to think it is unique to the Hero itself since a stock Android device (ie: G1) doesn't have this problem. Other developers are experiencing the same thing.
Can anyone confirm that the GPS icon will stay on the notification bar after an app using GPS has been closed?

First, is moving things I don't use from where they are. It is possible to move the Browser icon off the home page?
On the first tap to the right I have the music application, and I never use that. I would like to use that space for App icons. Can I move that?
Finally, two taps to the left is the calender. Can I move that?
A few days ago the GPS notification icon started popping up at the top of my screen at random without me even running an app that requires GPS. I have tried to kill any app that potentially uses GPS with taskiller, disabling GPS all-together, and rebooting my phone to get it to go away. The only temporary solution I have found is to enter and then exit google maps. That works for a little while but then, bam, out of nowhere the little satellite icon appears again. I don't mind if it is just a little glitch and my GPS isn't actually being accessed, but if it is, that is a serious hit to my battery life. I haven't noticed a dramatic change in battery life since it started happening but I do seem to get less time out of the phone. Has anyone else had this problem and if so, is it a big deal and how do you fix it?
View 6 Replies View Relatedshould the voice mail icon have a number on it like the email or text icons if you get a new voicemail? If I get a notification, it only shows up on the task bar. I was also experiencing not recieving texts. I have since done a reset which fixed the text issue (and sleep-for now), but not the voicemail. Should I take the phone back? I fear its anotjer software bug, not hardware. I love this phone, but I'm getting very annoyed that it can't even do what its suppose to.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have an Orange branded Hero and just tried to upgrade from build 2.73.61.5 (Firmware 1.5) to ROM Version:2.73.61.66 as I believe this is necessary in order to get the latest version of Android (2.1). Right at the start of the upgrade process I get an error message saying
Error [155] unknown error. The ROM Update Utility cannot update your Android phone. Please get the correct ROM Update Utility and try again. I rang Orange and they couldn't help. I managed to speak to someone who understood the information I was telling him but he was not able to help other than do a Google search whilst I was on the phone to him. The suggestion was that the internal phone storage is insufficient to handle the 103MB image size of the upgrade file. I have now deleted all my apps (after backing them up) and have 123MB internal phone storage available space which should easily be enough but I'm still getting the error.
Recently I've been getting a lot of calls from 'UNKNOWN' at stupid O'clock in the morning. Is there a way of doing any of the following...
a) set the phone so that calls from UNKNOWN get sent directly to voicemail.
b) set the phone so that calls from numbers *NOT* in my contact list get sent directly to voicemail.
c) set the ringtone for 'UNKNOWN'.
d) set the ringtone for numbers NOT in my contacts.
If someone is unwilling to reveal their phone number then they don't deserve my attention, especially at 8.30am in the morning and extra especially on a Saturday.
I am syncing my contacts with Exchange. My contacts within Exchange are proper - everything looks good within my Outlook contacts, and they sync fine to my phone.
However when someone calls me that is stored within my phone, their name comes across as Unknown. Anyone have any ideas how to get my phone to handle contacts better?
