I have an occasional annoyance with the Hero. I think some part of my ear sometimes touches the END CALL button and I get disconnected. Is there an app or something that might make you either touch in 2 places or slide a button or some other way to make it just a bit harder to hang up?

Kind of new to this so if you would please stick with me I would appreciated it. I flashed to Fresh 2.0d yesterday w/o any real issues and now it appears that I can not make out going calls (in-coming as well possibly). I get a 'your account can not be verified' message. I also received an email referring to my purchase of a new 'nexus one' this morning, not really sure what that is all about. All the data stuff seem seems to be working fine sms, email, internet etc. (voicemail I have no idea about though).I could really use a hand here, this is my only phone, I am feeling a bit cut off atm and if I don't call my mom tomorrow I'm am really in trouble!

View 2 Replies View RelatedI had a weird issue that has sprung up twice now with making phone calls and I wanted to see if anyone else was experiencing the same thing. Visually everything looks like it is functional with my phone service on the phone. I have bars, nothing out of the ordinary. However, I can't make any outbound calls either through my contacts or by manually dialing. I the number pad and it makes the response noise but doesn't actually type the number. In contacts, I hit call and the same thing happens. The fix I have found is just to soft boot the phone. Now I hear you all saying "No big deal, just restart." Yeah, it is no big deal unless I have to make a call in an emergency say calling 911 or things of that nature. Waiting for 5 minutes for my phone to reboot in an emergency can cost lives. I know I am being a little dramatic, but c'mon, at the end of the day, it is a phone and it is having trouble making calls.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have read a couple of threads that touched on this ring issue, but was unable to find any that had a solution or work around.Since the 2.1 update and the OTA update, many times when an incoming call comes, the phone doesn't ring. If I happen to be in front of the phone, I can see the screen change showing an incoming call.If I am listening to Pandora Radio, when the phone rings, Pandora stops, but the phone never rings.If I am not near or looking at the phone this results in missing the call.If I shut off the phone and re-boot it appears to ring fine, but at some point later in the day or week it will quit ringing.I normally never turn off the phone. Should I start to re-boot every day?

From what I read, there isn't a solution, but I still want to ask being that it is now happening to my Sprint Hero. Anyone know what causes it, or if there is a setting one can change to stop it.

