HTC Hero :: Way To Sync Facebook Contact Pictures?
Sep 25, 2010Is there a way to sync my Facebook contact pictures (so that their Facebook profile pic shows up as their picture in my phone book) but not sync their contact info?

Android :: Google Sync Taking Contact Pictures From Facebook?
Jul 30, 2010just a minor inconvenience: I used to have my phone set to sync with google, which alerted me every time I received an email. I then found out that google sync was causing an issue with my contact pictures, taking them from facebook and resizing them. it caused them to looked pixelated or "zoomed in" in hilli billy terms. So now I have it set to never sync with google. So now I never receive a notification when I receive an email. Anyone know a way I can set it to sync only to gmail and not sync the contacts? I don't really need to sync them anyway, as I have backup assistant for that purpose.

Aug 5, 2010I linked almost everyone in my contacts to their facebook profiles, but since updating the pictures never change to their new profile pictures. Anyway to fix this? Also their birthdays and other information don't sync with facebook anymore.

Nov 14, 2010Thanks to some advice you have given me I am now running CM6 and love it.I have had almost no problems getting everything set up and working except for one intermittent problem.Facebook syncing with my contacts.Some contacts sync, others do not. And there names are matching Facebook. I know in Sense you can search and link. Is there something I'm missing?I've dug through settings and can't find anything to link or sync the existing contacts that didn't link up.

May 21, 2010i just updated to 2.1 and i imported my gmail contacts but since my facebook account is added to it decided to add facebook contacts..i keep trying to delete my contacts but it says too much even when i delete a couple at a time i keep deleting all of them then i import from my backup contacts on sd and it still brings me my fb ones somehow even though they arent on there Google contact sync doesnt sync anything at all its broken i just want my google contacts synced not my facebook contacts there are soem more random facebook contacts that it wont let me delete in my contacts and they dont show up in all contacts.

May 8, 2010I just rooted my phone and loaded a 2.1 ROM (Damage Control v2.08). Everything seems to be working great. I went into my contacts (reloaded through MS Exchange) and noticed that some of the Facebook photos were auto linked to a contact, but some were not. I am guessing the ones that did not do not have a name that matches exactly did not load.With the stock phone, I was able to manually select the Facebook friend I wanted to associate with my contact and it added the picture.With 2.1, when I try to manually select a Facebook contact through "Link Facebook Profile", the screen doesn't list anyone to choose from.It is just blank and says "no matches found".Has anyone else had this problem? I'm trying to figure out how to manually link people. I can log into Facebook with no problem and everything there seems to work.

Ever since Facebook released its newest version my contact storage has sky rocketed. i only have 137 contacts, i orginally had all my facebook contacts synced, after the update they remained in the contact list but i lost the ability to view the contact picture or link it to a contact. i set the app to sync only phone contacts yet it keeps adding duplicate contacts and contact information. for example i have some contacts that now have 8 to 10 entries or i will have one contact their information like organization or email have multiple entries. ive cleared the data several times and even set it not to sync and it seems to continue to happen. is anyone having these issues or knows of a work around? at this point im relegated to hard reset and start from scratch? my phone isn't rooted but im willing to root if their is a work around that way?

Jul 1, 2010I'm not sure if anyone has already figured this out but I just did it by accident a few minutes ago. If your facebook contact has changed their picture and you want to update it on your phone, go to People > Online Directory > Facebook > Click refresh. It updates everyones pictures so it may take a while if you have a lot of contacts.

None of my friends contact picture has changed on my phone, even though a lot of them have changed their profile picture on facebook. Is there a way to refresh this somehow? FB is set to sync every few hours, and I've manually done it and no dice.

I figured out how to get the picture from the phone to be the one used for the contacts, but three of them keep reverting to the facebook pictures and I can't figure out why.

