View 9 Replies View RelatedI am running rooted incredible with 2.x radio, and virtuous' 2.2 ROM. Its working... well, kinda slow... In fact, its lagging (? unhappy face )
I am new to rooting, just started messing with it yesterday. I followed JONAMERICA's site to rooting, reflashing to stock with S-OFF, and going with the manual radio and rom update.
Then, to delete apps I followed his instruction as well, but whenever I type in command prompt "cdsd ools" it says directory not found...
I want to remove voice dialer, news, google search, gmail, and friend stream. I know that Virtuous has a EZcustomizer, but it doesnt remove these apps that I want off.
Also, any ideas as to why its working so slow? Like... it lags when i go from screen to screen, loading apps take a bit longer than when I was on 2.1 last night... once again, slightly unhappy face...
I followed everything else to the letter...
Heres a link to his site, if anyone doesnt know what I'm talking about...Remove bloatware from HTC Droid Incredible 2.2 - Technology - Jonamerica.com
So I've seen a couple ways to remove bloatware, just wondering has anyone used the Titanium Backup way to remove the bloatware?
View 15 Replies View RelatedSo I finally rooted my phone the other night. Already did a nandroid backup and a Titanium backup. Just installed SetCPU and now its time to remove my bloatware.I have found MANY different ways to remove it posted online, can someone please recommend a simple easy (fool-proof) way for me to remove them? I am not stupid, but I am definitely not technologically inclined - so step by step instructions (or a link to step by step instructions).

I've down the root script and have the 'superuser' app installed. I know how to use ADB, but I keep getting permission denied when I do 'adb shell su'.
How do I remove these buggers! I also tried ASTRO explorer, still denied.
I rooted my phone last night following the guide and the help of a wonderful forum member and it went smoothly. I'm still on 1.5 and will stay here awhile 'till I get the nerve again to do a 2.1. I need to get used to the fact that I did just root my phone.
With all that said I have root explorer on my phone. I was going to use the list of safe apps that can be removed and I was going to cut and paste them into a backup directory in case I do something wrong. Does this sound safe and cautious? Or I was thinking about using Fresh Kitchen but I think I have to have that Rom on my phone and I don't want to go there yet. I would appreciate any suggestions on the safest way and easiest way to get rid of those apps.
I've just root my Desire using the unrevoked v3.21, and i intend to remove the bloatware like teeter, stock, talk and plurk once and for all. so i went to the market and download the root explorer and titanium backup. When i try to uninstall using the titanium backup, it freeze and reboot my phone, and the bloatware are still there. so i tried using root explorer to delete the apk and the odex in the system/app folder, but after i've deleted them, i reboot my phone and see they are still there. Is there any ways to remove the bloatware for good? I've search around and came across this "adb shell" that can be use to remove the bloatware. May i know how it works?

View 45 Replies View RelatedWhen I originally rooted my phone (I had 2.1 at the time), I was able to remove all the bloatware i didnt want by going into Root Explorer and changing each application's file extension from .apk to .bak.
Now, with Froyo, I tried to do the same thing, but the only apps that show up in /data/app are the ones that I have installed off the market.
Am I looking in the correct directory? How do I go about removing all this crap in Froyo?
Just got my new Droid X. It's freakin' sweet Already rooted it but I have a question. How do you install apps that require root? Also, I heard with root it's possible to delete the bloatware that comes with Droids? How can I do that?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI rooted my phone, installed lagfix, and removed some bloatware from the phone via Titanium. The phone was stupid fast after doing this, almost everything loaded up instantly. However I started to notice some things weren't functioning properly. Apps on the marketplace would not download, I would try to download Launcher Pro and nothing would happen, nothing downloaded. Tried this with other apps, same thing. I rebooted the phone and noticed upon reboot that a force close/app error happened, not sure which app it was but it had google in it. I have no idea what app it could have been since I only removed apps if I knew what they were like Slacker, Kindle, Sims etc. Maybe removing the Sims caused the error?
I also noticed that emails wouldn't send (or would take a long time) even when I was on wifi. And the XDA app wouldn't work. I would go to make a post, click the text input box, but it wouldn't let me move the text cursor. I would press the keyboard and nothing happened.
I removed a crap ton of apps but they weren't anything major. I also removed the samsung widgets since I would never use those. Guess I should have asked on the forums before removing so much stuff.
Which apps are okay to remove? Any ideas on which app could have caused the market to mess up?
Can apk's be removed from the stock CL-14 zip BEFORE reflashing. Maybe that's a way to remove Sprint bloatware? Anyone?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am trying to remove the at&t from my (new) Xperia X10. I have installed universal android, superuser.apk, Titanium Backup, and Android Mate. when I try to uninstall the bloatware, my phone says the uninstall was unsuccessful. I have read that I should go to settings--applications-- and click unknown apps...the problem is that I do not have that option. I figure I can't be the first to run into this problem.

Droid Explorer
Check This Tool Out I Found! Android is Getting Convenient
Droid Explorer is a tool to manage your rooted android device with the simplicity of Windows Explorer. You can browse every file on your Android device, much like the infamous app "Root Explorer" does. I think this is very much so a handy tool for those that are in need of removing some software....like the bloatware that comes preintalled. Some of you may even want to add stuff, like Google Maps and so on. Try it out!!
I highly recommend standalone for Windows users.....

View 31 Replies View RelatedFirst I rooted with unrEVOked and found out we couldn't take full control of the phone - was only good for wifi tethering to my understanding. So I re rooted via Toast's way on XDA - man did that take FOREVER! ANyhow, I forgot to backup my 300+ contacts before doing so - I tried to sync with my gmail, but it didnt So I have to restore my BB and try to sync with Outlook some how to get a CSV file to sync with google - again, FML Don't get me wrong, I LOVE this phone!!! But man what a nightmare this is turning out to be. I have been working on it for 10 hours straight! and even missed the Laker game coz I wanted to get some results. Anyhow, I only rooted to I could remove the bloatware and tether wifi for free! So far, thats all I can do after this long day. My question is: How do you remove the bloatware? Please give a somewhat detailed instruction on how to do so and with what program/terminal did you use. I am proficient with both Mac n PC.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI swear, I did a lot of searching before posting... The best resource I found was this: xda-developers - View Single Post - Apps that are OK to remove with root But does that require toast's root method? If so, anyway to uninstall bloatware with the unrevoked root method? Also, could someone link me to or list the apps that cannot be uninstalled.
View 1 Replies View RelatedIt seems to be common practice for service providers to bog down their newest phones with bloatware. I've read some information on these forums that seems to indicate that the Evo comes with a lot of sprint programs installed, IE bloatware. I'm a current blackberry user and one of the perks of having one is that I was able to remove all of tmobiles useless, bloatware apps from day one so I could use the phone's memory on programs that I wanted. Now, my question is, is there is a simple uninstall feature that would allow me to unistall programs like sprint tv, sprint nav, etc? Or would I have to root the phone to be able to uninstall those apps?