I read some stuff about the Slot Index would this solve my issue? or would I be best to root my phone since I am still stock?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI purchased the HTC Hero from Sprint around a week ago, and it came with a stock 1.5. Had no issues at all, so today decided to try out the leaked 2.1 RUU. Updated without a hassle, but I've been experiencing some issues. This led to me repairing the bootloader and then trying DamageControl 2.08, and now finally fresh 2.0d. All installations went perfectly, nothing to call home about.
It cannot automatically detect my timezone, and it has no clue as to my location for weather nor other features. When I enable the GPS to go onto Maps, it locates me as around 1,000 miles off the west coast of Africa, whereas I'm in Pennsylvania, USA. I can call my phone from another line, but no response on my phone (no calls received, nor missed calls). When voicemails/messages come in, they flood in (10 new messages, etc, that have all stacked up).
I'm using the Wireless Tethering that comes with Fresh 2.0d, and I used PDANet/EasyTether prior to now (as my sole internet is tethering). I'm wondering if this could have at all affected it. Even with tethering disabled for a good hour, still nothing can reach me. If anyone has any suggestions, that'd be greatly appreciated. (Perhaps a radio update?)
I've started to recognize a peculiar problem. During a phone conversation on my Hero, I will start talking, and the other person will start talking just after that (maybe a second or two), then they stop, as they apparently now hear me "interrupting" them. In other words, to them, they started talking first, then I start but to me, I started talking first! (No, I am not purposely interrupting them) It's hard to describe, but it seems that there may be a delay in my audio getting to them. It seems to happen with all callers. Did I make this clear? Now, I am wondering if this happens when I am away from home as well, as I use an Airave device at home. Does anyone else experience this? Does anyone have a suggestion on how to test this? Or a solution?
View 8 Replies View Relatedi have tried nearly ever single application on the market that claims to block private numbers but it none of them work for me... Idk if its because of the Sprint service or the applications just dont work. I know GBlocker blocks the calls. But it dont block the texts, or prevent it from going to voicemail. Nor does it block private calls. There was this other one I had that blocked calls too but same thing with GBlocker. What i dont understand is that if you choose the option "BLOCK ALL CALLS" it will then block private calls. But the option to just block the private calls fails to work. Is there anything out there that actually works? I have considered buying extreme blocker for $5 but whats the point if it might not work? When blocked numbers call, i dont want their voicemails. Nor do I wanna know their calling.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI got my phone back late oct, and i use it unrooted, all the time, I can make calls very simply. with minor lag here and there. But anytime my phone is asleep, and i try to answer any incoming call, either Google voice or direct, I can't slide the screen to answer. and none of the buttons do anything and the call goes missed.
it's really annoying. my wife has the same phone and hers eloquently answers calls. after a few moments, the display changes to show the call is missed. and i can operate the phone again - usually with the dismay of having to call the person back, at the same time while they are leaving voicemail - NOT being able to answer the phone when it rings is really kinda a critical problem for me. Anyone familiar with this issue, and would like to take a stab at helping me fix it. I'm willing to wipe and restore to defaults just to make it work right.
ve been having this issue ever since i flashed to the damageless 2.08 ROM. First off, i absolutely love this 2.1 Rom. It has everything i need in a phone now, but this one problem. Occasionally when i try to use the phone portion of my phone to call somebody, it will not work. By that i mean when i dial a buddys number, it will show that i am in a call with him, but i can not hear any ringing or him on the other side. (He can hear me however). This is a totally random issue, meaning that there isnt a specific time or number this happens when i call, so this makes for an irritating issue.Has anyone else experienced this? if so does anyone know of any fixes or anything?
View 16 Replies View RelatedWhere I work is on Sprint and has bought Hero's for the office people. Most seem to like them. I like mine too(my own). However, my Hero has horrible reception. There are a few places around where I work that are dead zones. I drop calls there EVERY time. They NEVER drop there. We even went through there on the way to lunch the other day and all of us made a call to see how reception was on each. My Hero dropped the call and the rest did not. I have updated everything and still nothing. Sprint seems to be unconcerned. How can I get them to swap phones or something. I actually purchased from Best Buy. I was on 1.5 and have switched to 2.1 and it is the same on both.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI rooted my phone and put fresh 1.1 on it a couple days ago, it received calls after rooting, but recently it stopped receiving calls, and it never received texts or visual voice mails. Gmail still pushes new email to it, and the internet works fine to update things and look at websites.
I tried to restore with nandroid and it took fresh off of it but it still doesn't do text, don't know about calls but i doubt it. also when i rooted it i removed sprint tv, nascar, foot prints and a couple other stock apps. after i found it wasn't getting texts i removed advanced task killer, but it didn't have any effect.
I upgraded to 2.1 last night and now i cant send or receive calls. Well my phone does ring when i call out or someone calls but as soon as the call is answered its just dead ... neither end can hear anything.. Anyone have any ideas why this is happening or how i can fix it.. Called sprint and they told me to take it into a service center.. They are saying this is a known issue as of yesterday.

Specifically I am having problems dropping calls in my apartment, which seems to be at the edge of three different towers (I will connect to all three just by walking from room to room...don't know if that is typical).I am new to Sprint, so I don't quite have a feel for what I should expect from the network, but my fiancee--also on Sprint but with a different phone--doesn't seem to have the same issues.

Other times, I don't get these options and only a choice to slide the screen to unlock to answer. This has been annoying, sometimes difficult to answer, and at times I have missed calls. I read in another post that I can simply click the: Green button / Red Button on the phone to answer or send to voicemail.
Question: Why is it that on some calls I get the Accept / Decline and on other calls I don't? I'm not sure if it has something to do with calls numbers matching my contact list vs. unknown numbers. Sometimes I get it, other times I don't. Is there a way to set my phone to get: Accept / Decline every time?
Does anyone know of a setting that will send calls to voice mail automatically but still allow the phone to function normally otherwise?I use an application that needs to still have GPS functionality and network access (so Airplane Mode wouldn't work ).Can anyone direct me here?

Like instead of that arc-bar, there was a green and red "answer" and "ignore" buttons.