General :: HTC Sense Facebook Contact Pictures Missing?
Feb 21, 2012I have a problem with Facebook application (not Facebook for HTC Sense - I want to avoid using this one) and the way it syncs peoples' pictures in the contact list. The problem is that some of the pictures are missing. I know for sure these persons have profile pictures set, but for some reason my Facebook app doesn't sync them. I double checked the "Link" menu, it shows that the phone book entry is indeed linked with a facebook account. The picture dropdown list also shows an empty person outline next to "Facebook".
I'm using Virtuous Affinity ROM 2.05 on HTC T-Mobile G2.

Sep 30, 2010I just got my droid incredible. Seems like a decent phone but for some reason my facebook pics won't sync with the comparable contacts. On my old blackberry this was automatic but for some reason it won't work on this phone. Also do you guys leave your fb signed in all the time? I don't mind leaving it like this but I'm wndering if it will always how me as being on fb if i'm always signed in from my phone.

Jan 19, 2014I'm not technically inclined to develop a xposed module, but was using the 8sms app. I loved it since it mixes stock sms with cyanogenmod, but doesn't display FB contact pictures , only googles or contacts on your phone who you've added a picture for. Is there any way a xposed module could be developed to enable 8sms to pull contact pictures from fb? Not necessarily a request as far as throwing it out there and gauging community feedback (although, yeah, this would free many of us from samsungs sms app and make 8sms more appealing). What do you think? Is this possible to do?
I should probably add I'm on android 4.2.2, stock Galaxy s4 for t-mobile and rooted. And yes, I'd flash cyanogenmod but I do need t-mobiles wifi calling do to zero coverage at home.

May 1, 2010I've searched for threads/answers about this issue but I haven't found any...and I'm a noob to the forum (and 2.1) so bear with me / don't eat me alive.
I enjoyed the Facebook syncing on 1.5, but I don't really have any interest in bringing over my Facebook contact photos as caller ID pictures (it's annoying when someone posts a picture of a car, for example, as their default picture -- my friend is not a Toyota). I do like seeing status updates in my People app and having access to a unified "updates" panel in People.
I've gone into the "link" settings and changed the photo manually to the Google Contacts photo that I specified, and that works fantastically -- until Facebook for HTC Sense does its hourly sync and overwrites that preference with the contact's default Facebook picture AGAIN.
I've tried syncing, un-syncing, removing the sync option, etc. in the past 2 leaks and this problem remains. Am I missing something or is this just another annoying beta bug that HOPEFULLY will be gone in OTA?

Jul 19, 2010Using the FaceBook (FB) app on the EVO 4G is a great feature. Allows you to get numbers of your friends on FB without being in your contact list. Has their FB picture show up when they call etc.
Problem:
Cannot save numbers in my contacts if sync'd with FB.
Example: Friend gives me her number (that I currently do NOT have in my contacts)
I dial her number, it comes up with her name and her FB picture (because she has her mobile number linked to her FB account).
Now I cannot save this number to my contacts from call history because it shows up as if it is already there. I can dial her number again then hit add contact and that works just curious if there is a way to do it from text's or call history so I don't have to keep re-typing the number just to save it.

Jan 28, 2013Contact Sync for Facebook got an update to 1.0.2 which adds StartApp and stuff which can read/write your browser history/bookmarks, I failed to read the "what's new part" and didn't notice the new permissions for accessing of the browser history. Therefore I would like to go back to the version 1.0.1 but for some reason I can't find the APK to download somewhere.

Jun 30, 2010I emailed HTC regarding my Favorites widget, which has my friends FB sync to it, the pictures don'st update when a friends change there pic, EVER. Even my Facebook profile which is linked to my phone, I have the same picture showing up from 3 weeks ago, and I changed my pic 2 weeks ago lol. Also it doesn't center the picture, my friends heads are cut off too, smh.
Also just for reference, I have an HD2, it comes with the same favorite widget (called 'People') and it auto updates perfectly AND centers the picture too. Anyways here is the response:
