I linked almost everyone in my contacts to their facebook profiles, but since updating the pictures never change to their new profile pictures. Anyway to fix this? Also their birthdays and other information don't sync with facebook anymore.

Ok, so you can link your friends facebook to a contact, and have their facebook picture as their contact picture. None of my friends contact picture has changed on my phone, even though a lot of them have changed their profile picture on facebook. Is there a way to refresh this somehow? FB is set to sync every few hours, and I've manually done it and no dice.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI was reading a previous thread about blury contact pictures so I thought I would try to assign pictures to some of my contacts. I looked up the instructions in Gmail Help and they refer to a picture section in Contacts. The problem is I do not see any reference to pictures in either new or existing contacts or edits. Am I missing something or do I have a old version of Gmail if there is such a thing?

View 14 Replies View RelatedUnfortunately, when you link the Facebook contacts to your device it will save their picture that you had when you first linked the contacts to your Gmail.You would have to delete them and re-add them if you want to change the pictures.
View 18 Replies View RelatedThanks to some advice you have given me I am now running CM6 and love it.I have had almost no problems getting everything set up and working except for one intermittent problem.Facebook syncing with my contacts.Some contacts sync, others do not. And there names are matching Facebook. I know in Sense you can search and link. Is there something I'm missing?I've dug through settings and can't find anything to link or sync the existing contacts that didn't link up.

View 4 Replies View Relatedi just updated to 2.1 and i imported my gmail contacts but since my facebook account is added to it decided to add facebook contacts..i keep trying to delete my contacts but it says too much even when i delete a couple at a time i keep deleting all of them then i import from my backup contacts on sd and it still brings me my fb ones somehow even though they arent on there Google contact sync doesnt sync anything at all its broken i just want my google contacts synced not my facebook contacts there are soem more random facebook contacts that it wont let me delete in my contacts and they dont show up in all contacts.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI just rooted my phone and loaded a 2.1 ROM (Damage Control v2.08). Everything seems to be working great. I went into my contacts (reloaded through MS Exchange) and noticed that some of the Facebook photos were auto linked to a contact, but some were not. I am guessing the ones that did not do not have a name that matches exactly did not load.With the stock phone, I was able to manually select the Facebook friend I wanted to associate with my contact and it added the picture.With 2.1, when I try to manually select a Facebook contact through "Link Facebook Profile", the screen doesn't list anyone to choose from.It is just blank and says "no matches found".Has anyone else had this problem? I'm trying to figure out how to manually link people. I can log into Facebook with no problem and everything there seems to work.

Ever since Facebook released its newest version my contact storage has sky rocketed. i only have 137 contacts, i orginally had all my facebook contacts synced, after the update they remained in the contact list but i lost the ability to view the contact picture or link it to a contact. i set the app to sync only phone contacts yet it keeps adding duplicate contacts and contact information. for example i have some contacts that now have 8 to 10 entries or i will have one contact their information like organization or email have multiple entries. ive cleared the data several times and even set it not to sync and it seems to continue to happen. is anyone having these issues or knows of a work around? at this point im relegated to hard reset and start from scratch? my phone isn't rooted but im willing to root if their is a work around that way?

HOWEVER now they do not update. for e.g when they update their profile pic on facebook. my desire wont update it to their contact info on my desire. i have syncing automatically and manually through settings...but no luck. what am i doing wrong?

If your facebook contact has changed their picture and you want to update it on your phone, go to People > Online Directory > Facebook > Click refresh. It updates everyones pictures so it may take a while if you have a lot of contacts.

I'd like to use those pictures within my app where I access Contacts Contract. Phone Lookup. Do I really need the Facebook SDK to do that? I figured out how to get the picture from the phone to be the one used for the contacts, but three of them keep reverting to the facebook pictures and I can't figure out why.

I have a problem with Facebook application (not Facebook for HTC Sense - I want to avoid using this one) and the way it syncs peoples' pictures in the contact list. The problem is that some of the pictures are missing. I know for sure these persons have profile pictures set, but for some reason my Facebook app doesn't sync them. I double checked the "Link" menu, it shows that the phone book entry is indeed linked with a facebook account. The picture dropdown list also shows an empty person outline next to "Facebook".
I'm using Virtuous Affinity ROM 2.05 on HTC T-Mobile G2.
just a minor inconvenience: I used to have my phone set to sync with google, which alerted me every time I received an email. I then found out that google sync was causing an issue with my contact pictures, taking them from facebook and resizing them. it caused them to looked pixelated or "zoomed in" in hilli billy terms. So now I have it set to never sync with google. So now I never receive a notification when I receive an email. Anyone know a way I can set it to sync only to gmail and not sync the contacts? I don't really need to sync them anyway, as I have backup assistant for that purpose.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm not technically inclined to develop a xposed module, but was using the 8sms app. I loved it since it mixes stock sms with cyanogenmod, but doesn't display FB contact pictures , only googles or contacts on your phone who you've added a picture for. Is there any way a xposed module could be developed to enable 8sms to pull contact pictures from fb? Not necessarily a request as far as throwing it out there and gauging community feedback (although, yeah, this would free many of us from samsungs sms app and make 8sms more appealing). What do you think? Is this possible to do?
I should probably add I'm on android 4.2.2, stock Galaxy s4 for t-mobile and rooted. And yes, I'd flash cyanogenmod but I do need t-mobiles wifi calling do to zero coverage at home.
I've searched for threads/answers about this issue but I haven't found any...and I'm a noob to the forum (and 2.1) so bear with me / don't eat me alive.
I enjoyed the Facebook syncing on 1.5, but I don't really have any interest in bringing over my Facebook contact photos as caller ID pictures (it's annoying when someone posts a picture of a car, for example, as their default picture -- my friend is not a Toyota). I do like seeing status updates in my People app and having access to a unified "updates" panel in People.
I've gone into the "link" settings and changed the photo manually to the Google Contacts photo that I specified, and that works fantastically -- until Facebook for HTC Sense does its hourly sync and overwrites that preference with the contact's default Facebook picture AGAIN.
I've tried syncing, un-syncing, removing the sync option, etc. in the past 2 leaks and this problem remains. Am I missing something or is this just another annoying beta bug that HOPEFULLY will be gone in OTA?
1. How do I search for a contact from the people list? I don't want to have to scroll through all of them, but I don't see a search button other than the global search, and that does not seem to pull up contacts.
2. How do I get the facebook pictures on my contacts? I did the sync with Facebook, but it did not bring the pictures over, just the data.available in LauncherPro
Does the synced Facebook contact pictures still show up blurry, or are the crisp like in 1.5? I haven't seen a thread about this so I thought I would ask.

So here is my question, under Menu>Settings>Social Network> Facebook appears there. I have that set to update every 12 hours.
HOWEVER, my actual Facebook App is set to update every 2 hours.
So... does the settings under Menu>Settings>Social Network>Facebook control my facebook app or just the bookmark that comes pre-installed on the phone?
I am trying to save battery life, and I noticed that the settings under Menu>Settings>Social Network>Facebook were set to update every hour, but I had the settings under the downloaded app to update every two hours. My goal is to have only one facebook medium updating so I don't drain battery life!
I don't know how to update apps using the Marketplace because the App link was now replaced by Sprint link in the Marketplace. Anyone else know how to update all apps that I've downloaded without having to search each app in the Marketplace?
